In this paper, the strain distribution of the bond layer has been compared with the experimental data and analyzed according to the different mesh refinements and element types. The mesh density was changed along the longitudinal direction of adherend, the longitudinal direction of overlapped region, the vertical direction of adherend, the vertical direction of adhesive and the width direction of the joint. In addition, the effect of the different types of element was evaluated using soild, shell and plane strain element. The geometric nonlinear analysis was performed to consider the large deformation of the joint. From the numerical result, at least 2 elements were needed to achieve a reliable result as the solid element used. In case of shell element, the peel strain at x/c=1 showed 22.8% error compared with the experiment but the shear strain showed a good agreement with the experiment within 1.67% error.
In the conventional load transfer analysis for a steel pipe drilled shaft, it was assumed that the concrete's strain is the same as the measured steel's strain and the elastic modulus of the steel and the concrete calculated by the formular as prescribed by specification is used in the calculation of pile axial load. But, the pile axial load calculation by conventional method differed to some extent from the actual pile load. So, the behavior of a steel pipe drilled shaft could not be analyzed exactly. Thus, the necessity to measure the strain for each pile component was proposed. In this study, a new approach for load transfer measurement of large diameter drilled shafts was suggested ; the strain of each pile component(i. e., steel and concrete) was measured by DRS(Deformable Rod Sensor), the elastic modulus was determined by the uniaxial compression test for concrete specimens made at test site and a value of elastic modulus was evaluated as average tangential modulus corresponding to the stress level of the (0.2-0.6)$f_{ck}$. Field application was confirmed by the results of load transfer measurement tests for 3 drilled shafts. The errors for calculated pile head load were -11 ∼16% and 3.4% separately.
Field measurements were carried out in this study to investigate the behavior of cut and cover tunnel such as the distribution and the magnitude of the earth pressure during back fill process. Three kinds of measuring instruments, such as the earth pressure load cell, the concrete strain gauge and the reinforcing bar meter of embedded type in concrete structure were installed and measured. Earth pressure load cells measured the outside forces acting on the tunnel lining with radial directions. Three load cells were installed at the crown, the right and the left shoulder of the tunnel, respectively. Three sets of reinforcing bar meter were installed in the double reinforcements of the tunnel lining and their locations were the same with the position of the earth pressure load cells. Concrete strain gauge was installed only one site of the upper compressive part at the tunnel crown. Based on the measurements, the deformation and the earth pressure acting on the tunnel lining were investigated with the back fill process. Considerations on the validity of the field measurements were paid.

In this study, a case study was introduced for the design of a twin tunnel along high speed national highway Route 12 from Damyang to Sungsan. It was related to determine the optimal tunnel support pattern and excavation method based on a risk analysis in order to incorporate the uncertainty of ground properties. To this end, three alternatives with different amounts of support and excavation method were selected and risk analysis was performed by applying Monte Carlo simulation technique, respectively. Stability of the tunnel was quantified by the factor of safety. To improve the result, the 729 cases of the combination of ground properties (deformation modulus, cohesion, and internal friction angle) satisfying a Gaussian distribution were generated and applied. Also, stability of the tunnel was confirmed by analyzing the distribution of both displacement and shotcrete bending stress.

