Thermal Properties of blends of Poly and a Thermotropic Liquid Crystalline Polymer (Poly과 열방성액정 고분자 블렌드의 열적 성질에관한연구)

  • 스크류 압출기로 제조한 poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)과 p-hydroxy benzoic acid/poly(ethylene tere-phthalate) (HBA/PET)의 공중합체인 열방성 액정 고분자의 블렌드 를 전조성에 대하여시차 주사 열분석기 (DSC)와 주사전자현미경(SEM)을 이용하여 연구하 였다. 측정된 유리전이 온도와 유리전이 온도에서의 열용량 증가분으로부터 PEEK가 액정고 분자에 녹아들어가는 양보다 액정 고분자가 PEEK에 녹아들어가는 양이 더 많음을 알수 있 었다. 고분자-고분자상호작용계수($\chi$12)값은 35$0^{\circ}C$에서 0.069$\pm$0.004이었고, 짝상에서 액정고 분자의 degree of disorder는 PEEK의 질량분율이 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 블렌드에서 PEEK의 결정화에 액정 고분자는 거의 영향을 주지않았고 액정 고분자의 결정화 역시 PE 따에 영향을 받지 않았다. 모폴로지연구에서는 액정 고분자를 PEEK에 10%첨가시에 PEEK 의 메트릭스상에서 액정 고분자가 신장된 타원형을 형성하였으며 액정 고분자를 20% 첨가 시에는 액정 고분자가 섬유상구조를 가지고 있었다.

  • 폴리프로필렌 이산화티타늄 첨가 폴리프로필렌을 심초형 복합 방사하여 첨가제를 섬유의 중심부분, 또 표면부분에 차별분포시켰다. TiO2의 함량이 증가함에 따라 점도(η)와 저장탄성계수(G')는 증가하였다. 전자현미경으로 파단면의 모폴로지를 관찰한 결과 TiO2와 함량이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. TiO2의 함량 증가에 따라 강력, 절단신도, 그리고 탄성계수는 감소하였다. 복합방사한 섬유의 TiO2 함량이 2% 미만일 때는 homo PP 보다 강력이 좋아졌다. 복합 섬유의 탄성계수는 중심부에 homo PP가 분포한 경우가 더 컸 고 강력과절단 신도는 중심부에 filled PP가 분포한 경우가 더 컸다.

  • 본 연구에서 Doi-Edwards 점탄성 조성방정식의 Hadamard 안정성 분석을 행하였 다. Hadamard 안정성은 방정식의 탄성 성질과 연관되는 특성으로 파장이 짧고 진동수가 큰 파동에 의한 외란 하에서 식의 안정성을 의미한다. 먼저 안정성을 위한 일반 3차원 조건을 수립하고 단순한 1차원과 2차원 외란하에서 필요조건을 구하였다. Doi-Edwards 이론을 따 르는 물질의 단순전단유동을 고려함에 의하여 순간 전단변형률이 1.8786을 넘어설 때 파장 이 짧고 진동수가 큰 외란에 의하여 불안정성이 나타남이 증명되었다. 이 안정성의 임계치 는 실제 고분자공정 뿐 아니라 실험실에서도 쉽게 도달할수 있는 값으로 이와 같은 불안정 유동은 mi-crophase separation과 같은 물리적 현상과는 관련이 있다는 증거가 없으므로 조 성방정식 자체가 지니는 수학적 모순점에 기인한 것이라 할수 있다.

  • The morphology of fungal growth, which is an important variable for separability and rheological property of fermented medium, was quantified with fractal geometry. Fractal dimensions were determined for submerged growth of two industrially important fungi, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae. The tendency of pellet formation was related to the fractal dimension of fungi.

  • Linear viscoelastic properties of 11 types of EPDM and 1 type of EPM rubbers have been measured at $210^{\circ}C$, using a RDS(Rheometrics dynamic spectrometer). The data base, i.e., complex viscosity, storage modulus, loss modulus, loss tangent and relaxation spectrum of the sample should be useful for rubber blending and compounding.

