Analysis of the Lipid Components in Chestnut (Castanea crenata) -Part I. Composition of lipid fraction of inner and outer part of chestnut- (밤 지질(脂質) 성분(成分)의 분석(分析) -제1보. 내과육(內果肉) 및 외과육(外果肉)의 지질조성(脂質組成)-)

  • Free and bound lipids of both inner and outer part in the edible portion of 3 varieties of chestnuts(Castanea crenata) were extracted and fractionated into neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid, by silicic acid column chromatography. Fatty acid composition of each fraction was examined with gas chromatography. Lipid contents in chestnut on dry weight basis were 1.84% in inner part(1.26%-free lipid and 0. 58% bound lipid) and 1.95% in outer part (1.63%-free lipid and 0.32%-bound lipid). Free lipid content was $2{\sim}5$ times higher than bound lipid content and was more abundant in the outer part. Neutral lipid content of the free lipid in the inner part was 39.5%, approximately 10 times as much as that of the bound lipid, but in the outer part, the former was 56.6%. Glycolipid content was 22. 0% in the free lipid and 17.0% in the bound lipid. Phospholipid content was 6.9% in the free lipid and 10.5% in the bound lipid. The predominant fatty acids were linoleic acid, palmitic acid and linolenic acid in the free lipid, and palmitic acid, linoleic arid and linolenic acid in the bound lipid, Therefore, saturated fatty acid content in the bound lipid was 2 times higher than in the free lipid.

A study on the effect of the water purification by Lythrum anceps, Pistia straiotes, Oenanthe javanica, and Phragmites japonica (부처꽃, 물상추, 미나리, 달뿌리풀의 수질정화효과에 관한 연구)

  • The COD removal capacity of aquatic plants, when foamed glasses were not used, showed 56% for Pistia straiotes, 48% for Phragmites japonica and 41% for Oenanthe javanica, but no significant COD removal was observed for Lythrum anceps. When the foamed glasses were used as support materials, the COD removal efficiency increased for all aquatic plants used in this study showing 69% fur Pistia straiotes, 68% for Pharagmites japonica 62% for Oenanthe javanica, respectively. The T-N removal efficiency of aquatic plants when foamed glasses were used as support materials showed 91% for Lythrum anceps and 93% for Phragmites japonica. Similar removal efficiency was observed as 94% for all aquatic plants planted as a group used in this study. The T-P removal efficiency of aquatic plants when foamed glasses were not used showed 35% for Lythrum anceps, 8% for Phragmites japonica, however, that, when foamed glasses were used, ranged 78% for Lythrum anceps, 43% for Phragmites japonica, showing that the foamed glasses increase the T-P removal efficiency of aquatic plants used in this study.

A Numerical Study of Fire Dynamics of The Enclosed Compartment with Window Glass Breaking (밀폐된 구획의 창유리 파단시 화재 특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • The use of computer supported fire safety engineering calculations has grown significantly in recent years and will be increased rapidly. In this study, in order to examine for fire dynamics of the enclosed compartment with window glass(3mm, 4mm thickness) when the window glass breaks, we conducted numerical computer simulations about foam sofa fire with the zone type computer mode, FASTLite package(version 1.1.2) and the Berkeley algorithm for breaking window glass in a compartment fire, BREAK1 program (version 1.0). The analysis of the results in this paper shows that there are differences of fire dynamics between open-or enclosed-state compartment fire and the enclosed compartment fire with window glass breaking. It is also shown in this study that backdraft phenomenum occurs due to accumulated unburned combustible fuel when the glass of 4mm thickness breaks, and that temperature differences between the inner-and outer-surfaces of 3mm and 4mm thick glasses are appreciable. This study will help fire fighter to establish fire suppression or occupant's refuge strategies and fire safety engineer to enhance simulation techniques about the five dynamics of compartment fire.

L-System Based Procedural Synthesis Method to Efficiently Generate Dense, Radial, and Concentric Cracks of Glass (유리의 미세, 방사상, 동심원 균열을 효율적으로 생성하기 위한 L-System 기반의 절차적 합성 방법)

  • We propose a complex crack generation technique which is represented when impact is applied to glass. The crack patterns expressed when external forces are applied to the glass are classified into dense, radial, and concentric cracks, and we use procedural methods to efficiently represent crack patterns. Based on the input external force, we synthesize the crack example and apply the L-system based on this example to model the propagation shape of the crack in real time. Although physics based crack generation can analyze and model accurate cracks, it has a disadvantage of slow computation because of its high computational cost, and procedural methods have a relatively fast rate of continuity, but are not sufficient to capture accurate crack characteristics. We modeled cracks in glass using L-system to achieve both of these advantages. As a result, it realistically represented the microscopic crack patterns of glass in real time.

Preparation and Dissolution Properties of the Trace Elements doped ${K_2}O$-CaO-${P_2}{O_5}$ Glasses (미량원소함유 ${K_2}O$-CaO-${P_2}{O_5}$유리의 제조 및 용출 특성)

  • At the previous papers, we showed that ${K_2}O$-CaO-${P_2}{O_5}$ glasses had a solubility in air so that they could be used for glass fertilizer. In this work, we fabricated the Eco-glass fertilizer containing trace elements of B, Mg, Zn, Fe, Cu, Co, Mo, the needed micronutrients for plants to grow, by a melt-quenching process. The dissolution properties in these glasses were investigated with a pH meter and an ICP analyzer. The trace elements doped glasses showed similar behavior in dissolutions and stability properties with the mother glass without containing trace elements. In addition, the dissolution amount of each trace elements depends on the mother glass composition and the quantity of each trace elements, which determine the dissolving velocity of chemical elements.

