Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Incipient Failure in Journal Bearings( III ) - Development of AE Diagnosis System for Journal Bearings - (음향 방출을 이용한 저어널 베어링의 조기 파손 감지(III) -저어널 베어링 AE 진단 시스템 개발-)

  • For the condition monitoring of the journal bearing in rotating machinery, a system for their diagnosis by acoustic emission(AE) was developed. AE has been used to detect abnormal conditions in the bearing system. It was found from the field application study as well as the laboratory experiment using a simulated journal bearing system that AE RMS voltage was the most efficient parameter for the purpose of current study. Based on the above results, algorithms and judgement criteria for the diagnosis system was established. The system is composed of four parts as follows: the sensing part including AE sensor and preamplifier, the signal processing part for RMS-to-DC conversion to measure AE ms voltage, the interface part for transferring RMS voltage data into PC using A/D converter, and the software part including the graphic display of bearing conditions and the diagnosis program.

An Algorithm of Minimum Bandpass Sampling Selection with Guard-band Between Down-converted Adjacent IF signals (하향변환된 인접 IF신호간의 보호대역을 고려한 최소 대역통과 샘플링 주파수 선택 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes, based on a bandpass sampling theory, a novel method to find valid sampling frequency range and minimum sampling rate with low computational complexity for downconversion of N bandpass radio frequency(RF) signals, under application of all possible signal placements(full permutations) in a IF stage. Additionally, we have developed a complexity-reducing method to obtaine the opttimal and minimal sampling rate for supporting the user-wanted guard-band or spacing between adjacent downconverted signal spectrums. Moreover, we have verified through comparisons with other methods that the proposed methods have more advantageous properties.

Performance Improvements for Silence Feature Normalization Method by Using Filter Bank Energy Subtraction (필터 뱅크 에너지 차감을 이용한 묵음 특징 정규화 방법의 성능 향상)

  • In this paper we proposed FSFN (Filter bank sub-band energy subtraction based CLSFN) method to improve the recognition performance of the existing CLSFN (Cepstral distance and Log-energy based Silence Feature Normalization). The proposed FSFN reduces the energy of noise components in filter bank sub-band domain when extracting the features from speech data. This leads to extract the enhanced cepstral features and thus improves the accuracy of speech/silence classification using the enhanced cepstral features. Therefore, it can be expected to get improved performance comparing with the existing CLSFN. Experimental results conducted on Aurora 2.0 DB showed that our proposed FSFN method improves the averaged word accuracy of 2% comparing with the conventional CLSFN method, and FSFN combined with CMVN (Cepstral Mean and Variance Normalization) also showed the best recognition performance comparing with others.

Study on Pesticide Runoff from Soil Surface-I, Runoff of Captafol by Natural Rainfall in Field (농약의 토양 표면유출에 관한 연구-I 포장에서 자연강우에 의한 Captafol의 유출특성)

  • As a first step of pesticide runoff studies, runoff losses of captafol were measured under natural rainfall conditions in apple orchard area. The maximum concentration of captafol was 180 ppb at 5 th sampling period when the rainfall occurred within 24 hours after captafol was applied, and the concentration of samples from other periods was below than 20 ppb. Total runoff loss of captafol was below 0.1%. About 10 fold of dilution factor was observed at the merging point with stream near outlet from orchard and about 50 fold was observed at the next merging point which is located further down. Therefore, captafol will not harm the aquatic organisms due to dilution factor$(10{\sim}50\;fold)$ and rapid hydrolytic degradation rate even when it was run off into a stream nearby.

Effective Road Area Extraction in Satellite Images Using Texture-Based BP Neural Network (텍스쳐 기반 BP 신경망을 이용한 위성영상의 도로영역 추출)

  • This paper proposes a road detection method using BP(Back-Propagation) neural network based on texture information of the each candidate road region segmented for satellite images. To segment the candidate road regions, the histogram-based binarization method proposed by N.Otsu is firstly performed and the neighboring regions surrounding road regions are then removed. And after extracting the principal color using the histogram of the segmented foreground, the candidate road regions are classified into the regions within ${\pm}25$ of the principal color. Finally, the road regions are segmented using BP neural network based on texture information of the candidate regions. The texture information in this paper is calculated using co-occurrence matrix and is used as an input data of the BP neural network. The proposed method is based on the fact that the road has the constant intensity and shape. The experiment demonstrated the validity of the proposed method and showed 90% detection accuracy for the various images.

