Range estimation of underwater acoustic moving source using Doppler frequency map (도플러 주파수 맵을 이용한 수중 이동 음원의 거리 추정)

  • When measuring the radiated noise of an underwater vehicle, range information between acoustic source and receiver is an important evaluating factor, but it cannot use GPS. There is a method of using the cross correlation for finding the range of the acoustic source instead of the GPS. However, this method has heavy computational loads. This paper proposes a fast Fourier transform based method with a relatively small amount of computation to estimate the range of a source. The proposed method estimates Doppler frequencies of CW signals received at multiple receivers by fast Fourier transform and estimates the source range by comparing theoretical Doppler frequencies map previously calculated by a receiver position and source depth information. Simulation and lake trial were performed to verify the performance.

Identification of Sound Source Location Generated by Shock Wave for Medical Treatment (의료용 충격파에 의해 발생하는 음원 위치의 확인)

  • When the piezoelectric extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter is operated. sounds are generated. In this paper, we present a fact that the sounds are radiated undoubtedly from the object to be hit by the shock waves. For this results. we use the method to identify the sound source location of the radiated sounds by estimating the distance and the bearing from the sound source using one hydrophone. In addition. we investigate the relation between the radiated sounds and the vibrations of the objects using bronze models of disc type with clear vibrating characteristics and present the results of experiments to be analyzed.

Underwater Moving Source Tracking Using a Coherent Broad-band Matched Field Processing Technology (일관성 광대역 정합장처리에 의한 수중 이동음원의 위치추적)

  • The shallow-water environment presents additional challenges arising from the complex interaction patterns of the sound with the sea bed. In order to overcome the difficulties generated by shallow-water propagation, broad-band matched field processing has been employed in an effort to increase robustness by utilizing multiple frequency information. In this paper, a coherent broad-band matched field processor is introduced that incorporates the spatial coherence of the acoustic field not only over one frequency but across frequencies. The incoherent and coherent processors are applied to the experimental data where it is shown that both processors give a high probability of correct localization. Also it is found that a coherent processor has better performance in the sidelobe pattern of ambiguity surfaces.

Effect of Bias for Snapshots Using Minimum Variance Processor in MFP (최소분산 프로세서를 사용한 정합장 처리에서 신호단편 수에 따른 바이어스의 영향)

  • When using a sample covariance matrix data in paucity of snapshots, adaptive matched field processing will have problem in inverting covariance matrix due to the rank deficiency. The general solutions are diagonal loading and eigenanalysis methods, but there is a significant bias in the power output. This paper presents a quantitative study of bias of power output and the performance of source localization through the simulation and the measured data analysis in fixed source case using the diagonal loading method for the minimum variance processor. Results show that the bias in power output is reduced and the performance of source localization is improved when the number of snapshots is greater than the number of array sensors.

An Adaptive Time Delay Estimation Method Based on Canonical Correlation Analysis (정준형 상관 분석을 이용한 적응 시간 지연 추정에 관한 연구)

  • The localization of sources has a numerous number of applications. To estimate the position of sources, the relative delay between two or more received signals for the direct signal must be determined. Although the generalized cross-correlation method is the most popular technique, an approach based on eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) is also popular one, which utilizes an eigenvector of the minimum eigenvalue. The performance of the eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) based method degrades in the low SNR and the correlated environments, because it is difficult to select a single eigenvector for the minimum eigenvalue. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive algorithm based on Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) in order to extend the operation range to the lower SNR and the correlation environments. The proposed algorithm uses the eigenvector corresponding to the maximum eigenvalue in the generalized eigenvalue decomposition (GEVD). The estimated eigenvector contains all the information that we need for time delay estimation. We have performed simulations with uncorrelated and correlated noise for several SNRs, showing that the CCA based algorithm can estimate the time delays more accurately than the adaptive EVD algorithm.

Leakage noise detection using a multi-channel sensor module based on acoustic intensity (음향 인텐시티 기반 다채널 센서 모듈을 이용한 배관 누설 소음 탐지)

  • In this paper, we design and verify a system that can detect piping leakage noise in an environment with significant reverberation and reflection using a multi-channel acoustic sensor module as a technology to prevent major plant accidents caused by leakage. Four-channel microphones arranged in a tetrahedron are designed as a single sensor module to measure three-dimensional sound intensity vectors. In an environment with large effects of reverberation and reflection, the measurement error of each sensor module increases on average, so after placing multiple sensor modules in the field, measurement results showing locations with large errors due to effects such as reflection are excluded. Using the intersection between three-dimensional vectors obtained from several pairs of sensor modules, the coordinates where the sound source is located are estimated, and outliers (e.g., positions estimated to be outside the site, positions estimated to be far from the average position) are detected and excluded among the points. For achieving aforementioned goal, an excluding algorithm by deciding the outliers among the estimated positions was proposed. By visualizing the estimated location coordinates of the leakage sound on the site drawing within 1 second, we construct and verify a system that can detect the location of the leakage sound in real time and enable immediate response. This study is expected to contribute to improving accident response capabilities and ensuring safety in large plants.

  • 본 논문에서는 판소리 자동채보에 중요한 요소인 '합'과 '궁'의 위치 즉 마디를 인공신경망과 히스토그램을 이용하여 추정한다. 기존의 합과 궁을 추정하는 방법으로는 NCC(Normalized Cross Correlation)를 이용한 대표치 추정 윈도우와 칼만 필터를 이용하였다. 하지만 대표치 추정 윈도우를 구성하는 과정에서 단순히 15개의 특징벡터 각각의 평균을 이용하기 때문에 분별력이 떨어지고, 마디위치를 보정하는 과정에서 칼만 필터를 사용하면 전체음원이 길이가 짧을 경우 오차가 발생할 가능성이 크다. 본 논문에서 제안한 마디 추정 알고리즘은 장단별로 최대 90%이상의 정확도로 마디를 추정할 수 있다.

  • The passive ranging estimation techniques using a focused beamformer have been studied under the water. It is well known that the passive ranging estimation method using a focused beamformer is excellently evaluated. Among these, the passive ranging sonar is known to have a good performance under low signal-to-noise. ratio. However, its performance is degraded in multi-source environments. In this paper, we proposed the technique using dual focused beamformers to estimate the range. And when the sampling frequency is low, it is very difficult to steer the focused beam to the desired direction, as a result of this, the low performance occurs because of a distorted beam pattern. In this paper, we study the effect of sampling rate on passive ranging by using focused beamformer. And we verified the performance of the proposed method via computer simulation.
