  • This study was to estimate the economic value of Gaecheon Arts Festival in Jinju, Korea. To measure the value of the festival, improved travel cost measurement that applied new weight concept from the Travel Cost Measurement(TCM) proposed by Peares(1972) was used. The total value was evaluated to approximately 2,270.057 billion KRW. The result showed that travel cost items affecting on economic value of the festival were transportation, food and beverage, shopping, accommodation, amusement and entrance fee in order. The effect of accommodation due to the visitors' surplus was small, due to day trip participation trend??. Because accommodation, shopping and entrance fee, therefore, directly affect the regional economy, it is necessary for festival planning party to develop the program for tourist accommodation and so forth. Finally, this study will contribute to the development of local festivals through the more objective, clear comparison and measurement of economic value between local festivals using improved travel cost estimation method.

  • Background: Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is associated with high morbidity and mortality, particularly among immunocompromised patients, such as lung transplant recipients. Voriconazole, the first-line therapy for IA, shows a non-linear pharmacokinetic profile and has a narrow therapeutic range. Careful and appropriate administration is necessary, primarily because it is used for critically ill patients; however, the clinical usefulness of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) has not been sufficiently verified. Therefore, in this study, we validated the safety and efficacy of voriconazole TDM in lung transplant recipients receiving only voriconazole for IA treatment. Methods: The electronic medical records of lung transplant recipients (${\geq}19$ years of age) administered only voriconazole for > 7 days for treatment of IA from June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Among the 54 patients, 27 each were allocated to TDM and non-TDM groups, respectively. There were no significant differences in patient characteristics between the two groups except for ICU-hospitalization status. Of the TDM group patients, 81.5% needed adjustment of voriconazole dosage because the levels were out of target range. Comparison of two groups showed that treatment response was higher throughout treatment and switching rates of second-line agents were significantly lower in the TDM group, but it was insufficient to confirm safety improvements through voriconazole TDM. Conclusions: Considering that the treatment response tended to be higher and the rates of switching to second-line antifungal agents were lower in the TDM group, voriconazole TDM may increase the therapeutic effect on IA in lung transplant patients.

  • For a marine bridge foundation construction, a large-circular-steel-pipe has been proposed for supporting vertical load and preventing water infiltration. However, a ship collision can adversely affect the structural stability. This paper presents a fundamental study on dynamic responses of the large-circular-steel-pipe by an impact load. In laboratory experiments, small-scaled steel pipe is installed in a soil tank. The soil height and water level are set to 23 cm and 25~70 cm, respectively. The upper part of the steel pipe is impacted using a hammer to simulate the ship collision. The dynamic responses are measured using accelerometers and strain gauges. Experimental results show that the strain decreases as the measured location is lowered. The higher frequency components appear in the impact load condition compared to the microtremor condition. However, the higher frequency components measured at the strain gauge located below the water level do not appear. For the accelerometer signal, the maximum frequency under the impact load is higher than that of the microtremor. The maximum frequency decreases as water level increases but it is larger than the maximum frequency of the microtremor. This study shows that strain gauge and accelerometer can be useful for evaluating the dynamic responses of large-circular-steel-pipes.

  • This study was conducted to examine the impact of various environmental factors on the feeding behavior of black-faced spoonbills Platalea minor known to use rice fields during the breeding season. We surveyed the rice fields three times a month from April to June 2017 and from April to June 2018. We counted the number of black-faced spoonbills and measured the environmental factors such as the water depth, paddy type by cultivation stage, and biomass of potential prey that are expected to affect black-faced spoonbills. We also filmed the feeding behavior of black-faced spoonbills to examine differences in feeding behavior by environmental factors. The survey showed that the number of black-faced spoonbills reached its peak from late April to late May which was the breeding period. Among a total of 308 black-faced spoonbills observed, 86.4% (n=266) were observed feeding on rice paddies, 90.6% (n=279) were adults, and none was observed on dry paddies. The biomass of rice paddy increased significantly since May when fish started hatching, and there was a significant difference in the amount of biomass between the rice paddies where black-faced spoonbills were observed and other rice paddies. The analysis of the feeding behavior of black-faced spoonbills showed that the feeding efficiency and feeding success rate of black-faced spoonbills increased significantly when the amount of biomass soared and that the number of steps of black-faced spoonbills per minute increased greatly after rice planting was completed. The number of bill sweeping was not related to the feeding efficiency, feeding success rate, and paddy type by cultivation stage.