Relationship of Lycoris (Amaryllidaceae) Based on RAPD Markers (RAPD markers에 의한 상사화속 식물의 유연관계)

  • Phylogenetic relationships were examined for 17 taxa of Lycoris by RAPD analysis. The length of the amplified DNA fragments ranged from 300 bp to 1,700 bp. 57 scorable RAPD markers were observed from PCR reactions with five random oligoprimers. The analysis by UPGMA sepatated the examined taxa of Lycoris into were clusters. First group was comprised of ten taxa of L. chinensis var. sinuolata, L. sanguinea var. koreana, L. uydoensis, L. flavescens, L. radiata var. pumila, L. radiata, L. squamigera, L. chejuensis, L. aurea and L. guangxiensis, second group of L. haywardii, L. sprengeri, L. rosea, L. straminea and L. houdyshii, third group of outgroup of Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis and Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum. From the viewpoint of cytological characters such as polyploidy and karyotype, the RAPD analysis was very useful to show the relationship among the intraspecific taxa of Lycoris.

Prediction of Transfer Lengths in Pretensioned Concrete Members Using Neuro-Fuzzy System (뉴로-퍼지 시스템을 이용한 프리텐션 콘크리트 부재의 전달길이 예측)

  • In pretensioned concrete members, a certain bond length from the end of the member is required to secure the effective prestress in the strands, which is defined as the transfer length. However, due to the complex bond mechanism between strands and concrete, most transfer length models based on the deterministic approach have uncertainties and do not provide accurate estimations. Therefore, in this study, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), a Neuro-Fuzzy System, is introduced to reduce the uncertainties and to estimate the transfer length more accurately in pretensioned concrete member. A total of 253 transfer length test results have been collected from literatures to train ANFIS, and the trained ANFIS algorithm estimated the transfer length very accurately. In addition, a design equation was proposed to calculate the transfer length based on parametric studies and dimensional analyses. Consequently, the proposed equation provided accurate results on the transfer length which are comparable to the ANFIS analysis results.

Effect of Air Flow Rate on the Performance of Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell using CFD (평판형 고체산화물 연료전지의 CFD 성능해석에서 공기유량변화의 영향)

  • Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) continue to be among the most promising alternative energy devices. This paper addresses i-V characteristics of SOFC with a focus on air flow rate along the planar anode electrodes. To address this, detailed Butler-Volmer kinetics are implemented in a general-purpose CFD code FLUENT. The numerical results were validated against experimental data from the literature showing excellent match with i-V polarization data ranging 1V-0.4V. Numerical calculations of fuel cell operation under different flow rare conditions were performed in three-dimensional geometries. Results are presented in terms of concentration distribution of hydrogen, oxygen, and water. The simulations and results indicate that advanced CFD with UDF(User-Defined Function) of Butler-Volmer kinetics can be used to identify the conditions leading to air flow rate and specific surface area and guide development of operating conditions and improve the fuel cell system performance.

Effect of Water Volume and Relaxation Time in the Design of Nano Shock Absorbing Damper Using Silica Particle (실리카 분말을 이용한 나노 충격완화 장치의 설계에서 작동 유체 영향과 복원 시간에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, new shock absorbing system was proposed using silica gel particles according to the nano-technology. For the design and real application of the proposed damper, an experimental investigations are carried out using colloidal damper, which is statically loaded. The porous matrix is composed from silica gel(labyrinth architecture), coated by organo-silicones substances, in order to achieve a hydrophobic surface. Water is considered as associated lyophobic liquid. Reversible colloidal damper static test rig and the measuring technique of the static hysteresis were described. Iufluence of the water volume and particle diameters upon the reversible colloidal damper hysteresis was investigated. Also, influence of the relaxation time on the hysteresis of the damper was investigated. As a result, the proposed new shock absorbing damper is proved as an effective one, which can be replaced for the conventional hydraulic damper.

Efficient Cognitive and Cooperative Communication Scheme for Multiuser OFDMA Systems using Relays (중계기를 사용하는 다중 사용자 OFDMA 시스템을 위한 효율적인 인지 협력 통신 기법)

  • In this paper, we investigate the cognitive and cooperative communication scheme to improve the spectral efficiency in multiuser OFDMA systems using wireless relays. First, we propose the frame structure in which the efficient frequency reuse scheme with the cognitive technique is performed to increase the system throughput. And in the case where the THP (Tomlinson-Harashima preceding) is used for the elimination of interference from the relay, we derive the effective signal to noise ratio of the link largely affected by the channel quantization error. From the system level simulation results, it is shown that the proposed cognitive and cooperative communication scheme increases the overall system performance including the feedback overhead.
