This study is an explanatory research conducted to analyze the influencing factors of treatment adherence in kidney transplant recipients. The subjects were 132 renal transplant recipients who visited the outpatient department in a university hospital. Data were collected from July 17, 2017, to August 22, 2017, and analyzed using SPSS WIN 24.0. Frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, variance analysis, correlation, and regression analysis were performed. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in the treatment adherence based on the age, religion, and the time passed since kidney transplantation. The study also found that the treatment adherence had significant positive correlations with social support (r=.54, p<.001), family support (r=.43, p<.001), health provider's support (r=.57, p<.001), and self-care knowledge (r=.21, p=.015). The factors influencing the treatment adherence were health provider's support, the time passed since kidney transplantation, spouse, and religion. The final explanatory power of the model was 41.9%. In conclusion, intervention strategies should be introduced to promote the support of healthcare providers in order to improve the adherence of the kidney transplantation patients.
The Purpose of this study was to examine, the effects of depression, family Support, and medical suport on rehabilitation motivation among stroke patients. Participants in this cross- sectional, descriptive study were 206 stroke patients who completed a self-report structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation and stepwise multiple regression analyses with IBM SPSS Win 22 Program. Family support, medical support, education and age were strong predictors of rehabilitation motivation in stroke patients. These variables explained 58.3% of the variance in rehabilitation motivation. Depression was not a predictor of rehabilitation motivation. A higher level of rehabilitation motivation was associated with lower levels of depression and higher levels of family support and medical support. These results show that effective strategies for improving family support and medical support. are needed to improving rehabilitation motivation among stroke patients.
The purpose of this study is to examine the role of medical practitioner in the medical field during the drama 'Descendants of the Sun'. The research design is a qualitative research to analyze the role of medical staff in medical field through drama. To collect this study data, we selected the communication scenes in the medical field in the 'Dawn of the Sun'. The collected data were analyzed by content analysis method. The study results are classified into four categories; 'decision making in emergency situations', 'cooperation among medical teams', 'support for patients', 'responsibility as a medical person / ethical dilemma'. This study has limitations in analyzing the role of medical staff by analyzing a drama. However, it is meaningful that the drama explored the role of the medical staff from the third party 's standpoint.
Purpose: This study was done to investigate the point prevalence of postpartum depression and its predictors during early postpartum in mother of preterm infants. Methods: Participants were 101 women, 2-3 weeks after delivery whose preterm babies were hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit. Data were collected from June 2010 to January 2011. The instruments included 'Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale', 'Prenatal depression', 'Subjective health status of infant', 'Medical staff support', and 'Husband support'. Collected data were analyzed using t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and multiple logistic regression with SPSS/WIN version 18.0. Results: The point prevalence was 86.1% that postpartum depression occurred during the early postpartum period in mothers of preterm infants. Three significant predictors of postpartum depression in mothers of preterm infants were identified; 'Type of delivery (OR, 5.57; 95% CI, 1.25-24.77)', 'Subjective health status of infant (OR, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.16-0.70)', and 'Medical staff support (OR, 0.52; 95% CI, 0.28-0.97)'. Conclusion: The results indicate that postpartum mothers should be screened for postpartum depression early in the postpartum period and that, medical personnel should pay particular attention to mothers with a caesarean section and should help mothers of preterm babies to develop positive perceptions of their babies.
