  • The music is a part of our daily life in these days. And when the people listen to the music, they are affected by the context. However, previous researches on the music recommendation system have the problem that they didn't consider the proper contextual information efficiently. They only used the content-based filtering or the method to use musical metadata (genre, artist, etc.). Recently, there are some researches about the music recommendation system which applies the status(temperature, humidity, etc.) of environments. But, it is difficult to be accepted by the contextual information. Therefore, we propose the music recommendation system that is dynamically applied by the contextual information as well as the metadata in the previous researches. And the system can provide users with the music that they want to listen to, and then the users can be more satisfied. Also, the services can be improved by the feedback of the users. In order to solve this problem, the context-information for selecting a music list is defined and the music recommendation system is designed by using the content-based filtering method. The system is suitable for the user's taste and the context. The music recommendation system we are proposing uses an OSGi framework in the home network. As a result, the satisfaction of users and the quality of services will be improved more efficiently by supporting the mobility of services as well as the distributed processing.

  • This study analyzed Naver TV users' pattern of video clip watching, and analyzed the factors affecting the popularity of Naver TV's video clip. We selected 572 individual video clips that were ranked 50th in Naver TV rankings from September 10th to September 24th in 2017. We classified video clip's characteristics into several factors, including the number of likes, the number of subscriber, genre, video clip's types, and star appearances. We indexed the popularity of video clip, which implies the degree of popularity for each video clip. The results showed that the number of likes for video clips and the number of subscribers for each video clip were positively related to the popularity of video clip. Video clip's genre, video clip's type and star power positively affected the popularity of video clip. The effect of extras genre on the popularity of video clip was the lowest, followed by entertainment, music, and drama genre. but the difference among entertainment, music and drama genre was not statistically significant. Web-only video and non-broadcast video positively affected the popularity of video clip. Finally, the popularity of video clip was higher when stars appeared in the video clip.

  • Defining the concept of prominent audio content as the most informative audio content from the users' perspective within a given unstructured audio segment, we propose a simple but robust intensity-based attack/release pattern features to detect the prominent audio content. We also propose a web-based annotation procedure to retrieve users' subjective perception and annotated 18 hours of video clips across various genres, such as cartoon, movie, news, etc. The experiments with a linear classification method whose models are trained for speech, music, and sound effect demonstrate promising - but varying across the genres of programs - results (e.g., 86.7% weighted accuracy for speech-oriented talk shows and 49.3% weighted accuracy for {action movies}).

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there were differences in sound quality among telecommunication service providers(SPs). To avoid the influence of brand of SPs and mobile phone manufacturer, a series of structured experiments was planed. Possible source of sound difference were tested such as specific genres of music, contents providers, mp3 players for PC, and mobile phone manufacturers. The results show there are differences of sound quality among telecommunication service providers(SPs). But the difference comes from contents, mobile phone, and MP3 player for PC. The same model of mobile phone from the manufacturer sounded differently depending on telecommunication service providers(SPs). The genre of music did not show consistent difference in sound quality.

The research group was focused on the twenties, University students because they are the active media contents users. It surveyed the students in Busan, and used the method of descriptive statistics analysis for the understanding of the present state and near future prospect. This study shows that almost half of them use both services, and three people out of ten are the heavy users who use the services for over 3 hours a week. The streaming method is higher proportion than download method in using type. They are getting accustomed to pay contents cost, but it couldn't be said the paying content cost has been established. Preferred contents genre appears to be the RMC(Ready Made Contents) such as existing broadcaster contents and movies. Notable result on media usage was the proportion of the so-called 'Zero-TV'. Second, the 'Paradiddle', 'Accent', and 'Swiss Army triplet' rudiment techniques were applied to the entire drum kit, bringing innovation to the rhythm. Third, the samba pattern of Latin rhythm and the form of 'Afro-Cuban' were grafted onto funk music. • The term practical means that you actually use what you learn. Unlike that meaning, however, the curriculum is operated by specific majors of some professors. And we can be seen in many colleges. Jazz is a prime example. Jazz is a genre only for some maniacs and there is not much places to play on the pop scene. But this genre is now packaged as representative studies of practical music. This affects even cram schools, preparing for college entrance exams, while high school students are also learning, playing and preparing Jazz to take the exams. Of course, Jazz is a field of music, but it is a very sad reality, considering it can never be the mainstream of popular music. It has been 20 years since the department of practical music was established at a four-year university. The number of graduates will also be very large. Now that the role of a university is related to employment, it's time to look at how the graduates are getting jobs and whether they are working in music. And it will also be important to ensure that the curriculum of the department is reasonably managed to connect with employment in reality. Practical learning will be not only respond immediately to market changes but establishment and operation of education courses should be carried out accordingly. In this study, we will discuss curriculum of vocal at universities, concrete examples of operations, and reasonable vocal courses that can be connected to employment.
