On front silhouette, the normal type occupies most in women belonged to lean figure group, the obese lower part of the bodytype in normal figure group, and the obese upper part of the body type in obese figure group. On the other, in side silhouette, the slender type is prevalent in lean figure group, hip obesity in normal figure group, and trunk obesity in obese figure group. In particular, women in the obese figure group were distributed among the various body types. The obese figure group had a lower fitness apparel in the measurement of circumference(e.g., chest, waist, and hip) related to obesity in comparison with measurement of length. Therefore, the development of an optimal sizing system in response to the various body types in the obese figure group is needed to provide more diversity in aesthetic design and continuity among various sizing systems.

  • The propose of this study is to explore if the clothing shopping orientation[CSO] of consumers differs between the two types of preferred store when they purchase casual wears. A total of 413 answers from male and female consumers in their twenties were used for the analysis. The types of preferred store were grouped by the brand fame. Department stores, brand agencies/sales branches, and outlets constituted wellknown brand store group, and shopping malls, no brand street stores, and discount stores constituted unknown brand store group. The results are as follows. First, there were no significant differences in CSO dimensions except 'well known brand oriented' dimension between groups. Second, each group showed proper fitness for CSO structure model. Third, the relationships among dimensions within structure model were significantly different between groups. These mean that though it looks there are no differences between groups at the level of each dimension, but there are differences in the view of specific relationships among dimensions. Therefore, store managers must consider the complex CSO structure for marketing strategy development.

  • This qualitative case study examined the experience of middle-aged homemakers with buying and wearing clothes. Clothing benefits and clothing purchase types were observed in the homemakers' daily clothing-related behavior. This study aims to understand clothing consumption values in light of clothing benefits and to determine purchasing methods, purchasing mental states, and personal characteristics according to the clothing purchase types of middle-aged homemakers. The participants of this study were four full-time homemakers and four homemakers with a job outside the home, all in middle age. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews based on an unstructured questionnaire, and the data were collected from January 2010 to October 2010. The results were as follows: first, the clothing benefits were identified as a social stereotype, aesthetic taste, economy, wearing situation, and age perception. The most important clothing consumption values to the middle-aged homemakers based on the observed clothing benefits were, in order: social value, emotional value, epistemic value, functional value, and conditional value. Second, the type of clothing purchase was observed to be planned buying, followed by impulse buying, and compensatory buying. Even when a homemaker planned to shop regularly, when they were exposed to an attractive retailer promotion, they seized on the opportunity on impulse or made a compensatory purchase to divert oneself. Even though homemakers prefer primarily impulse buying, when they went shopping for clothing with their mother-in-law or husband, they made planned purchase also.
