  • Significant research has been conducted on the W-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system that utilizes the 77 GHz frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) radar. To reconstruct the high-resolution W-band SAR image, it is necessary to transform the point cloud acquired from the stereo cameras or the LiDAR in the direction of 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) and apply them to the SAR signal processing. However, there are difficulties in matching images due to the different geometric structures of images acquired from different sensors. In this study, we present the method to extract an optimized depth map by obtaining 6 DOF of the point cloud using a gradient descent method based on the entropy of the SAR image. An experiment was conducted to reconstruct a tree, which is a major road environment object, using the constructed W-band SAR system. The SAR image, reconstructed using the entropy-based gradient descent method, showed a decrease of 53.2828 in mean square error and an increase of 0.5529 in the structural similarity index, compared to SAR images reconstructed from radar coordinates.

  • Recently, a variety of AI-based platform services are available, and one of them is ChatGPT that processes a large quantity of data in the natural language and generates an answer after self-learning. ChatGPT can perform various tasks including software programming in the IT sector. Particularly, it may help generate a simple program and correct errors using C Language, which is a major programming language. Accordingly, it is expected that ChatGPT is capable of effectively using Verilog HDL, which is a hardware language created in C Language. Verilog HDL synthesis, however, is to generate imperative sentences in a logical circuit form and thus it needs to be verified whether the products are executed properly. In this paper, we aim to select small-scale logical circuits for ease of experimentation and to verify the results of circuits generated by ChatGPT and human-designed circuits. As to experimental environments, Xilinx ISE 14.7 was used for module modeling, and the xc3s1000 FPGA chip was used for module embodiment. Comparative analysis was performed on the use area and processing time of FPGA to compare the performance of ChatGPT products and Verilog HDL products.

  • This study purports to explore the landscape of welfare attitudes of young generation of Korea in their 20s and 30s focusing upon potential differences from those of older generations. Korea has recently been in the significant debate on pension reform and the disadvantages of relatively young generations has been on of the most crucial issues during the reform. Survey data from 17th Korean Welfare Panel are analyzed and such variable as attitudes toward government expenditure on public pension, health care, old age support, poverty, family and child care and so on. In addition, welfare-related variables such as universalism vs selectivism, tax increase for welfare expenditure, and political orientation are to be analyzed. The results show several findings. First of all, correspondence analysis shows that young generation in Korea are strongly associated with higher education and full time employment compared to older generations. Secondly, the most interested welfare issues of young generations are housing and child support. Moreover, young generations' attitudes toward government expenditure increase differ from those of older generations on the issues of public pension, housing, and family and child support. Lastly, political orientation of those young generation tend to be progressive and they support universalism in welfare policy, but they do not support tax increase for welfare purpose, which, I would say, is inconsistent.

  • Object detection technology that accurately recognizes the road and surrounding conditions is a key technology in the field of autonomous driving. In the field of autonomous driving, object detection technology requires real-time performance as well as accuracy of inference services. Task offloading technology should be utilized to apply object detection technology for accuracy and real-time on resource-constrained devices rather than high-performance machines. In this paper, experiments such as performance comparison of task offloading, performance comparison according to input image resolution, and performance comparison according to camera object resolution were conducted and the results were analyzed in relation to the application of task offloading for real-time object detection of autonomous driving in resource-constrained devices. In this experiment, the low-resolution image could derive performance improvement through the application of the task offloading structure, which met the real-time requirements of autonomous driving. The high-resolution image did not meet the real-time requirements for autonomous driving due to the increase in communication time, although there was an improvement in performance. Through these experiments, it was confirmed that object recognition in autonomous driving affects various conditions such as input images and communication environments along with the object recognition model used.

