A Study on the Equations for Load Carrying Capacities of Concrete Filled tubular Square Column-to-Beam Connections with Combined Cross Diaphragm and Sleeves (복합십자형 CFT 기둥-보 접합부의 내력식에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to clarify the structural features of members consisting of a connection, as part of the previous study on the CFT column-to-beam tensile connection with a combined cross diaphragm. This connection has the following merits: it evenly distributes the stress on the beam flange and the diaphragm and reduces the stress concentration by improving the stress transfer route and restraining the abrupt deformation of the diaphragm. Finite element analysis was performed to find out the stress transfer through the sleeve, which is an important member of the connection with a combined cross diaphragm. The length and thickness of the sleeve were used as variables for the analysis. The analysis results showed that the length and thickness of the sleeve did not influence the capacity of the connection and played the role of a medium for the transfer of the stress from the diaphragm to the filled concrete. It was proposed that the appropriate length of the sleeve have the same value as the diameter of the sleeve and that the appropriate ratio of the sleeve diameter to the sleeve thickness be 20. Two equations for the evaluation of the load carrying the capacity of the connection were also proposed through the modification of the evaluation equation suggested in the previous study.

Tension Lap Splice Length in High-Strength Concrete Flexural Members (고강도 콘크리트 휨부재의 인장 겹침이음길이에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the test results of total 24 beam-end specimens to investigate the effect of high-strength concrete and cover thickness on the development resistance capacity in tensile lap splice length regions. Based on bond characteristics that an increase in concrete strength results in higher bond stress and shortening of the transfer length, cracking behavior that thin cover thickness induced a splitting crack easily and brittle crack propagation, current design code that development length provisions as uniform bond stress assumption was investigated apply as it. The results showed that as higher strength concrete was employed, not only development resistance capacity was influenced by cover thickness, but also more sufficient safety factor reserved shorter than the lap splice length provision in current design code. From experimental research results, high-strength concrete development length was not inverse ratio of $\sqrt{f_{ck}}$ but directly inverse of $f_{ck}$, and it is also said that there is a certain limit length of the embedded steel over which the assumption of uniform bond stress distribution is valid specially for high-strength concrete not having a same embed length such as normal-strength concrete in current design criteria hypothesis.

  • Since composite materials have anisotropic properties that depend on their stacking angle and sequence, the analysis of joints with isotropic adherends is limited in describing the behavior of the adhesive Joint with composite adherends. In this study, the nonlinear solution for adhesive joints with composite adherends was derived by incorporating the nonlinear behavior of the adhesive into the analysis. The behavior of the laminated composite tube was first analyzed, and the stress distributions of the composite tubular adhesive joint were calculated by including the nonlinear properties of the adhesive. The effect of the stacking sequence of composite adherends and bonding length on torque capacities of joints was examined, and results of the nonlinear analysis were also compared with those of the linear analysis.

  • When the underwater structure sails high speed, noise and vibration propagate to the sensor in the nose of the dome. In this paper, to avoid this kind of noise and vibration CRP(Carbon Reinforced Plastic) material and SNORE ring(Self-NOise REduction Ring) are attached at the curved structure and simulates its isolation characteristics using commercial software. Vibration displacement and stress are calculated at the planar sensor array. The material of the curved structure is aluminum and maximum outer diameter is 53Omm, 215mm in length, 270mm in planar diameter, respectively. Based on the simulation results, reduction ratio of the received normal stress at the sensor is above 95% at the frequency of 12kHz and 15kHz. At the mid point of the planar sensor the normal stress is higher than 20mm and 40mm apart. This results can be used to increase the sensitivity of the acoustic sensor as a basic data.