In this study a seismic retrofit scheme for the reinforced concrete moment framed structures was investigated using steel bracing and moment frames. The analysis model structure is a 3-story 3-bay moment frame structure designed only for gravity load. The stress/strain concentration in brace-RC frame connection was investigated using finite element analysis. To prevent premature joint failure, steel moment frames were placed inside of middle bay of the RC frame. Two types of braces, steel braces and buckling restrained braces(BRBs), were used for retrofit, and the ductility and the strength of the structure before and after the retrofit were compared using nonlinear static and dynamic analyses. According to the analysis results, the strength and ductility of the structure retrofitted by the moment frames and braces increased significantly. The added steel frame did not contribute significantly to the increase of lateral strength mainly because the size is relatively small.
Jurassic granite from Pocheon area were tested to investigate the effect of microcracks on mechanical properties of the granite. Three oriented core specimens were used for uniaxial compressive tests and each core specimen are perpendicular to the axes'R'(rift plane),'c'(grain plane) and'H'(hardway plane), respectively Among vacious elastic constants, the variation of Poisson's ratio as function of the directions was examined. From the related chart between ratio of failure strength and Poisson's ratio, H-specimen shows the highest range in Poisson's ratio and Poisson's ratio decreases in the order of C-specimen and R-specimen. The curve pattern is nearly linear in stage $I\simIII$ but the slope increases abruptly in stage H-3. As shown in the related chart, diverging point of a curve is formed when ratio of failure strength is $0.92\sim0.96$ Stage IV -3 is out of elastic region. The behaviour of rock in the four fracturing stages was analyzed in term of the stress-volumetric strain me. From the stress increment-volumetric strain equations governing the behaviour of rock, characteristic material constants, a, n, Q, m and $\varepsilon_v^{mcf}$, were determined. Among these, inherent microcrack porosity$(a, 10^{-3})$ and compaction exponent(n) in the microcrack closure region(stage I ) show an order of $a^R(3.82)>a^G(3.38)>a^H(2.32)\;and\;n^R(3.69)>n^G(2.79)>n^H(1.99)4, respectively. Especially, critical volumetric microcrack strain($\varepsilon_v^{mcf}$) in the stage W is highest in the H-specimen, normal to the hardway plane. These results indicate a strong correlation between two major sets of microcracks and mechanical properties such as Poisson's ratio and material constants. Correlation of strength anisotropy with microcrack orientation can have important application in rock fracture studies.
Purpose: In this paper, we construct a detailed three-dimensional interface element using a three-dimensional analysis program, and evaluate the composite behavior stability of the connector by applying physical properties such as the characteristics of general members and those of reinforced members Method: The analytical model uses solid elements, including non-linear material behavior, to complete the modeling of beam structures, circular flanges, bolting systems, etc. to the same dimensions as the design drawing, with each member assembled into one composite behavior linkage. In order to more effectively control the uniformity and mesh generation of other element type contact surfaces, the partitioning was performed. Modeled with 50 carbon steel materials. Results: It shows the displacement, deformation, and stress state of each load stage by the contact adjoining part, load loading part, fixed end part, and vulnerable anticipated part by member, and after displacement, deformation, The effect of the stress distribution was verified and the validity of the design was verified. Conclusion: Therefore, if the design support of the micro pile is determined based on this result, it is possible to identify the Vulnerable Parts of the composite behavior connector and the degree of reinforcement.

The superlattice infrared photodetector (SLIP) with an active layer of 8/8-ML InAs/GaSb type-II strained-layer superlattice (SLS) of 150 periods was grown by MBE technique, and the proto-type discrete device was defined with an aperture of $200-{\mu}m$ diameter. The contrast profile of the transmission electron microscope (TEM) image and the satellite peak in the x-ray diffraction (XRD) rocking curve show that the SLS active layer keeps abrupt interfaces with a uniform thickness and a periodic strain. The wavelength and the bias-voltage dependences of responsivity (R) and detectivity ($D^*$) measured by a blackbody radiation source give that the cutoff wavelength is ${\sim}5{\mu}m$, and the maximum Rand $D^*$ ($\lambda=3.25{\mu}m$) are ${\sim}10^3mA/W$ (-0.6 V/13 K) and ${\sim}10^9cm.Hz^{1/2}/W$ (0 V/13 K), respectively. The activation energy of 275 meV analyzed from the temperature dependent responsivity is in good agreement with the energy difference between two SLS subblevels of conduction and valence bands (HH1-C) involving in the photoresponse process.
Recently, problems related to vibrations of decomposed granite soils have acquired increasing attention in Korea because those soils cover approximately one third of the country. Both resonant column and cyclic triaxial test were performed to investigate deformation characteristics of unsaturated and cement-mixed decomposed granite soils in Suwon region. The important soil parameters in this respect are the shear moduli, dynamic moduli of elasticity and damping ratios. The dynamic parameters are influenced by variables such as strain amplitude, ratio of loading cycles, and degree of saturations, etc. Test results and data have shown that the optimum degree of saturation to the maximum shear modulus due to a capillary menisci effect was about 17~18 % at low strain amplitude and 10~15 % at intermediate strain amplitude. This paper suggests the range of threshold strain and mean shear modulus of decomposed granite soils in Suwon region. It also proposed the empirical relationship between the dynamic parameters for cement-mixed and non-mixed decomposed granite soils.
