  • This study aimed to examine public concerns in South Korea considering the country's unique context, triggered by the advent of generative artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT. To achieve this, comments from 102 YouTube video news related to ethical issues were collected using a Python scraper, and morphological analysis and preprocessing were carried out using Textom on 15,735 comments. These comments were then analyzed using a Correlated Topic Model (CTM). The analysis identified six primary topics within the comments: "Legal and Ethical Considerations"; "Intellectual Property and Technology"; "Technological Advancement and the Future of Humanity"; "Potential of AI in Information Processing"; "Emotional Intelligence and Ethical Regulations in AI"; and "Human Imitation."Structuring these topics based on a correlation coefficient value of over 10% revealed 3 main categories: "Legal and Ethical Considerations"; "Issues Related to Data Generation by ChatGPT (Intellectual Property and Technology, Potential of AI in Information Processing, and Human Imitation)"; and "Fear for the Future of Humanity (Technological Advancement and the Future of Humanity, Emotional Intelligence, and Ethical Regulations in AI)."The study confirmed the coexistence of various concerns along with the growing interest in generative AI like ChatGPT, including worries specific to the historical and social context of South Korea. These findings suggest the need for national-level efforts to ensure data fairness.

  • After the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been growing interests in metaverse technology and social use of virtual reality platforms in non-face-to-face environments, but social issues and ethical concerns raised by metaverse have not been sufficiently discussed. In this paper, we discuss the social functions of the metaverse by examining the movie 'Ready Player One', and investigate the ethical problems that may arise in various implementation of metaverse. We identify the potential ethical problems that could occur in the context of metaverse including identity fragmentation, metaverse violence and crime, and mismanagement of personal information. We also propose some promising approaches to tackle these ethical problems ranging over descriptive ethics, normative ethics, and analytical (meta) ethics.

  • The study explores the ethical issues surrounding AI-generated art, which is rapidly becoming more prevalent across various fields. AI technology has revolutionized art creation and management, but this rise has sparked debates on the creativity, ethics, and social responsibility of AI-generated artworks. The study aims to examine and analyze attitudes toward these ethical concerns, focusing on the recognition of AI art's creativity, its social responsibility, and ways to address ethical issues in its creation process. It emphasizes the need to recognize AI's unique creativity while establishing clear ethical guidelines to manage these new forms of art. Key findings indicate that while AI democratizes art by enabling more people to engage in creation, it also risks diluting the unique creativity of human artists and impacting their market positions. The research highlights the necessity of indicating sources and securing permissions to avoid copyright infringements and calls for automated copyright management systems and ethical standards. Moreover, it underscores the importance of ensuring AI-generated art does not reinforce social biases and is accessible and fairly distributed. The study concludes that ongoing research and policy development are essential to ensure AI art positively impacts society and culture, fostering innovative and creative expressions responsibly.

  • This study problematizes the youth‘s politico-cultural process of identification as becoming in the context of candle demonstration in Seoul, 2008. We examine their ethical subjectivity, communicative subjectivity and political subjectivity based on our analysis of depth interviews of teenage activists in the candle demonstrations. It is suggested that instead of naming the teens as the historical consequence of so-called 386 generation, or social product in the neo-liberal economic and educational conditions, we need to understand the complexities and dynamics of the youth’s practice of identity politics: subjective pain and anxiety in daily life, creation and sharing of pleasure and fun of peer group comunication are mixed into the pursuit of justice in their social activation of generation/gender politics.