Reynolds Stress Transport in a Merged Jet Arising from Two Opposing urved Wall Jets (두 곡면벽제트로부터 형성된 합성제트에서의 레이놀즈응력 전달)

  • To investigate the characteristics of the merged jet arising from the interaction of two opposing curved wall jets over a circular cylinder in still air, mean velocity, Reynolds stresses, triple moments and integral length scale were measured using hot-wire anenometry. The turbulent kinetic energy and shear stress budget were evaluated using the measured data. The variations of the Reynolds stresses, the triple moment and integral length scale are severe in the interaction region. The pressure diffusion terms are found to be very large when compared the other terms in the interaction region. The distributions of the Reynolds stress and the triple moment in the similar region are found to be similar to those of conventional plane jets.

  • 상부 벽체와 하부 골조로 구성되는 주상복합건물은 전이층에서 수직적인 강성과 강도의 불연속성을 갖는다. 이러한 복합구조는 전이층에서 춤이 큰 보에 의하여 하중이 전달되면 설계시 매우 중요하게 고려하여야 하는 사항이다. 그러나 이에 대한 연구가 충분히 이루어져 있지 않으며 실제 전이보의 설계시 춤을 매우 크게 하여 요구되는 강도보다 큰 안전율이 고려되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전이층의 단순화모델을 이용하여 보의 높이 및 지지면의 길이에 따른 아치거동의 변화를 조사하였다. 유한요소법을 이용하여 구조물을 분석하고 두 변수를 포함하는 헌치부재를 이용하여 그 효과를 기존 시스템과 비교하였다. 중요 변수와 헌치의 기울기는 1:1의 비율에서 사장 효율이 좋은 것으로 나타났으며, 이러한 결과를 전이보를 대신하여 사용한 결과 중력방향의 상부 아치거동에 대하여 효과적으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 응력 집중부위에서의 응력 감소와 깊이 전이보의 높이감소에 효과적으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다.

Tests on Transfer Bond Performance of Epoxy Coated Prestressing Strands (에폭시 코팅 처리된 PS강선의 정착부착성능 실험)

  • The current test procedure for transfer length, which determine transfer length by measuring concrete strain, has an actual bond stress state in the prestressed pretensioned member : however, it is difficult to determine the bond properties of maximum bond stress and bond stiffness with this method. It is also difficult for design engineer to understand and select a correct safety criterion from the widely distributed results of such a ransfer test alone. An alternative testing procedure is provided here to determine the bond properties without measuring the concrete strain. In this test the bond stress is measured directly by creating a similar boundary condition within the transfer length in a real beam during the transfer of prestressing force. The prestressing force was released step by step by step from the unloading side. The release of force induces a swelling of the strand at the unloading side of concrete block, bonding force in the block, and a bond slip of the strand toward the other side of the block. Two center-hole load cells are used to record the end loads until the point of general bond slip(maximum bond stress). It is suggested that this test procedure be performed with the ordinary transfer test when determining the transfer length in a prestressed, pretensioned concrete beam.

A three-dimensional finite-element analysis of influence of splinting in mandibular posterior implants (스프린팅이 하악 구치부 임플랜트 보철물의 응력분산에 미치는 영향에 관한 삼차원 유한요소분석 연구)

  • Statement of problem: Over the past two decades, implant supported fixed prosthesis have been widely used. However, there are few studies conducted systematically and intensively on the splinting effect of implant systems in mandible. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in stress distributions in the mandibular implants with splinting or non-splinting crowns by performing finite element analysis. Materials and methods: Cortical and cancellous bone were modeled as homogeneous, transversely isotropic, linearly elastic. Perfect bonding was assumed at all interfaces. Implant models were classified as follows. Group 1: $Br{{\aa}}nemark$ length 8.5mm 13mm splinting type Group 2: $Br{{\aa}}nemark$ length 8.5mm 13mm Non-splinting type Group 3: ITI length 8.5mm 13mm splinting type Group 4: ITI length 8.5mm 13mm Non-splinting type An load of 100N was applied vertically and horizontally. Stress levels were calculated using von Mises stresses values. Results: 1. The stress distribution and maximum von Mises stress of two-length implants (8.5mm, 13mm) was similar. 2. The stress of vertical load concentrated on mesial side of implant while the stress of horizontal load was distributed on both side of implant. 3. Stress of internal connection type was spreading through abutment screw but the stress of external connection type was concentrated on cortical bone level. 4. Degree of stress reduction was higher in the external connection type than in the internal connection type.

