An exceptional case of inhabitation of a Sphagnum sp. was firstly confirmed at abandoned paddy terrace (APT) wetland in Ansan. Water sampling for analyzing of physicochemical conditions including nutrients such as NP, $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ was performed and the vegetation map for distribution of Sphagnum sp., topographical map, and flora list for companion species were made at field in June 2011. From the results, the Sphagnum sp. in the study site was identified as S. palustre and it covered about 8% of the wetland cover of 3,200 $m^2$. Most distributions of S. palustre were observed at tussock structures as micro-topography by sedges and grasses within a wetland (74%) and the shaded slope area under Pinus densiflora's canopy in wetland boundary (26%). Despite that APT in Ansan is relatively lower wetland in altitude than high moors, the contents of calcium ($0.45{\pm}0.2$) and magnesium ($1.48{\pm}0.6$) ion which are critical limiting factors for Sphagnum spp. were very low levels as well as NP ($PO_4$-P, $0.02{\pm}0.0$; $NO_3$-N, $0.25{\pm}0.3$; $NH_4$-N, $0.06{\pm}0.1$) and it could enable the inhabitation of S. palustre in lower APT.
A magnetic quadrupole doublet was fabricated for use at the pre-target position of SNU 1.5MV Van de Graaff accelerator and then its optical characteristics were measured and analysed. The physical dimensions are: pole length 180mm, aperture radius 25mm, pole tip radius 28.75mm. Material for poles and return yokes is carbon steel KS-SM40C. Coils have 480 turns per one pole and air-cooling is adopted. Applying the d.c. current 2.99$\pm$0.03A to the lens, and using the Hall probe, magnetic field elements $B_{\theta}$ , $B_{\gamma}$, were measured at the selected Points along each coordinate direction r,$\theta$, z. From the area integration and orthogonal polynomial fitting for the measured data, the magnetic Field gradient G=566.3$\pm$2.1 gauss/cm at lens center, the effective length L=208.3$\pm$1.44mm along the lens axis have been obtained. The harmonic contents were determined up to 20-pole from the generalized least squares fitting. The results indicate that sextupole/quadrupole is below 1.4$\pm$0.9% and all the other multipoles are below 0.5% in the region within 18mm radius at the center of lens.

To reduce the damage of extreme flooding caused by climate change and to create flood mitigation sections in a nature-friendly riparian area, it is necessary to restore the floodplain area by referring to the past floodplain section of the current inland waterfront area before the levee was built. This study proposed a method of selecting a location for floodplain restoration using old maps of the Geum River study section and analyzed the effect of flood level reduction through unsteady flow numerical simulations using the floodplain as a flood mitigation space. As a result of analyzing changes in the river areas using old maps, the river section was estimated to gradually reduce by 27.8% (1,059,380 m2) in 2020 compared to 1919, and it was found to have an effective storage capacity of 2,200,868 m3 when restored to offline storage. The flood level and discharge control effects analyzed based on HEC-RAS unsteady flow simulation were 16 cm and 219.01 m3/s, respectively, in the downstream cross-section. In the numerical simulation in this paper, the flood mitigation space was applied as an offline reservoir. The effect of reducing the flood level may differ if levee retreat/relocation is applied.

Light is an important component among which plays a crucial role in determining the production and quality of fruit trees. Since the disturbance of light directly leads to reduced photosynthetic efficiency, their damage can be increased especially in fruit trees such as Japanese apricots with a short growing time. In this study, we investigated how the effects of shading condition can affect the production and quality of Japanese apricots according to increased damages by light disturbance in the main orchard complex. The average photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) level in Japanese apricots was rapidly dropped as the shading time was increased compared to the control (304 μmol/m2/s) and the PAR level decreased to 142 μmol/m2/s after shaded for eight hours. The maximum photosynthetic efficiency, with a PAR value of 900 to 1,000 μmol/m2/s, corresponds to the time period without shading and the time period with 2 hours of shading, and these times range from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. And the time period for shading for 4 hours was from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and under conditions of shading for 6 and 8 hours, the effect was a low amount of light. There was no difference in the weight of Japanese apricots during 2 hours shading time, however, it was significantly reduced as shading time were increased. The difference of the acid content and L/D ratio was not significant on shading time, but the SSC was decreased as times going on. In conclusion, our results indicate that the shading for more than 2 hours make negative effects to decrease the weight and SSC and the yield and affects directly to drop in fruit quality.