Purpose: This study was to assess relationships among the uncertainty, medical staff's support, and anxiety perceived by family members with cancer patients while the family members were waiting for their patients undergoing surgery. Method: The data were collected from the family members of cancer patients who were undergoing surgery in D University Hospital at B city from February 1 to April 12, 2005. The used instruments were the State Anxiety Scale of Spielberger's(1975) STAI, Mishel's Uncertainty in Illness Scale (MUIS)(1981), and Relationship Questionnaires (Lee, 1978). The collected data was analyzed by using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: As the result, the most influential variable explaining anxiety of family members was uncertainty $({\ss}=0.37)$, followed by perceived illness state $({\ss}=-0.27)$. These two variables simultaneously explained 29.3% of the variance in anxiety. Conclusion: We suggest to develop a nursing intervention program to reduce the uncertainty through the medical staff's support and o test its effects.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the quality of life (QOL) and its associated factors in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with Transarterial Chemoembolization. Methods: A descriptive correlational study was used, 106 hepatocellular cancer patients participated through convenient sampling. Data were collected by self-report questionniares or face to face interviews during the period from June to December in 2014. Satisfaction for pain control, perceived health status, professional support and QOL were measured by Assessment of Patient Satisfaction for Pain Management, Health Self-Rating, Relationship Questionnaire, Functional Assessment Cancer Therapy-General. Results: The mean age of participants was 63.7 years and most of them were male (86.8%) and married (84.9%). The mean score of QOL was 67.42. QOL was significantly different by religion. Number of other disease and perceived health status were positively correlated to QOL. Pain intensity was negatively correlated to QOL. As a result of stepwise multiple regression analysis, perceived health status and religion were explained 41.0% (p<.001) of the variance in QOL. Conclusion: Perceived health status should be considered when developing nursing intervention to improve QOL among hepatocellular cancer patients with Transarterial Chemoembolization.
The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with self-care performance in hemodialysis patients based on the unpleasant symptom theory. Data were collected from 237 patients at five hemodialysis clinics in Seoul from March to April 2018. The results were evaluated by the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. As a result, Self-care performance was positively correlated with hope, family support and medical support, but negatively correlated with emotional symptom experience and physical symptom experience. In multiple step regression analysis, family support, emotional symptom, and hope were independently associated with self-care performance, and the regression model explained 33.2% of the variances predicting self-care performance. The independent factors associated with self-care performance were family support, emotional symptom, and hope. Therefore, self-care performance may be improved by applying the hope program for the patient and the family.
This study was aim to understand the relationship between uncertainty, social isolation, social support and resilience of coronavirus infectious diseases-19 (COVID-19) patients and to identify factors related to resilience. Data were carried out from March 7 to May 5, 2021, and a total of 200 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. As a result of the analysis, the lower the sense of social isolation, the higher the social support, the satisfaction with the explanation of isolation and the economic status of 'medium' were identified as related factors for resilience. Based on the above results, a systematic program should be developed and applied to improve the resilience of COVID-19 patients including strengthening social support through families and health care providers, reducing social isolation through non-face-to-face counseling, providing sufficient information about diseases, and providing economic support.
This study, targeting a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, conducted this research with the aim of looking into the relevance between family support belonging to a patient's primary environment, social support consisting of medical personnel, and the quality of life; this study set 199 patients available for investigation from Jan. 25, 2012 until April 30, 2012 as research subjects among the cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment at the Radiation Oncology Department of a university hospital located in Seoul Metropolitan City. In the analysis of collected data, this study conducted t-test using SPSS/WIN 18.0 Statistical Program, and looked into the relevancy between independent variables including social support, and the quality of life as a dependent variable using analysis of variance, correlation analysis and multi-regression analysis. Conclusively, it was found that the higher the family support perceived by a cancer patient undergoing radiation treatment, the higher the quality of his/her life; thus, this study could learn that there exists a significant relation between family support and the quality of life. Accordingly, it is thought that it's necessary to develop an intervention strategy which makes it possible to intensify family support and social support, etc. for the purpose of improving the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment; further, this study thinks that it's necessary to do additional research which could analyze diverse aspects by subdividing the future quality of life by area.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the factors that influence the psychosocial adjustment of organ transplant recipients. Methods: Participants were 132 organ transplant recipients who received follow-up more than 3 months after the organ transplantation at one general hospital in Seoul. A questionnaire survey was done from November 3 to December 3, 2015. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Family support, medical staff support and hope were significantly correlated with psychosocial adjustment. In the hierarchical multiple regression analysis, hope appeared to be the most important factor influencing psychosocial adjustment (${\beta}=.39$, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings show that hope had an influence on the psychosocial adjustment of organ transplant recipients. Thus, to improve psychosocial adjustment it is important for nurses to develop interventions to increase hope in organ transplant recipients.
