Influence of Perception to Good Death and Hospice on Dying Care Attitude among Nursing Students in the Convergence era (융복합시대 간호대학생의 좋은죽음과 호스피스 인식이 임종간호태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate levels of perception of good death and hospice, and attitude of dying care, to examine relationships among them, and then to investigate predictors affecting of attitude of dying care in nursing students. The participants were 229 nursing students in D city who were surveyed in May to June 2019 using self-report questionnaires. Perception of good death and hospice, and attitude of dying care were related positively among variables. In the multiple regression analysis, perception of good death, and perception of hospice were influential factors significantly associated with the attitude of dying care. Those factors explained 39.3% of the attitude of dying care in nursing students. The most important factor was perception of hospice. In order to encourage and improve positive perception of death and attitude of dying care in nursing students, nursing educators should consider building up and reinforcing the curriculum of nursing college.

A Study on the Career Awareness of Korean University Students and Vietnamese University Students Majoring in Health Care (보건의료 전공 한국 대학생과 베트남 대학생의 진로 의식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the career awareness of Korean university students and Vietnamese university students majoring in health care and provide base data about career education. To this end, a survey was conducted on Korean university students and Vietnamese university students majoring in health care from February 1, 2020 to February 20, 2020, and the 200 copies of valid survey questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS 20.0. The study findings are as follows. First, there are significant differences in career awareness between the two countries. Second, in the verification of career awareness differences depending on the nationality, Korean university students were 'certain about their career direction' and 'had a firm will about their career' while Vietnamese university students 'put off or remained idle about their career concerns' and 'were strongly influenced by the advice from the people around them.' Based on the study findings, it was identified that a convergence career education program that reflects on cultural diversity should be opened and applied in international exchange programs so that university students can prepare for their careers effectively.

Analysis of research trends in the healthcare field utilizing extended-reality-based converged contents (확장현실 기반 융복합 콘텐츠를 활용한 보건의료 분야의 연구 동향 분석)

  • Objectives: Extended reality technology offers an innovative opportunity to enhance self-directed learning through interactive processes in healthcare education. This study aims to analyze research trends in the application of extended reality technology-based educational content in the field of healthcare. Methods: Through literature search, selection, and exclusion processes based on predefined criteria, we conducted an analysis of domestic healthcare studies employing extended reality technology, ultimately selecting and examining 39 relevant publications. Results: The analysis reveals diverse applications of extended reality across various fields such as medicine, dentistry, and nursing. Positive effects, including increased academic satisfaction, immersion, and interest, are observed, alongside challenges like media usage difficulties and cybersickness. Conclusions: Future research should focus on the development and application of extended reality-based educational content in diverse healthcare curricula, emphasizing both educational approaches and continuous technological advancements.

The Development of the Convergence Education Program based on the Creation of Scientific and Cultural Content (과학문화콘텐츠 구성을 기반으로 한 융합형 교육 프로그램의 개발 방안)

  • Recently there are growing needs and demand to enhance 'Unity of knowledge' as the concept of "Creating new value through integration and convergence" is developing rapidly in many different areas in the society. This also has significant implication to education. Especially, it requires paradigm shift in terms of required capabilities and qualifications for the students with science major. To accommodate this trend, Natural Sciences and Engineering's College has been increasing convergence education which focus on cultivating creative and cooperative learning capabilities as well as acquiring fundamental knowledge of individual majors. However, convergence education developed and implemented by Sciences college or liberal education so far has been mechanical combination of knowledge from different academic fields - not effectively integrated and interdisciplinary education. Given this situation, this research is to develop and propose a "convergence education program based on the development of scientific and cultural contents" as an education tool to enhance capabilities to apply and re-create integrated knowledge as well as acquire and learn existing knowledge. Education program developed in this research aims to achieve two different and sequential capabilities. First is to understand 'Science and Technology' and 'Cultural Archetype' which would be essential and useful to create cultural contents. Second is to develop capabilities to convert this understanding into cultural contents - a storytelling capability. This education program is differentiated in that it defines cultural contents as a medium to converge and integrate science and technology and humanities. By leveraging the concept of cultural content and storytelling, this education program would be able to overcome restrictions of existing interdisciplinary approach. Also, this program would encourage students to try in-depth research and new applications, and develop logical and creative thinking.