Characterization of Microstructures and Fracture Toughness of SR Specimen in Granitic Rocks (화강암에서 SR 시편의 파괴인성과 미세구조적인 특징)

  • Three relatively homogeneous granitic rocks were studied to investigate the relationship between their microstructural properties and fracture toughness. Fracture toughness and ultrasonic velocity were varied with the orientation of mineral's long axis and microcrack, obtained from optical microscope. The lowest fracture toughness values are obtained, when the fracture propagates parallel to weakness planes which have the orientation of mineral's long axis and microcrack, in other words, when weakness planes develop perpendicular to the direction of tensile stress agrees with that of rift plane. The fracture toughness values, measured with the short rod method, varied from 1.63 to 2.62 MPa $m^{0.5}$, and their values are related with the average grain size and average microcrack length.

  • 모터와 스크류를 이용한 경량 식혈기를 처음으로 개발함에 따라 실제 산림의 식재 시험에서 발생될 수 있는 것은 감속기와 스크류의 연결부분의 파괴이다. 이 감속기 축의 파괴는 토양내부의 큰 자갈로 인해 스크류가 낄 경우 식재봉을 좌우로 흔들게 되면 가장 취약한 부분인 스크류와 감속기의 연결부위에 가장 강한 모멘트가 걸리게 된다. 물론 작업자의 부주위가 원인이기도 하지만 감속기(K6G30C. Korea)의 축 지름이 8mm이므로 식재봉을 좌우로 흔들면 굽힘파괴가 일어날 가능성이 높다. 감속기의 축이 파괴가 되지 않게 하는 방법은 재료의 강도가 높은 새로운 감속기를 찾은 일과 기존 감속기의 축을 굽힘응력에 안전하게 대응할 수 있게 설계를 하는 방법이 있다. 본 연구에서는 전자에 대한 조사와 동시에 후자에 대한 설계와 제작을 수행하여 기 제작된 경량식혈기와 비교 분석하였다. 스크류 축의 굽힘응력에 대한 대응 방법으로 감속기 축의 보강방법은 감속기 축에 식재봉으로 부터 굽힘응력이 직접 전달되지 않게 하기 위해 모터 하우징의 하부 위치에 감속기 축을 감싸는 Radial Bearing을 결합하였다. 그리고 스크류의 축은 상단의 지름을 크게 키운 상태로 감속기의 축에 연결하는 방법으로 설계하였다. 이때 식혈봉으로 부터 걸리는 모멘트는 스크류의 상단 지름에 걸리게 되는데 상단부는 모터 하우징의 하단과 단단하게 결합함으로써 감속기 축을 보호하게 되고 또한 감속기 축의 길이에서 Bearing과 스크류 상단부 큰 지름이 각각 반반씩 보호하는 형태로 설계하였다. 이와 같이 감속기의 축을 보강한 경우 종전의 식혈기보다 무게가 무거워지게 된다. 즉, 1차 식혈기 무게는 3.38kgf, 2차 시작기는 3.28kgf, 축 강도가 보강된 3차 시작기는 무게가 3.87kgf로 증가되었다. 따라서 종전보가 약 600g 증가되어 다소 무거운 느낌이 들었다. 여기서 리듐 폴리머 배터리와 가방의 무게 3.23kgf를 부가하면 1차, 2차, 3차 시작기의 무게는 각각 6.61kgf, 6.51kgf, 7.1kgf로 나타났다. 따라서 굽힘응력에 대한 보강의 방안으로 설계된 무게 과다가 현장 시험에서 작업자의 피로도 증가와 작업의 비효율성이 예상되어 포트묘의 현장 식재시에 이에 대한 평가를 수행하여 비교 분석할 예정이다.
