  • 고형오구의 분산안정화 작용은 고체 입자의 계면에 흡착한 계면활성제에 의한 전기적 반발력과 입체적 보호작용에 영향을 받게 된다. 특히 현재 시판세제의 조성에서 비이온계 계면활성제의 혼합이 점차 중요시되는 이때 입체적 보호작용에 의한 고형오구의 분산안정성은 의류제품의 세척성 제고에 좋은 정보가 되리라 생각된다. 따라서 본 연구는 시판되고 있는 세제 대부분이 음-비이온계 계면활성제의 혼합으로 되어 있는 점을 고려하여 음이온 계면활성제로서 D5S(sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate), 비이온계 계면활성계 NPE(nonyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether, EO$_{10}$) 혼합용액에서 음이온과 비이온계 계면활성제의 입자에의 흡착과 고형오구의 안정성을 관련시켜 고찰하였다.   • In this study, surfactants were synthesized using fatty alcohols of 8, 10, 12 and 14 carbon chains length. The structures of the synthesized surfactants was confirmed by FT-IR and $^1H$-NMR analysis. The surface tension of the diluted surfactant was measured as 26~32 mN/m depending on the carbon length and the critical micelle concentration was measured as $10^{-3}{\sim}10^{-5}mol/L$.The minimum value per molecule of the synthesized sulfonic acid surfactant is 1.68 to $1.30nm^2$. The physical properties of the synthesized surfactants were determined by measuring the critical micelle concentration, foaming power, emulsifying stability, and contact angle.

토양세정기법의 유류 오염토양 적용을 위한 기초 연구

  • 유류로 오염된 부지에 토양세정기법을 적용하기 위한 전 단계로, 실험실 규모의 컬럼실험을 통하여 pilot 규모 현장 적용을 위한 설계인자 및 최적 운전조건을 규명하고자 적정 세척제 종류와 농도, 배합비 및 세정용액 주입유량을 고찰하였다. 회분식실험 결과 POE$_{14}$와 SDS(1:1)를 1%로 적용한 흔합계면활성제의 효율이 가장 우수하였으나, 예비실험 결과 음이온계 계면활성제인 SDS는 미생물에 독성을 끼치는 경향이 있는 것으로 나타나 같은 농도에서 효율이 거의 유사한 POE$_{5}$와 POE$_{14}$ 혼합계면활성제를 이용하여 실험하였다. 선정된 혼합계면활성제를 적용하여 디젤 오염토양 세척능력을 검토한 결과 세척제 농도 1%까지는 효율이 증가하다가 1% 이상의 농도에서는 다시 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 계면활성제 배합비는 1:1로 혼합하였을 경우 세척효율이 가장 우수하였다. 따라서 POE$_{5}$와 POE$_{14}$ (1:1) 1% 혼합계면활성제를 세척제로 선정하였다. 컬럼실험 결과, 주입 flux가 클수록 세정 제거된 총 유류의 양이 증가하였으며, 같은 pore volume의 세정용액 통과 시에는 flux가 작을수록 제거효율이 좋았다.

  • The conditions for separation and identification of anionic and nonionic surfactants by thin layer chromatography were investigated. Polyoxy alkylene-type nonionic surfactants were identified by the distribution of alkyl chain and alkylene oxide. Various polyoxyethylenated nonyl phenols were easily distinguished by densitometer. Some anionic surfactants were identified by $R_f$ and color, and the mixtures of anionic and nonionic surfactants were separated. Polyoxyethylenated fatty acid was separated into three parts of diester, monoester and polyethylene glycol, respectively, and the mixed ratio was determined by densitomer. All the experiments were carried out in 13-20 minutes, and the length of run was 80mm.

오염토양/대수층 복원을 위한 선택적 폭기 기술의 개발

  • 대수층 폭기법(aquifer air sparging)은 대수층에 가압공기를 주입하여 휘발성 유기오염물질을 제거하는 지반환경복원 기술의 하나이다. 본 연구는 전통적인 지하 대수층 폭기기술 시행에 있어서 특정층에 미리 수용액상 계면활성제를 수평방향으로 도입함으로써 오염물질이 실제로 존재하는 층에 선택적으로 폭기 되도록 하여 최소한의 공기량으로 제거 효율을 극대화 하는 기술을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 균일질 모래로 충진된 2차원 상자 모델을 사용하였으며, 표면장력 조절을 위하여 저농도(100mg/L) 음이온계 계면활성제(sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate) 수용액이 사용되었다. 실험은 계면활성제가 처방되지 않은 경우, 공기도입부 근처에 계면활성제 용액이 도입된 경우, 공기도입부와 토양표면의 중간부분에 계면활성제 용액이 도입된 경우의 세 가지 방법으로 실시되었다. 실험 결과, 계면활성제가 도입된 경우는 투입되지 않은 경우에 비하여 최고 5배에 해당하는 폭기영향권의 확대가 관찰되었으며 폭기영향권이 계면활성제가 도입된 수평층을 중심으로 형성되어 이 부분에 집중되어 존재하는 오염물질의 제거에 매우 유리할 수 있다는 점이다. 대수층 도입공기의 수평확산을 유도하는 기술로 본 연구는 기존의 대수층 폭기 복원기술의 효율을 획기적으로 개선할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Studies on the Dynamic Surface Tension of GL12 and Anionic Mixtures (N-Dodecanoyl, N-Methyl Glucamine(GL 12)과 음이온 계면활성제 혼합물의 Dynamic Surface Tension에 관한 연구)