  • 발꿈치는 신체의 다른부위에 비하여 엄청난 하중을 지탱하고 있으며, 주행시에는 막대한 전단력을 받으므로 그 재건에 있어서 어려운 점이 있다. 그 동안 발꿈치의 연부조직 결손을 재건하기 위한 많은 방법들이 개발되어 왔지만, 비교적 큰 발꿈치의 연부조직 결손을 재건하는 것은 아직도 쉬운 일이 아니다. 이처럼 큰 결손의 재건에는 주로 유리 피판술을 이용한 재건술을 사용하는데, 그 중에서도 광배근, 복직근, 대퇴박근 등의 근육을 이용하는 방법이 최근에 많이 이용되고 있다. 이와 같은 유리 근 피판에 피부이식을 이용하는 발꿈치 재건술은 표재성 감각기능을 재건하지 못하는 것이 단점으로 지적되고 있으나, 보행 또는 주행시 발꿈치에 가해지는 압력과 전단력을 효과적으로 견디어 낼 뿐아니라, 외관상으로도 정상에 가까운 발꿈치를 재건할 수가 있어서 좋은 방법으로 인정되고 있다. 특히, 대퇴박근은 피판을 비교적 쉽게 채취할 수 있고, 공여부에 기능적인 장애나 심한 변형을 남기지 않아서 좋은 방법이라 생각된다. 다만 크기가 비교적 작아서, 발등이나 족관절 상부에까지 이르는 광범위한 연부조직 결손에서는 사용할 수 없는 점이 아쉽다. 저자는 비교적 가늘고 긴, 대퇴박근의 형태적 특징을 최대한 이용하여, 결손부의 다양한 형태 및 크기에 따라 대퇴박근을 말발굽형, 나선형, S-자형 등으로 적절히 형상화하여 발꿈치 결손을 효과적으로 재건하는 방법을 고안하였다. 또한, 공여부에 긴 선상 반흔이 남는 것을 피하기 위하여 두 개의 작은 절개를 통해서 대퇴박근을 채취하였다. 이 방법을 이용하여 영남대학교 의과대학 성형외과학 교실에서는 1993년 이후부터 7명의 비교적 큰 발꿈치의 연부조직 결손 환자를 대상으로 유리 대퇴박근 피판술을 이용한 재건술로 성공적인 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

A Study on Minimum Speed of Vehicle in Collision between Pedestrian Head and Windshield (보행자의 두부(頭部)가 승용차의 전면유리에 닿는 최저속도에 관한 연구)

  • This paper try to identify the minimum speed of vehicles in collision between pedestrian head and windshield at vehicle-pedestrian accidents. The MADYMO program was used with NF Sonata vehicle and pedestrian in height of 160cm, 170cm, and 180cm. From the simulation results, it was found that the minimum speed of vehicle was different for each pedestrian height : 49km/h for 160cm, 41km/h for 170cm, and 29km/h for 180cm. The results could be used in speed estimating process when there is a collision trace between pedestrian head and windshield at vehicle- pedestrian accident investigation.

  • Field emission displays(FED) are currently being study as a potential flat technology. The purpose of this project shows the research result of vacuum packaging technology for the development of FED. For FED vacuum packaging, the bonding of glass/glass, the exhaust of vacuum and getter technology have been studied for vacuum packaging technology The simulation and vacuum sealing, and glass/glass bonding are also extensively studied. The glass/glass bonding is formed by using the frit glass and the Inside pressure of complete panel showed of $2{\times}10^{-5}$[Torr]. As a getter result, the increase of pressure has been showed the decrease of outgassing effect by using thin film getter.

  • While using the hydrogen mixture gas torch, the glass edge sealing and the shape of the edge sealing parts is affected by many parameters such as flow rate of gas, traveling speed of torch, distance between glass and torch. As the glass edge sealing shape have effects on the insulation and airtightness and strength of the glass panel; the sealing shapes are predicted according to the process parameters. The paper highlight the nonlinear regression equations of the cross-sectional shape of the sealing shape according to the parameters, that is experimentally predicted later compared and verified the equation with the experimental result.

Reduction of Blocking Effect using a Rational Open Uniform B-Spline Curve (유리 개방형 균일 B 스플라인 곡선을 이용한 블록 효과 감소)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel blocking effect reduction method based on a rational B-spline. The blocking effect results from independent coding of each image block and becomes highly visible especially coded at very low bit rates. The proposed approach adopts a rational open uniform B-spline curve that used to produce a smooth curve through a set of control points. The pixels on the block boundary are treated as control points, and the weight values, which decide the shape of curve, are determined differentially by considering the distance the position of the pixels and that of the block boundary. The simulation results show that the proposed method has excellent performance for all pattern of the blocking effect with less computational complexity.