Since IR8, the first high-yielding rice cultivar characterised by semidwarf and high-tillering, was released in 1966, rice yields during the last two decades have apparently reached a plateau and subsequent efforts to further improve yielding ability have not resulted in visible gains. At this point of time, a new ideotype of rice plant would be necessary to increase grain yield potential. This experiment was conducted to investigate the yield contribution of different tillers within a plant in relation to an ideo type of rice plant. A low-tillering, large panicled IR25588 was compared with a high-tillering, small panicled IR58. Based on spikelet number and grain weight per panicle, the top six panicles in both low- and high-tillering cultivarswere significantly bigger than those in the other panicles. The top six panicles were M, PI, P2, P3, P4 and S1P2 in both cultivars. Their tillers had 100% probability of occurring. The top six tillers were characterised by earlier initiation and heading, longer growth duration, greater leaf area. and heavier culm and total dry weight per tiller. The top six panicles, based on grain weight was mainly due to higher spikelet number per panicle with little differences in 1,000 grain weight and percent fertility. They had also a greater number of high -density grains. The top six panicles were significantly bigger than the rest of the panicles in both low- and high-tilliering types suggesting that a new rice ideotype having six or fewer potential tillers or panicles per paint with 200 to 250 spikelets per panicle (a low-tillering, paicle weight type) may help increase grain yield potential since they have been shown to be superior physio-morphologically to the rest of the tillers.
The purpose of this paper was to schedule optimum cutting strategy which could maximize the total yield under certain restrictions on periodic timber removals and harvest areas from an industrial forest, based on a linear programming technique. Sensitivity of the regulation model to variations in restrictions has also been analyzed to get information on the changes of total yield in the planning period. The regulation procedure has been made on the experimental forest of the Agricultural College of Seoul National University. The forest is composed of 219 cutting units, and characterized by younger age group which is very common in Korea. The planning period is devided into 10 cutting periods of five years each, and cutting is permissible only on the stands of age groups 5-9. It is also assumed in the study that the subsequent forests are established immediately after cutting existing forests, non-stocked forest lands are planted in first cutting period, and established forests are fully stocked until next harvest. All feasible cutting regimes have been defined to each unit depending on their age groups. Total yield (Vi, k) of each regime expected in the planning period has been projected using stand yield tables and forest inventory data, and the regime which gives highest Vi, k has been selected as a optimum cutting regime. After calculating periodic yields and cutting areas, and total yield from the optimum regimes selected without any restrictions, the upper and lower limits of periodic yields(Vj-max, Vj-min) and those of periodic cutting areas (Aj-max, Aj-min) have been decided. The optimum regimes under such restrictions have been selected by linear programming. The results of the study may be summarized as follows:- 1. The fluctuations of periodic harvest yields and areas under cutting regimes selected without restrictions were very great, because of irregular composition of age classes and growing stocks of existing stands. About 68.8 percent of total yield is expected in period 10, while none of yield in periods 6 and 7. 2. After inspection of the above solution, restricted optimum cutting regimes were obtained under the restrictions of Amin=150 ha, Amax=400ha, $Vmin=5,000m^3$ and $Vmax=50,000m^3$, using LP regulation model. As a result, about $50,000m^3$ of stable harvest yield per period and a relatively balanced age group distribution is expected from period 5. In this case, the loss in total yield was about 29 percent of that of unrestricted regimes. 3. Thinning schedule could be easily treated by the model presented in the study, and the thinnings made it possible to select optimum regimes which might be effective for smoothing the wood flows, not to speak of increasing total yield in the planning period. 4. It was known that the stronger the restrictions becomes in the optimum solution the earlier the period comes in which balanced harvest yields and age group distribution can be formed. There was also a tendency in this particular case that the periodic yields were strongly affected by constraints, and the fluctuations of harvest areas depended upon the amount of periodic yields. 