The present study aims to investigate the design standard for acoustic criteria of Korean traditional music which could be used for the design of Korean traditional music halls. In order to do this, subjective listening tests were undertaken to musicians using auralized sounds which were convolved with the impulse response of traditional instruments recorded in an anechoic chamber. 94 pairs of sound were made which have different value of acoustic parameters including RT, BR, Brilliance, G, C80, ITDG, IACC. A paired comparison method(PCM) was used to analyze the results from the subjective listening tests. The results show that the preference of acoustic criteria for the Korean traditional music is far different from those of western music. As a result, specific range of acoustic criteria were suggested for the appropriate acoustic conditions of Korean traditional music. Also, a guideline of the acoustic design of halls for performing the Korean traditional music was suggested which could be used as a basic reference in the future works.

Nonlinear behaviors such as steep-fronted wave motions and a finite amplitude limit cycle often accompanying combustion instabilities have been numerically investigated using a characteristic-based approximate Riemann solver and the well-known ${\eta}-{\tau}$ model. A resonant pipe initially subjected to a harmonic pressure disturbance described the natural steepening process that leads to a shocked N-wave. For a linearly unstable regime, pressure oscillations reach a limit cycle which is independent of the characteristics of the initial disturbances and depends only on combustion parameters and operating conditions. For the 1.5 MW gas generator under development in KARI, the numerical results show good agreement with experimental data from hot-firing tests.
The present study aims to investigate the soundscapes of Jeju olle route through the soundwalking. In order to do this, sound measurements and sound recording were undertaken at 10 points along Jeju olle route. Also, loudness of background sound and figure sound were examined. Subjective surveys were carried out using questionnaire and interviews with 32 tourists and 5 acoustical specialists in order to investigate the loudest sound, most pleasant and unpleasant sound, and impressive sound among 17 natural and artificial sounds. Additionally, laboratory experiments were achieved to evaluates sound that have been recorded at the field using same questionnaire and the results were compared with those of field experiments. As a result, the sound heard most in Jeju olle route is the sea wave sound, wind sound, automobile noise, and human voice. It was revealed that the most pleasant sound consisted of nature sound among them, and that unpleasant sounds are artificial sounds. The results of subjective test denote that unpleasant sound is affected by ratio of artificial sound and nature sound. And this also affects the assessment about the loudness of the sound. Also, it was found that the results of both field test and laboratory test are closely correlated in the evaluation of loudness of sound and unpleasant feeling.

In this paper, a water tank experiment using Binary Frequency Shift Keying (BFSK) method for text transmission performance by water surface fluctuation is conducted. Water surface fluctuation and delay spread which affect the channel coherence bandwidth is a limiting factor in underwater acoustic communication. The amplitude fluctuation and delay spread the smooth surface and fluctuation surface, were identified. The effective delay spread of both cases are 5ms, 4ms corresponding to the coherence bandwidth of 200Hz, 250Hz, respectively. The bit error rate of BFSK modulated text transmission is about $10^{-4}$ in less than 200bps in smooth surface but less than 250bps in fluctuation surface. Therefore, this experiment shows that the water surface fluctuation is important factor determining the performance of the underwater acoustic transmission.

Disbond size of adhesively bonded single lap and double lap joints CFRP composite specimens has been evaluated using acousto-ultrasonic(AU) technique. Frequency spectra for all specimens were obtained by measuring peak amplitude of the stress wave propagated through the bond-lines. By analyzing these frequency spectra, peak amplitude was found to be proportional to fractional bonding area and to be maxima at the fundamental and the third order higher harmonic frequencies of specimen thickness mode. The disbond size can be evaluated quantitatively and this technique can be applied to real structures if the reference specimens are prepared in advancve.

