  • The deterministic modeling techniques like Zone model and Field model are mainly used for thermal distribution and smoke flow at fire case in multi use facilities. While Zone model analyse fire simulation by dividing spaces by 2 section, the Field model dividing many cells. However, the difficultly follows to prove efficiency between the two models when it applys. Therefore new modeling development is required which in closes to real situation by verify number algorithm and related data for fire modeling. The paper analyses the efficiency of two different fire modeling at interior spaces of multiplex cinema theater. It is found that the zone model for average distribution and the field model for detail space phenomenon are relevant to apply. Also, Filed model is useful to the result that fire analysis and position of detector and review for smoke control system.

  • The steady rotating flows in eccentric annulus has been studied by a numerical method based on the spectral collocation method. The inner cylinder has a constant angular velocity while the outer on e is stationary. Flow between eccentric cylinders is of considerable technical importance as it occurs in journal bearings. In the present work, the governing equations for laminar flow are expressed as Navier-Stokes equations, including the non-linear convection terms. The solutions were utilized i, estimate the effects of the nonlinear terms on the load acting on the rotating cylinder. Based on the half and the full Sommerfeld methods, the load on the rotating cylinder is evaluated with eccentricity, by integrating the pressure and skin friction around the cylinder. The attitude angle and Sommerfeld reciprocal are calculated from the load. Also, the torque on the rotating inner cylinder was calculated. considering the skin friction. The attitude angle and Sommerfeld reciprocal are decreased with eccentricity. Viscous damping coefficient due to the skin friction becomes larger with decreasing the annular space. It is found the non-linear effects of the convection terms on the flow and the load are important. especially on the attitude angle, for relatively wide annular configurations however, the effects on those are minor for very narrow annular ones.

  • A numerical method for accurate simulations of rotor aerodynamics is proposed. The numerical diffusion in the typically coarse grids away from the rotor blades is improved by implying a fourth-order of interpolation of local characteristic variables of the flow in the reconstruction stage of MUSCL approach in the framework of a finite volume formulation. In addition, different slope limiters are applied to the different characteristic fields, such as compressive limiters to linear characteristic fields to reduce the numerical dissipation whereas, diffusive limiters to nonlinear characteristic fields to increase numerical stability. Various exemplary problems related to the rotor aerodynamics applications are tested and the numerical results show a significant improvement in wake capturing capability. However, rotor aeroacoustic calculations show no meaningful difference over traditional MUSCL approach.

  • It is important to uniformly supply the fuel gas into the reaction activity area in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Recent studies have shown that the cell performance can be significantly improved by employing metal foam gas distributor as compared with the conventional bipolar plate types. The metal foam gas distributor has been reported to be more efficient to fuel transport. In this study, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations have been performed to examine the effects of metal foam flow field design on the fuel supply to the reaction site. Darcy's law is used for the flow in the porous media. By solving additional advection equation for fluid particle trajectory, the gas transport has been visualized and examined for various geometrical configuration of metal foam gas distributor.

  • This paper presents a numerical analysis of flow inside a water nozzle for fire fighting and observes the effect of the variation in primary components on internal flow. In order to observe the performance of water nozzles, they have been systematically designed and modelled, applying boundary conditions obtained from field experiments (inlet pressure at pump : 4 bar, and pressure outlet : atmospheric pressure). In addition, the governing equations were calculated to obtain velocity, pressure inside the nozzle. Two main parameters (the presence and length of sub-pipes) were considered with the aim to observe the detail internal flow characteristics. It is found that the base model is not significant on flow characteristics, but a negative effect (i. e. the reverse flow) at the entrance region of sub-pipe. On the other hand, the reverse flow was vanished when making the length of sub-pipe double.

  • A long vertical duct is an essential installation for extracting smoke to the ground level when a fire occurs in an underground space. Due to the limitations of its basic assumptions, the existing two-layer zone model is unsuitable to model smoke dispersion through a long vertical duct. Therefore, an assessment was made to investigate the applicability of the field model, which is based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A similar configuration to the published experimental work was modeled to test the validity. It is clear that under a consistent decision criterion based on the mass fraction, the field model (CFD) is able to predict that the diffusion front progresses up the shaft with exactly the same rate as that in the empirical correlation equation. This result is for better than the mathematically obtained equations in previously published research. Therefore, it can be said that the field model is an excellent option to predict the smoke dispersion through the long vertical shaft.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive slot assignment algorithm called In-VDSA in order to guarantee the QoS(Quality of Service) of VBR(Variable Bit Rate) traffics in wireless ATM and maximize efficiency in use of wireless channels. In the proposed algorithm, the status of terminal buffers is encoded in signed number on the GFC(Generic Flow Control) field of an ATM cell header and piggybacked. And also, the number of slots to be assigned to the next frame is adjusted effectively, which is different to methods in the conventional slot assignment algorithms. As a result, we can guarantee QoS such as CLR(Cell Loss Rate) and cell delay and achieve the higher utilization of channels. The validity of the proposed algorithm has been justified in performance by analysis through simulation results using the BONeS tool and comparison with conventional methods.