Implications of Science Education as Interdisciplinary Education through the Cases of Scientists and Artists in the Modern Era: Focus on the Relationship Between Science and the Arts (근대 과학자와 예술가의 사례를 통해 살펴 본 융복합교육으로서의 과학교육: 과학과 예술을 중심으로)

  • The convergence and consilience in education (hereafter, interdisciplinary education) is receiving great attention from societies. This study aims to investigate the works of scientists and artists who have intended to combine science with the arts in the modern era, to take into account the socio-philosophical setbacks during the period, and to suggest pedagogical implications of science education as interdisciplinary education. The concept of interdisciplinary education stems from Plato's thought, idea, as a comprehensive and invariant truth. The renaissance, full of enrichment about scientific achievement, was based on Neo-Platonism pursuing holistic-synthetic approach. During the time, scientists presented in this study tried to find comprehensive principles and borrow useful method from the arts. In such a context, scientists not only made use of the arts for expression of scientific knowledge, but also drew conclusion by analogical reasoning between science and the arts. Artists, as well, relied upon anatomy and optics especially, to elaborate linear perspective and even developed their own scientific knowledge through personal experience. Hence, contemporary science education should encourage students to hold a holistic viewpoint about science and the arts, articulate explicit goals and outcomes as interdisciplinary education, implement meta-disciplinary instruction about science and the arts, and develop assessment framework for collaborative learning. There may be good examples for inter-disciplinary education as listed: illustrating scientific ideas through the arts and vice versa, organizing collaborative works and evaluations criteria for them, and stressing problem solving on a daily basis.

A Study on the Condition of Prevention System and Convergence Policy for Smart Media Addiction (스마트미디어중독 예방체계 실태와 융복합 정책 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine problems and status quo of the smart media addiction prevention system and to develop convergence policies to improve those systems. Based on the literature review, notable results are as following; Since current facilities including Internet Addiction Prevention Center, Korea Youth Counselling and Welfare Institute, and I Will Center, tend to focus on restricting use of smart media, efforts from various ministries have not worked properly. Therefore, there needs to be more specified and customized services based on regions and ages. Following the precedent set by advanced countries, this study suggest alternative policies to help solving the problem including recommending responsible use of social media through education rather than regulations only, encouraging family participation and intervention, expanding harmful environment block system, and establishing a partnership between local government and private organizations under central government's control. Since smart media addiction is emerging concern, further researches will be needed for developing the Korean standard for prevention policy.

  • The objectives of this study were to discuss policy for university restructuring from the viewpoint of Habermas' theory of communicative action in Covergence Society, and to provide implications for university restructuring policy in Korea. This study was conducted as a literature review, it discussed the university restructuring policy in Korea, the meaning of Habermas' theory of communicative action, and its implications for university restructuring policy. The main concept of Habermas' theory of communicative action is mutual understanding, and the theory perceives society as systems and lifeworld. Lifeworld pursues communicative rationality. University restructuring in Korea should be promoted through communication between the government and university members rather than through the forced distribution of money by state power.

Study on the Impact of Various Economic Experience in Adolescence on Formation of Economic View in an age of convergence (융복합시대 청소년기의 다양한 경제 경험이 경제관 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study verified the effectiveness of various economic experience in adolescence on forming economic view. Survey was carried out for Asan-si residents and online homepage visitors in Sep. 2015, 116 cases were finally used for analysis. This study confirmed the moderating effect of interest in economy on the relationship between various economic experience in adolescence and formation of economic view, and analyzed differences depend on economic knowledge learning path. Various economic experience in adolescence positively affected economic comprehension, rational consumption attitude, start-up intention and the moderating effect of interest in the economy was verified. Demographic Characteristics and economic knowledge learning path also affected differences of economic view by the group. These study results suggest that experiential youth economic education program will be effective on forming economic view.

Effects of emotional labor, job stress and burnout on somatization in nurses : In convergence era (융복합 시대의 간호사의 감정노동, 직무스트레스 및 소진이 신체화 증상에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was done to identify the influence of emotional labor, job stress and burnout on somatization of nurses live in convergence era. The participants were 387 nurses in D hospital. The average mean score for emotional labor was 3.25, occupational stress was 3.60, burnout was 3.10, and somatization was 2.18. For relations with general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference in somatization according to age, marital status, educational level, work unit, total clinical career, present department career, position, monthly salary, shift and job satisfaction. Somatization was found to be in a significant positive correlation with emotional labor, occupational stress and burnout. As a result, factor influencing somatization was burnout. This predictor accounted for 29.6% of variance in somatization. The findings of this study showed that burnout was major influencing factor on somatization of nurses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies that can reduce somatization by controlling burnout.

Correlation Between Critical Thinking Ability and Disposition of University Nursing Students for the Development of Convergence (대학생의 융복합 능력 함양을 위한 비판적 사고력과 비판적 사고성향의 연관성)

  • This study was investigate difference between critical thinking ability and disposition for the development of convergence. Data were collected from Nov. 5th to 16th 2012, using critical thinking instruments. There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking ability according to scholastic standards and problem-based learning classes but difference according to level of education(senior students were higher than the other grades), clinical practice education and completion of critical thinking subject. There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking disposition according to anything. Upon examining the correlation between critical thinking ability and disposition, it was significant, although small. Therefore we should separate for evaluation into two parts; critical thinking ability and disposition.