5. Because the total yield was decreased at the increasing rate with imposing stronger restrictions, the Joss would be very great where strict sustained yield and normal age group distribution are required in the earlier periods. 6. Total yield under the same restrictions in a period was increased by lowering the felling age and extending the range of cutting age groups. Therefore, it seemed to be advantageous for producing maximum timber yield to adopt wider range of cutting age groups with the lower limit at which the smallest utilization size of timber could be produced. 7. The LP regulation model presented in the study seemed to be useful in the Korean situation from the following point of view: (1) The model can provide forest managers with the solution of where, when, and how much to cut in order to best fulfill the owners objective. (2) Planning is visualized as a continuous process where new strateges are automatically evolved as changes in the forest environment are recognized. (3) The cost (measured as decrease in total yield) of imposing restrictions can be easily evaluated. (4) Thinning schedule can be treated without difficulty. (5) The model can be applied to irregular forests. (6) Traditional regulation methods can be rainforced by the model.

Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate characteristics for removing ammonia-nitrogens by electrolysis methods. A stainless steel plate is used as the cathode and either $IrO_2{\backslash}Ti$ plate serves as the anode. Experiments were conducted to examine the effects of the operating conditions, such as the current density, retention time, electrode gap, $Cl^-/NH_4{^+}-N$ on the $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal efficiency. Possible optimum range for these operating variables are experimentally determined. The $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal efficiencies between plate type anode and net type anode were about same effect, but electrolytic power using net type anode is low than plate type anode. The $Cl^-/NH_4{^+}-N$ ratio was about $20.0kgCl^-/kgNH_4{^+}-N$ when $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal obtained 73 %, $Cl^-/NH_4{^+}-N$ ratio needs $27.6kgCl^-/kgNH_4{^+}-N$ so as to $NH_4{^+}-N$ completely remove. The removal efficiency of $NH_4{^+}-N$ increase with current density, retention time and $Cl^-/NH_4{^+}-N$ ratio, but decreased with increasing electrode gap. The relationship of operating conditions and $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal efficiencies are $$NH_4{^+}-N_{re}(%)=14.5364(Current\;density)^{0.7093}{\times}(HRT)^{1.0060}{\times}(Gap)^{-0.9926}{\times}(Cl^-/NH_4{^+}-N)^{1.0024}$$ With adding COD or/and alkalinity, relationships are $$NH_4{^+}-N_{re}(%)=9.8408(Current\;density)^{0.6232}{\times}(HRT)^{1.0534}$$ There existed a competition between the removals for $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $COD_{Cr}$ during electrolysis, the removal of $NH_4{^+}-N$ was shown to be dominant. $NH_4{^+}-N$ removal was high as addition of glucose and alkalinity.

The objectives of this study were to determine the impact of soil water content on the growth, stomatal conductance, and photosynthesis of Kimchi cabbage and to evaluate proper parameters for development of growth models. There were five levels of irrigation amount treatments (0, 200, 300, 400, and 500 mL/d/plant) and those were commenced at one day after transplanting (DAT). We measured soil water content, stomatal conductance, photosynthesis characteristics, and the A-Ci curve. The growth of Kimchi cabbage as affected by irrigation amount was evaluated at 38 days after transplanting, however, the growth with 0 and 200 mL/d/plant irrigation amount treatments measured at 29 DAT. The relationship between soil water content and stomatal conductance was highly correlated ($r^2=0.999$) and the function represented by y = 6097.4x - 4.2984. The stomatal conductance of Kimchi cabbage leaves showed $300mmol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ when the soil water content was below $0.05m^3/m^3$. The stomatal conductance was rapidly decreased by scarcity of soil moisture. A-Ci curve indicated normal curve in fully irrigation treatment (500 mL/d/plant), however, $CO_2$ couldn't diffuse through the intercellular Kimchi cabbage leaves treated with 0 mL/d/plant. The dry weight of full irrigation treatment was greater approximately 6.8 times than that of deficit irrigation (0 mL/d/plant). In addition, leaf area index showed a logarithmic function (y = 16.573 + 3.398 ln x) with soil water content and that of R-squared represents 0.913. Results indicated that the soil water content was highly correlated with stomatal conductance and leaf area index. Indeed, the scarcity soil moisture reduced photosynthesis and retarded growth.

