  • This paper is concerned with identifying the determinants of committing digital piracy in university settings. Using a theoretical model based on Theory of Reasoned Action, the causal relationship among the research variables, including intention to commit digital piracy, attitude, subjective norm and fear of legal consequences, is developed. Results from 295 survey responses indicate that fear of legal consequences affect the subjective norm and the attitude, which in turn influence the intention to commit digital piracy. In addition, relativism based on EPQ(Ethics Perception Questionnaire) is introduced as a moderating variable. The relative influences of path coefficients are investigated and implications from findings are also discussed.

  • Based on the social control theory, this study intends to find out the influential factors of organizational members' information security policy compliance (ISPC). Survey data from 195 military officers were analyzed to examine the effect of ethical disposition (morality, responsibility, the perceived value of ethical education) and perceived work environment (relationships with supervisors, overwork, and pay satisfaction) on ISPC attitude, ISPC intention, and turnover intention. The results of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) show that ethical dispositions affect ISPC attitude and that work environments (except for pay satisfaction) affect turnover intention. In addition, ISPC attitude significantly mediates relations between ethical disposition and ISPC intention, between relationships with supervisors and ISPC intention, and between turnover intention and ISPC intention. These findings suggest that ethical disposition factors can predict an individual's security awareness level, and the ISPC attitude is a significant variable in the organizational security context.

  • The aim of this study was to the self-concept and ethical propensity of dental hygienists. The subjects of this study were 748 dental hygienists from January 23 to March 30, 2012. Data were analyzed with t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis SPSS 19.0. The average score of self-concept was 3.44 points in dental hygienists. The self-concept scores were higher in absolutists (3.53 points) and situationists (3.51 points) than subjectivists (3.35 points) and exceptionists (3.35 points) in the ethical types. The self-concept Influence factors were idealism, relativism, job satisfaction level, and annual salary. In order to help dental hygiene students adopt to rapidly changing society, the university should make efforts to develop a curriculum and program for improving self concept and ethical propensity.

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition with respect to the Code of Ethics of nurses among nursing students. A descriptive correlation research design was used for this study. The subjects were 299 nursing students in two large cities from 1 June to 31 July 2015. Collected data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and stepwise multiple regression by the SPSS 22.0 program. The results revealed that female subjects comprised 86.65% of the subjects and the mean age was 21.67 years. Awareness of the Code of Ethics for nurses was positively correlated with the consciousness of biomedical ethics(p<0.001), moral sensitivity(p<0.001), and critical thinking disposition(p<0.001). However, there were negative correlations between grade(p=0.017), marital state(p=0.012), and the possibility of increasing ethical problems according to the development of bioscience(p=0.012). Significant influencing factors of the awareness of the Code of Ethics for nurses included grade(p=0.013), marital state(p=0.030), consciousness of biomedical ethics(p=0.017), moral sensitivity(p<0.001), and critical thinking disposition(p=0.001), with apower of explanation of 26.3%. The results of this study show that the consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition are factors influencing the code of ethics for nurses among nursing students.

  • This study is a descriptive survey study that attempted to confirm clinical nurses' consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity, critical thinking deposition, and nursing ethics code of clinical nurses, as well as to identify the factors influencing the recognition of the nursing code of ethics. The general and ethical characteristics of the subject were calculated by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and the difference for each variable according to the general and ethical characteristics was analyzed using SAS 9.4, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA, and Scheffé test. The average, standard deviation, and the minimum and maximum values were used for the scores of each variable, and the correlation was determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Multiple regression was used to identify the factors that influence the recognition of the nurse's code of ethics. All variables showed significant correlations. Critical thinking deposition (p<.05) was the most influential variable in recognizing the code of ethics for nurses. Critical thinking deposition (p<.001), consciousness in biomedical ethics (p<.001), and moral sensitivity (p<.001) were shown to be affected in order, with 27.4% explaining power. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs to clinical nurses that can improve critical thinking, life and bioethics, and moral sensitivity.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of ethical decision making confidence in nursing students and to provide the basic data of to control ethical decision making confidence. Data were collected from 205 nursing students in B city and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0. The degree of ethical decision making confidence in nursing students was 3.83±.62. There were significant differences in ethical decision making confidence with respect to gender(t=2.118, p=.037), achivement of life(F=3.851, p=.023). There was positive correlation between ethical decision making confidence and ethical value(r=.153, p=.028), critical thinking disposition(r=.477, p<.001), and professional self concept(r=.566, p<.001). The factors affecting the ethical decision making confidence of the study subjects were critical thinking disposition(β=.254, p<.001), professional self concept(β=.418, p<.001), with an explanatory power of 35.1%. Through this research requires the fellow study to determine the factors affecting ethical decision making confidence of nursing students.

  • This research aims to strengthen the ethical decision-making capability of nursing students, and involves 82 fourth-year undergraduate nursing students in a nonequivalent control group pre-post quasi experimental research design from March 4 to June 3, 2013. Experimental group took a discussion-based class and control group took a traditional lecture-based class and we identified the differences in ethical knowledge, class satisfaction and ethical values between the two groups. Experimental group had higher scores for ethical knowledge after the class. There was no significant change in ethical values after the class in the two groups. The experimental group achieved significantly higher scores for the comprehension of class contents and practical application within the class satisfaction criteria. So we propose to use this model as an effect teaching method to apply ethical principles in nursing practice.

  • This study aimed to explore the patterns of college students' dialogic argumentation in the context of nanotechnology issues, and to compare these patterns based on their idiocentrism and allocentrism. Nanotechnology represents the characteristics of socioscientific issues in that it is widely used in various fields, but at the same time, it includes the likelihood of negative effects. 33 college students who enrolled in science-related course participated in this study. Participants were divided into idiocentric groups and allocentric groups based on the INDCOL scores, and they participated in group discussions on nanotechnology. All discussions were audiotaped and analyzed using the framework of discourse clusters and schemes. Results showed that participating students engaged in dialogic argumentation with the process of exchanging of individual perspectives, exploration of different perspectives, and coordination and negotiation; specifically, they spent most of their time in exploring different values and perspectives regarding nanotechnology. Results also indicated the differences in discourse clusters and discourse schemes between idiocentric and allocentric groups. Allocentric groups more often negotiated to settle on a group decision than idiocentric groups did, and discourse schemes in their negotiation process were slightly different from the ones in idiocentric groups.