  • The dynamic surface tension of GL12 (easily biodegradable nonionic surfactant and mild to skin), LAS and SLES aqueous solutions and that of mixed surfactant systems were measured by the maximum bubble pressure method at different mixing ratios. The effects of various salt such as NaCl, CsCl and urea on the dynamic surface tension of mixed surfactant systems were also studied. The dynamic surface tension of GL12 was not influenced by the presence of salts. On the contrary, the dynamic surface tensions of anionic surfactants (LAS and SLES) were significantly affected by the salts. In the mixed surfactant systems, the effect of salt increased as the composition of anionic LAS or SLES increased in the GL12/LAS and GL12/SLES mixtures.

  • A series of batch tests were conducted to evaluate the design parameters for the application of soil washing techniques to the hydrophobic organic compounds (HOCs)-contaminated soil using mixed surfactants. Because the mixed surfactants form different structures of molecular aggregates from single surfactant, they were applied to improve the washing efficiency. Kinds of surfactants added, mixing ratio, and total concentration of mixed surfactants were evaluated. The uncontaminated soil was obtained from a country hill near Nock-Chun Station in Seoul. The portion of soil passing #4 (4.75 mm) sieve was used. The pH, organic contents and cation exchange capacity were 4.4, 1.6% and 4.08 meq/100 g, respectively The soil was artificially contaminated by n-dodecane. The 5% solution of OA-5 and OA-14 (1:1) showed 86% washing efficency. The 4% solution of SDS and OA-5 (1:1) showed 95% washing efficiency.

  • The solubilizing capacity of GL-12, LAS, SLES aqueous solutions and that of mixed surfactant systems were studied using sudan III, which is oil-siluble dye. The solubilizing capacity of mixed surfactant systems was greatly influenced by the mixing ratios. Generally, the solubilizing capacity increased as the composition of GL-12 in the mixed systems increased. From the effect of NaCl on the solubilizing capacity, it was found that the solubilizate is located near the palisade layer in the GL-12/LAS system, and the solubilizate is located inside the micellar core in the GL-12/SLES mixed system. These differences in the location of slubilizate inside micelles result from the difference of molecular structure between LAS and SLES.

Effect of Surfactant Types on Washing of Diesel-contaminated Soil (디젤 오염 토양 세척시 계면활성제 종류의 영향)

  • The effects of surfactant types and the ratio of nonionic and anionic surfactants on the washing of diesel contaminated soil were investigated. In batch tests, the nonionic surfactant, which has HLB within 12-13, showed a high diesel removal efficiency and Tergitol 15-S-7 (T15S7) with 20 g/L concentration exhibited the highest removal efficiency of 79-88% among the tested nonionic surfactants. Anionic surfactants, in general, showed lower removal efficiency than nonionic surfactants. In case of mixed surfactant system, the removal efficiency increased with nonionic surfactant concentration. With mixed surfactants of T15S7 and SDS as 3 : 1 ratio, diesel removal was enhanced to 76% with 10 g/L of the mixed surfactants. These results could be used in the selection of proper surfactants for remediation of diesel contaminated soils.

The Cleaning of Costumes of Yeosan Song's Family Excavated at Mokdal-dong in Daejeon (대전 목달동 출토 여산송씨 출토복식의 세척)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic information necessary for the cleaning of excavated costumes. For the purpose, these researchers reviewed previous records of the actual cleaning of excavated costumes and then implemented and documented the processes of cleaning the Yeosan Song's costumes excavated at Mokdal-dong, Daejeon, which could date back to the early and mid periods of Choseon Dynasty. The excavated clothes of the family provide good examples for comparing men's costume of the 15th century with men's and women's of the mid and late 16th century. The total quantity of excavated remains were 184 and textiles were cotton, silk, hemp, ramie, and union cloth. The clothing remains were processed through wet or dry cleaning in accordance with their fabric condition and the extent to which they were worn or polluted. In detail, the excavated costumes of the Yeosan Song family were cleaned in two stages. For wet cleaning, both anionic(LAS) and nonionic(Triton X-100) surfactants were respectively used as cleaning agents and for dry cleaning, a mixture of n-hexane and n-decane(the ratio of 4 to 6) and petrolic dry cleaning solvent were used. After first cleaning, some cotton, ramie and hemp which had still the stains were processed bleaching and silk which were good condition was processed dry cleaning with the organic solvent again.