The purpose of this study is to develop practical and modern hair accessory designs inspired by royal women's hair ornaments that complement hanbok, and therefore expand the scope of fashion content development utilizing hanbok culture as well as meeting the demand for various experiences of traditional culture. This research studied the literature on traditional hairstyles and accessories of Queen Yeong and constructed models of these accessories for the purpose of empirical research. The production process first required creating a basic foundation of nylon mesh reflecting the silhouette of a traditional hairstyle, and then grafting a digital textile printed fabric using majestic and extravagant royal relics on top, thus employing the trompe l'oeil technique to ultimately give the impression of wearing traditional jewelry. As a result, a total of six hair accessory designs were completed, produced with hairbands, hair pins, and hair ties. In addition, the accessories are designed to be easily worn regardless of the wearer's hair style, and the stiff yet flexible nylon mesh effectively expresses the shape of a voluminous hairstyle and creates an optical illusion, blending into the hair. These research results present a unique aesthetic and cultural experience to the greater public seeking both daily entertainment and value from rarity.

  • The advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is accelerating innovation across society, and the defense sector is no exception as it adopts technologies aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In particular, the Army is making efforts to establish an advanced Army TIGER 4.0 system, aiming to create highly intelligent and interconnected mobile units. To achieve this, the Army is integrating cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements from the Fourth Industrial Revolution to enhance mobility, networking, and intelligence. However, the existing addressing system, IPv4, has limitations in meeting the exponentially increasing demands for network IP addresses. Consequently, the military considers IPv6 address allocation as an essential process to ensure efficient network management and address space provisioning. This study proposes an approach for IPv6 address allocation for the future military, considering the Army TIGER system. The proposal outlines how the application networks of the Army can be differentiated, and IP addresses can be allocated to future unit structures of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, from the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Through this approach, the Army's advanced ground combat system, Army TIGER 4.0, is expected to operate more efficiently in network environments, enhancing overall information exchange and mobility for the future military.

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between service recovery justice, residual emotions, and customer behavior. It empirically verifies that low justice in service recovery affects residual emotions and, in turn, has an impact on customers' negative behaviors. Furthermore, this research distinguishes customer-brand relationship quality into emotional relationship quality and cognitive relationship quality and seeks to validate that the type of relationship quality may influence the extent to which the justice of recovery processes affects residual emotions. Data was collected through surveys, and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. The research findings indicate that among the dimensions of service recovery justice, procedural justice and interactional justice significantly influence residual emotions. Moreover, residual emotions have a significant impact on both the intention to revisit and the intention to engage in negative word-of-mouth. In addition, the impact of distributive justice and procedural justice on residual emotions was found to be higher for cognitive relationship quality than emotional relationship quality, and the impact of interactional justice on residual emotions was found to be higher for emotional relationship quality than cognitive relationship quality.

  • The diploid Solanum cardiophyllum, a wild tuberbearing species from Mexico is one of the relatives to potato, S. tuberosum. It has been identified as a source of resistance to crucial pathogens and insects such as Phytophthora infestans, Potato virus Y, Colorado potato beetle, etc. and is widely used for potato breeding. However, the sexual hybridization between S. cardiophyllum and S. tuberosum is limited due to their incompatibility. Therefore, somatic hybridization can introduce beneficial traits from this wild species into the potato. After somatic hybridization, selecting fusion products using molecular markers is essential. In the current study, the chloroplast genome of S. cardiophyllum was sequenced by next-generation sequencing technology and compared with those of other Solanum species to develop S. cardiophyllum-specific markers. The total length of the S. cardiophyllum chloroplast genome was 155,570 bp and its size, gene content, order and orientation were similar to those of the other Solanum species. Phylogenic analysis with 32 other Solanaceae species revealed that S. cardiophyllum was expectedly grouped with other Solanum species and most closely located with S. bulbocastanum. Through detailed comparisons of the chloroplast genome sequences of eight Solanum species, we identified 13 SNPs specific to S. cardiophyllum. Further, four SNP-specific PCR markers were developed for discriminating S. cardiophyllum from other Solanum species. The results obtained in this study would help to explore the evolutionary aspects of Solanum species and accelerate breeding using S. cardiophyllum.