  • In this work, the stabilization of chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber emulsion with surfactants, i.e., nonionic (Span 60) or anionic (Sodium laurylsulfate, SLS) surfactants, was investigated. The phase inversion emulsification by interfacial chemical characteristics was used to emulsify the CSM rubber. As a result, the emulsion phase separation was observed in the case of any single surfactant. However, there was no phase separation in the mixture of Span 60 and SLS in the context of emulsion droplet size tests and rheological behaviors. The droplet size decreases by increasing the surfactant mixture, resulting in increasing the viscosity. The viscosity and shear stress determined from shear rate show a shear thinning and yield behaviors. It was then found that the emulsion stabilization can be improved using the phase inversion emulsification method and surfactant mixture.

  • In this study, synthesis of a hydrogel consisted of a coordination bond network between small organic molecules and transition metals had been carried out. By adding a tackifying material to the gel, the potential of the gel to be used as an adhesive material had been also confirmed. Synthesis of the adhesive had been done with simple mixing of 3 components: tannic acid, transition metal, and polymer. The tannic acid molecule possesses multiple hydroxyl groups that can form coordination bonds with the transition metals and hydrogen bonds with the hydrophilic polymers. Due to the morphology of the metal-organic complex and polymer dispersed in water, the fabricated material exhibited high adhesiveness and cohesiveness. Optimizing the rheological property had been conducted for use in adhesive by the synthesis with varying the transition metal (Fe3+, Ti4+), polymer, and treatment conditions. Rheological measurement results demonstrate the promising potential of the material as a bio-compatible and versatile pressure-sensitive adhesive with both high adhesiveness and cohesiveness.

Morphology and Rheological Property of PLA/PCL Blend Compatibilized by Electron Beam Irradiation (전자선 조사에 의해 상용화된 PLA/PCL 블렌드의 모폴로지 및 유변학적 성질)

  • The aim of this study was to increase compatibility of immiscible PLA/PCL blend by using electron beam irradiation in the presence of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). The blends of PLA/PCL containing GMA were irradiated at doses of 10, 50 and 100 kGy and then the irradiated samples were characterized by observing morphology and rheological properties. Blends irradiated with 50 and 100 kGy showed greatly improved interfacial adhesion between two phases in the morphology. Complex viscosity of PLA/PCL(9/1) blend irradiated at dose of 100 kGy was about 100 times higher than that of pure PLA. We found that the compatibility of immiscible PLA/PCL could be improved by electron beam irradiation in the presence of GMA from the investigation of morphology and rheology.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a method for measuring the slumping resistance of flowable resin composites and to evaluate the efficacy using rheological methodology. Five commercial flowable composites (Aelitefil flow:AF, Filtek flow:FF, DenFil flow:DF, Tetric flow:TF and Revolution:RV) were used. Same volume of composites in a syringe was extruded on a glass slide using a custom-made loading device. The resin composites were allowed to slump for 10 seconds at $25^{\circ}C$ and light cured. The aspect ratio (height/diameter) of cone or dome shaped specimen was measured for estimating the slumping tendency of composites. The complex viscosity of each composite was measured by a dynamic oscillatory shear test as a function of angular frequency using a rheometer. To compare the slumping tendency of composites, one way-ANOVA and Turkey's post hoc test was performed for the aspect ratio at 95% confidence level. The Effect of the Amount of Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer on the Properties of Ultra-High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete (폴리칼본산계 고성능감수제 사용량이 초고성능 섬유보강 콘크리트의 성질에 미치는 영향)

  • As the amount of polycarboxylate superplasticizer varied from 1.2% to 3.0% of the mass of binder, the change in the flowability & rheological properties, and strength of UHPFRC was investigated with experiments. The test results presented that the increase in the amount of superplasticizer was effective in improving the flowability up to 1.8%, but addition more than 1.8% was hardly beneficial for enhancing the flowability and rhelogical properties. Compressive strengths with different amounts of superplasticizer showed that the strength with 1.8% was slightly higher than that of 1.2%, but the amount more than 1.8% caused strength reduction, which was higher as the amount increased. The results in flexural strength according to the amount of superplasticizer showed a similar trend with the results in compressive strength. When the effect of compressive strength and fiber distribution characteristics on the flexural strength was analysed separately, it was found that high amount of superplasticizer caused an effect of fiber distribution in addition to the effect of compressive strength on flexural strength. This effect seems to be closely related to the results of flowability or rheological properties.
