Detection of Music Mood for Context-aware Music Recommendation (상황인지 음악추천을 위한 음악 분위기 검출)

  • To provide context-aware music recommendation service, first of all, we need to catch music mood that a user prefers depending on his situation or context. Among various music characteristics, music mood has a close relation with people‘s emotion. Based on this relationship, some researchers have studied on music mood detection, where they manually select a representative segment of music and classify its mood. Although such approaches show good performance on music mood classification, it's difficult to apply them to new music due to the manual intervention. Moreover, it is more difficult to detect music mood because the mood usually varies with time. To cope with these problems, this paper presents an automatic method to classify the music mood. First, a whole music is segmented into several groups that have similar characteristics by structural information. Then, the mood of each segments is detected, where each individual's preference on mood is modelled by regression based on Thayer's two-dimensional mood model. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves 80% or higher accuracy.

An Analysis of Music Intervention Studies for Children and Adolescents With Intellectual Disability in Korea (국내 지적장애 아동·청소년 대상 음악중재연구 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the literature on music interventions for youth with intellectual disability. Characteristics of the music intervention, target goal domains, and the quality of statements on intervention contents and rationale were explored. What type of intervention was applied in each target goal domain and how studies differed in terms of the quality of stated rationales depending on the authors' field of study were also analyzed. A total of 20 articles published in KCI journals were identified. The analysis showed the differences in intervention contents depending on the authors' research field and target goal areas. In addition, it was found that only two studies stated an appropriate rationale based on the theory of music therapy and relevant research. Discrepancies on the quality of rationale between researchers with music therapy majors and with non-music therapy majors indicated the importance of the music therapy professionalism in expecting and interpreting the intervention outcomes. These findings highlight the ways in which music intervention studies could be improved to further the field and contribute to the rigor of these interventions for youth with intellectual disability.

  • Although importance of music education for the mentally retarded children is realized, it is hard to improve study effects for those children with the existing music education methods due to cognitive disorders of the children. In the paper, we propose a system to improve music cognition ability of the mentally retarded children. The system is designed based on the existing MMCP theory. Our system has the following characteristics. First, the system can improve cognitive, physical, social and emotional development as well as development of music cognition ability. Second, the individualized music education is possible for the children. Third, more active and interactive education is possible.

  • 최근 들어 음원 협회의 항소로 인해 음악 파일을 무료로 다운 받을 수 없게 되었다. 이로 인해, 유료 음악 사이트의 사용이 증가되었고,수익성이 커지고 있다.하지만 수요가 커진 것에 비해, 대부분의 음악 사이트들의 서비스는 음악 메일이나 휴대폰 전송 등에 그치고 있다. 따라서 사용자를 유치하기 위한 전략으로 추천시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 그 방법으로, 본 논문에서는 음악의 파형 변화를 분석하고, 사용자가 다운로드했던 파일의 리스트를 통하여 사용자 맞춤형 추천 시스템을 벡터 유사도를 통하여 구현하고자 한다. 음악에 대한 성분은 파형을 통하여 진폭과 진동수에 대한 특징 벡터를 추출한다. 그리고 사용자의 다운로드 리스트에 누적시킨다. 위의 두 절차를 통해 사용자의 리스트를 분석하여 비슷한 성분의 음악을 검색한다. 실험을 위해 사용되는 음악 성분에 대한 내용은 수치적인 데이터를 기반하고 있기 때문에 자동화가 용이했고, 빠른 연산 시간과 유동적인 검색 범위를 가질 수 있었다.

The Social-Spatial Relationship between Jeongeup Julpungryu and Daepungryu (정읍 줄풍류와 대풍류의 사회적·공간적 연관성)

  • Jeongeup Pungnyu, which can be regarded as a foundation of Hyangje Julpungryu(;string ensemble in Honam Area) best reflects social-spatial characteristics of local Pungryu culture. The close relationship between Daepungryu(wind ensemble) and Julpungryu can be inferred from three points of view. First, Jeongeumun who participated as a musician in the beginning of Hyangje Julpungryu was good at not only performing musical instrument but also dancing. Jeongeumun did not stay in specific musical field. He performed Hyangje Julpungryu, made Daepungryu and used it as dancing music with musicians that participated in Julpungryu. That is why Julpungryu and Daepungryu are not completely separated music. Secondly, according to , Jung Hyungin, who followed the dance of Jeong Jae-Sun with Kim So-Ran, was the first Piri player who learned from Jeongeumun and played Yeongsanhoesang and Samhyeon-yukkak(;wind ensemble). That is, Jeongeup Julpungryu was formed by Jeongeumun and dancer Jung Hyung-in followed Julpungryu and Daepungryu. Based on these findings, it can be inferred that Jeongeup's Daepungryu is fundamentally closely related to Jungeup Julpungryu.