  • This work aims to propose a vulnerability assessment methodology of ecosystem at present time, and an to suggest an adaptation strategy of ecosystem in the future for local government, in the fields of plant, animal and conservation area, which would occurred due to climate change. Vulnerability assessment in ecosystem includes first, tree growth and distribution part, mainly for conifers, secondly, insect part for pest and bee, and thirdly conservation area management part, especially at the national parks. To evaluate the degree of vulnerability of each substitute variables, such as exposure of climatic element, sensitivity, and adaptation ability, are respectively selected. Vulnerabilities of conifer growth and distribution, pest and bee, and national park management seem to be strongly influenced by the exposure of climatic element than other factors, such as sensitivity and adaptation ability. With time regional gaps of ecosystem vulnerability are expected to be greater in both conifers growth and distribution, and national park management, but reduced in pest and bee in 2100 in comparison with present time.

  • In order to use as basic data of adaptation, this study focused on a 'Water management vulnerability estimation' in Korea. Vulnerability is estimated dividing into flood mitigation and water resource management. Temporal resolution is 2000 year and the future 2020 year, 2050 year, 2100 year via A1B scenario. Time series data was normalized. Then weight that is gotten through delphi investigation was multiplied. Vulnerability is calculated through this process. In flood mitigation vulnerability, it was estimated to adaptation ability affect relatively biggest influence. In future, some area of Gangwon-do was analyzed that the flood mitigation vulnerability increases. In water resource management, it was estimated to climate exposure affect relatively biggest influence. At 2020 yr, there is a trend toward increased in the Chungcheongbuk-do and DaeJeon, Daegu, some area of Gyeongsangnamdo. Because this study evaluate relative vulnerability of whole country and analyzed spatial distribution, when local government establishes climate change adaptation details enforcement countermeasure, this study can give help to grasp whether should invest more in some field.

  • The City-to-City cooperation(C2C) in Korea has been made by economic needs based on industrial conditions. However, now it is necessary to cover environmental and social aspects as well as economic in order to respond to the realization of the international value, the domestic demands, and the changing comprehensive conditions. In particular, inter city cooperation is important because the efforts for solving environmental problems are impossible individually in each local government. In Korea, C2C have promoted in various ways by complex interests between cities. C2C build a creative environment by catalysis in the process of exchanges between different cities. And its purpose and the process and results appeared in environmental, social and economic sustainability of the green city. Therefore, this study analyze the C2C cases in Korea by pursuing value types. The purpose of this study is awaken to the importance of C2C and seek a direction for its successful realization and activation. The result of this study can be a guide for the success of C2C.

  • CCGIS (Climate Change Adaptation Toolkit based on GIS) was developed to use as a tool for the climate change assessment and any relevant tasks involving climate change adaptation policy over Korean peninsula. The main objective of CCGIS is to facilitate an efficient and relevant information for the estimation of climate change vulnerability index by providing key information in the climate change adaptation process. In particular, the atmospheric modeling system implemented in CCGIS, which is composed of climate and meteorological numerical model and the atmospheric environmental models, were used as a tool to generate the climate and environmental IPCC SRES (A2, B1, A1B, A1T, A1FI, and A1 scenarios) climate data for the year of 2000, 2020, 2050, and 2100. This article introduces the components of CCGIS and describes its application to the Korean peninsula. Some examples of the CCGIS and its use for both climate change adaptation and estimation of vulnerability index applied to Korean provinces are presented and discussed here.

  • In order to identify the current state of the $CO_2$ concentrations at the Gosan site in Jeju, the data from the Gosan station was compared with the ones from domestic and foreign sites registered in the World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases(WDCGG). As a result, the $CO_2$ concentrations in the Asian region including Gosan site were higher than in the other continents, which can be explained that the $CO_2$ emissions in the Asian region have been rapidly increasing due to the recent economic growth. In comparison with ther Asian-Pacific sites (i.e., Ryori, Waliguan, and Mauna Loa), Gosan site showed the highest $CO_2$ concentrations because this site can be easily affected by China emissions. With the trajectory analysis and the ratios of air pollutants, we found that the high concentrations of Gosan site in January were mainly caused by the long-range transport from China, while in August the high concentration in the night time by the stagnation and the active plant respiration. Also, in May and November it occurred as the polluted air from China was transported with migratory cyclone.

  • KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) projected that annual mean temperatures of South Korea will rise $3.8^{\circ}C$ and the annual total precipitation will increase by 17 percent by 2100. Rainfall is concentrated during the summer in South Korea. Thus the risk of landslide by heavy rain is expected to increase. After the landslide of Mt. Umyeon occurred in July 2011, disaster of forest sector is highlighted. Therefore vulnerability assessment of landslide is urgent. However, vulnerability assessment based on local governments was not done yet. In this study, we assess vulnerability of landslide by heavy rain for local governments. We used several scenarios to consider uncertainty of climate change. Through this study, local governments can use the results to establish adaptation plans. Also, the results could be used to decrease vulnerability of landslide.