The main purpose of this paper is to deliver a climate analysis and evaluation method based on GIS by using airborne LiDAR data and Biotop type map and to provide spatial information of climate analysis and evaluation based on Biotop type Map. At first stage, the area, slope, slope length, surface, wind corridor function and width, and obstacle factors were analyzed to obtain cold/fresh air production and wind corridor evaluation. In addition, climate evaluation was derived from those two results in the second stage. Airborne LiDAR data are useful in wind corridor analysis during the study. Correlation analysis results show that ColdAir_GRD grade was highly correlated with Surface_GRD (-0.967461139) and WindCorridor_ GRD was highly correlated with Function_GRD (-0.883883476) and Obstacle_GRD (-0.834057656). Climate Evaluation GRID was highly correlated with WindCorridor_GRD (0.927554516) than ColdAir_GRD (0.855051646). Visual validations of climate analysis and evaluation results were performed by using aerial ortho-photo image, which shows that the climate evaluation results were well related with in-situ condition. At the end, we applied climate analysis and evaluation by using Biotop map and airborne LiDAR data in Gwangmyung-Shiheung City, candidate for the Bogeumjari Housing District. The results show that the aerial percentile of the 1st Grade is 18.5%, 2nd Grade is 18.2%, 3rd Grade is 30.7%, 4th Grade is 25.2%, and 5th Grade is 7.4%. This study process provided both the spatial analysis and evaluation of climate information and statistics on behalf of each Biotop type.
To get the basic information about ginseng seedling production, yields of ginseng seedling and soil physico-chemical components in 32 fields of Yang-Jik and 19 fields of Ban-Yang-Jik nursery were investigated. Germination rate is $78.5{\pm}3.0%$, $77.8{\pm}2.8%$ in Yang-Jik and Ban-Yang-Jik. Rate of number of mature seedlings to number of seeds planted is $62{\pm}13.5%$, $53{\pm}12.6%$ in Yang-Jik and Ban-Yang-Jik. Rate of number of available seedlings to number of seeds planted (Rate of available seedling) is $42{\pm}12.5%$, $26{\pm}12.1%$ in Yang-Jik and Ban-Yang-Jik. The number of available seedlings per Kan (Kan means $180{\times}90cm$ area) is $627{\pm}187$, $368{\pm}182$ in Yang-Jik and Ban-Yang-Jik. Rate of number of unusable seedlings to number of mature seedlings is 34%, 51% in Yang-Jik and Ban-Yang-Jik. It showed the negative correlation between amount of coarse sand and stem height, and central leaf length, on the other hand, possitive correlation between amount of extremely fine sand, and stem height, and central leaf length respectively. Rate of available seedling was positively correlated with amount of medium, fine and extremely fine sand, whereas negatively correlated with amount of coarse sand in Yang-Jik. Root weight per seedling was positively correlated with amount of medium, fine and extremely fine sand. Contents of organic matter, available phosphate and potassium in Ban-Yang-Jik were higher than those of Yang-Jik, but content of lime was higher in Yang-Jik compared to that of Ban-Yang-Jik. Possitive correlations were showed between leaf area per seedling and content of organic matter, and between stem height and content of lime in Yang-Jik. Root weight per seedling was positively correlated with content of organic matter and magnesium in Ban-Yang-Jik, but there is no correlation between any of soil chemical components and root weight in Yang-Jik.