The Identity of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak (향제 삼현육각의 특징)

  • In the situation where the interest of the academics related to the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak is increasing, the task of identifying the identity of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak should precede. In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak distinguished from the court style Samhyunyukgak. First, we will discuss the characteristics of instrument organization. In the form of the Hyangje Samhyunyukgak, the composition of the musical instrument is flexible. Depending on circumstances such as the geographic region or the composition of the player, the set of instruments were added or reduced. The second part relates to composition of music. Among the various pieces of music, a piece of music to be selected in a specific situation is music pieces related to the use of the piece of music in depth. In this phenomenon, the music with the greatest change is Geosangak(거상악). The music played as Geosangak repertoire showed various musical pieces that are related to various situations in different regions. Finally, I would like to discuss the problems related to the origins of Hyangje Samhyunyukgak music. Compared to the songs of Ginyeombul(긴염불), Gutgeori(굿거리), and Taryeong(타령), it is difficult to totally exclude the relationship from the local music genre. And I could guess that such a common denominator was closely related to the Jangdan.

  • This paper aims to derive the specificity of film music of Baz Luhrmann, a Hollywood film director, focusing on his representative works such as Dancing Heroes, Romeo and Juliet, and Moulin Rouge. Frist, Dancing Heroes captures various dance music genres through dynamic shooting techniques and shows trendy sensibility by using the main theme song 'Time after Time,' sung by the main character, Tina. Second, Romeo and Juliet, the original work of Shakespeare, keeps thier lines and stories while decorating gorgeous fashion and rock music in jukebox style. Also, it is harmonized with the most modern and trendy MTV-style video. Third, Moulin Rouge presents film music through the 'mix and match' method, which consists of jukebox-type trendy songs containing classical back stage musical and Bollywood musical images. In conclusion, the style of Baz Luhrmann has been reborn as a unique way of directing Buz Luhrmann's film music that it is expressed by connecting various juke box style music with amazing visual effect. Through director's style, it is possible to suggest the direction of various film music to the industries.

The Formation of Linear Thinking in Traditional Chinese Music and Its Causes (중국 전통음악 선형적 사유의 형성과 그 원인)

  • Traditional Chinese music has a deep indigenous color and has its own unique way of thinking and characteristics. A consensus has already been formed that linear thinking is a major feature of traditional Chinese music, and it has been implemented in both traditional multi-tone and single-tone music. It is mainly expressed in the form of single-tone music or single-tone music. This linear thought of traditional Chinese music is formed by influencing factors in various fields. For example, it is related to national culture, geographical and natural environment, religious and philosophical background, traditional Chinese notation, individual characteristics of traditional musical instruments, Yulje, composition, and transmission methods. This thinking is different from Western classical music that pursues three-dimensional thinking, and Western music emphasizes the harmony of harmony, harmony of tone and texture, logic and identity of structure, and emphasizes the aspect of space. However, traditional Chinese music emphasizes the horizontal development of melody, the fluency of ancestors, and the continuity of structure. We aims to analyze the causes of linear thinking of traditional Chinese music so that it can be more useful in educational aspects and promote the succession and development of traditional music by transferring knowledge of ethnic music.

  • 본 논문에서는 영국을 대표하는 아티스트인 스팅이 폴리스 해체 이 후 25년이 넘도록 다양하고 폭넓은 자신만의 음악적 세계를 인정받는데 큰 발판이 되었던 음반에 포함된 곡을 중심으로 이 시기에 두드러지게 나타난 편곡적인 특징과 리듬적 특성, 즉 드럼비트를 쪼개서 리듬을 분할하는 기존의 통념에서 벗어나 퍼커션과 다른 악기들의 리듬분할을 통해 곡의 기본적인 흐름을 이끌어가는 방법에 대해 설명하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 내용 기반 음악의 감성추출 연구의 동향을 살펴보고, 평가치를 기반으로 청중의 기호를 분석해 본다. 청중의 기호 분석은 가능한 많은 사람이 공감 할 수 있는 데이터를 사용하고자, 최근 이슈가 되고 있는 "나는 가수다" 방송 프로그램의 음원 분석을 통해 이루어졌다. 데이터베이스는 총 7 번의 공연/경연마다 7 곡씩 순위가 매겨지므로 총 49 곡으로 이루어진다. 청중 평가단은 총 500 명의 엄격히 선발된 10 대에서 50 대, 각각 100 명 씩으로 구성되었다. 특징값은 오픈소스인 MIRtoolbox 를 이용해서, 총 376 개의 특징값을 추출하여 평가치와의 상관관계를 구해 청중 평가단의 기호를 분석한다. 실험결과 총 376 개의 특징값 중 10 개의 특징값이 청중평가단의 기호와 상관관계가 있다는 것이 나타났다. 마지막으로 내용 기반 음악의 감성 추출 연구에서 보이는 감성의 주관적 인식성 및 심리학적 설명의 난해함을 줄이고자, 향후 과제로 내용 기반 및 평가치 기반의 시스템을 결합한 감성 기반 음악 추천 시스템을 제안한다.