In the present paper, Helmholtz resonator, which is widely used as a sound-amplification device, is applied to the development of seawater-exchanging breakwater. The incident waves can induce a large response in the resonator when incident wave frequency is close to one of natural modes of the resonator. Largely amplified potential energy due to the resonance supplies clean seawater into the harbor side throughout the channel. Flow supplied by the resonator circulates the seawater of harbor and helps to improve water quality. Within the framework of linear potential theory, matched asymptotic expansion method is employed to analyze the wave responses in a resonator. The semi-circular shape of the resonator has been chosen as an analytic model for mathematical simplicity. The wave responses of both single and arrays of Helmholtz resonator are investi¬gated. To validate an analytic solution, model test is conducted at 2-dimensional wave tanle Wave hcights in the resonator and velocity at the channel are measured for the state of valve-on and valve-off.
For application to several MHz photoacoustic imaging systems, a needle hydrophone was designed and fabricated by using PMN-PZT piezoelectric single crystal, and its characteristics were evaluated through comparison with a commercial PVDF(Polybinylidene Fluoride) hydrophone of which receiving sensitivity is known. The simulation using the KLM model results show that the peak receiving impulse response for $50{\Omega}$ terminating impedance of the fabricated hydrophone is -261.6 dB re $1V/{\mu}Pa$ and the frequency response is relatively flat over 2 ~ 12 MHz with fluctuation less than 5 dB. The measurement results using tone burst signals also show that it has higher (ave. 10.9 dB) sensitivity than the commercial hydrophone in 2 ~ 8 MHz, and the receiving sensitivity of $-255.8{\pm}2.8$ dB re $1V/{\mu}Pa$ was measured for the fabricated hydrophone. In addition, it is known that the photoacoustic signals and the image of a hair obtained by a mechanical scanned photoacoustic imaging system with the fabricated hydrophone were bigger and better than those obtained with the commercial hydrophone.
This paper analyzes the limitations of binaural sound that is reproduced with headphones based on Ambisonics for Virtual Reality (VR) audio. VR audio can be provided with binaural sound that compensates head rotation of a listener. Ambisonics is widely used for recording and reproducing ambient sound fields around a listener in VR audio, and the First order Ambisonics (FOA) is still being used for VR audio because of its simplicity. However, the maximum frequencies with this order is too low to perfectly reproduce ear signals, and thus the binaural reproduction has inherent limitations in terms of spectrum and sound localization. This paper investigates these limitations by comparing the signals arrived at ear positions in the reference field and the reproduced field. An incidence wave is defined as a reference field, and reproduced over virtual loudspeakers. Frequency responses, inter-aural level differences, and inter-aural phase differences are compared. The results show, above the maximum cut off frequency in general, that the reproduced levels decrease, and the horizontal localization can be provided only around the forward direction.

In this study, we have analyzed the effects of the membrane layer and the bragg reflector layers on the resonance characteristics through comparing the characteristics of the membrane type FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonator) and the one type bragg reflector layers with those of the ideal FBAR with top and bottom electrode contacting air by using equivalent circuit technique. It is assumed that ZnO is used for piezoelectric film, $SiO_2$ are used for membrane layer and low acoustic impedance layer, W are used for the high acoustic reflector layer and Al is used for the electrode. Each layer is considered to have a acoustic propagation loss. ABCD parameters are picked out and input impedance is calculated by converting 1-port equivalent circuit to simplified equivalent circuit that ABCD parameters are picked out possible. From the variation of resonance frequency due to the change of thickness of electrode layers, reflector layers and membrane layer it is confirmed that membrane layer and the reflector layer just under the electrode have the greatest effect on the variation of resonance frequency. From the variation of resonance properties, K and electrical Q with the number of layers, K is not much affected by the number of layers but electrical Q increases with the number of layers when the number of layers is less than seven. The electrical Q is saturated when the number of layers is large than six. The electrical Q is dependent of mechanical Q of reflector layers and membrane layer. Both ladder filter and SCF (Stacked Crystal Filters) show higher insertion loss and out-of-band rejection with the increase of the number of resonators. The insertion loss decreases with the increase of the number of reflector layers but the bandwidth is not much affected by the number of reflector layers. Ladder Filter and SCF with membrane layer show the spurious response due to spurious resonance properties. Ladder filter shows better skirt-selectivity characteristics in bandwidth but SCF shows better characteristics in insertion loss.
