Development of a Fuzzy-Genetic Algorithm-based Incident Detection Model with Self-adaptation Capability (Fuzzy-Genetic Algorithm기반의 자가적응형 돌발상황 검지모형 개발 연구)

  • This study utilizes the fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm to improve the existing incident detection models by addressing the problems associated with "crisp" thresholds and model transferability (applicability). The model's major components were designed to be a set of the fuzzy inference engines, and for the self-adaptation capability the genetic algorithm was introduced in optimization(or training) of the fuzzy membership functions. This approach is often called "the hybrid of fuzzy-genetic algorithm" The model performance was tested and found to be compatible with that of the existing well-recognized models in terms of performance measures such as detection rate, false alarm rate, and detection time. This study was not an effort for simple improvement of the model performance, but an experimental attempt to incorporate new characteristics essential for the incident detection model to be universally applicable for various roadway and traffic conditions. The study results prove that the initial objective of the study was satisfied, and suggest a direction that the future research work in this area must follow.

  • This paper is intended to develop an algorithm for automatic detection of traffic accidents using image sequences. This algorithm is designed for detecting stopped vehicles traffic accidents, break down, illegal stop in the road shoulder - on the range of camera view. Virtual traps are set on accident-prone spots. We analyze the changes in gray levels of pixels on the virtual traps which represent the motion of vehicles on the corresponding spots. We verify the proposed algorithm by simulating some situations and checking if it detect them correctly.

  • 교통사고의 발생은 교통 혼잡의 주요 원인으로 작용되어 교통사고에 의한 직 간접적 손해비용까지 지출되고 있다. 따라서 교통사고를 사전에 예방하거나 사고가 발생한 후 신속하게 처리할 수 있는 실시간 교통사고 대처 시스템이 요구되고 있다. 즉, 교통사고 자동검지 시스템의 필요성은 가 피해자의 구분에 활용하는 것 이외에 신속한 인명구조와 사고처리 등의 교차로 유고관리가 가능하며, 교통사고로 발생할 수 있는 교통 혼잡을 최소화 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 충돌 및 추돌 사고를 검지하는 시스템의 성능을 개선하기 위한 것으로 영상 또는 소리라는 매체에 기반을 둔 시스템에서 자동 검지의 한계성을 도출하고 개선하고자 하였다. 테스트 베드를 기반으로 자동검지 실패의 원인을 분석하고 그 원인에 따른 오인식의 문제점을 개선하여 운전자 단독사고로 인하여 차량 추적이 불가능한 경우, 소리 없이 발생한 사고, 야간에 발생한 사고 등의 문제점들을 극복함과 동시에 성능을 개선하는데 그 목적이 있다.

  • 지능형교통시스템(Intelligent Transportation System: ITS)의 기술발전에 따라 고속도로 상에도 각종 검지 센서가 설치되고 교통정보가 다양한 형태로 제공되고 있으며, 전자요금징수시스템(Electronic Toll Collection System: ETCS) 또한 시범운영단계를 마치고 모든 고속도로를 대상으로 확대적용을 준비 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 ITS 관련시스템 중 고속도로를 대상으로 적용되는 전자요금징수시스템과 유고관리 시스템을 대상으로 수행되었던 시뮬레이션 사례를 소개하고, ITS 분야에서의 시뮬레이션 적용 필요성에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 전자요금징수시스템을 대상으로 한 시뮬레이션의 경우 현재 시범운영중인 영업소를 대상으로 향후 다양한 요금지불수단 도입에 따른 효과적인 영업소 운영방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 개발되었으며, 운전자들의 영업소 차로선택모형 등에 대한 사전연구를 통하여 모델링에 반영하였다. 또한, 고속도로 유고관리시스템의 경우 사고 직후 사고영향에 대한 실시간 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 지체지속시간 및 지체영향구간을 예측하여, 향후 교통정보제공에 활용하는 것을 목적으로 개발되었다. 개발된 시뮬레이션 모델을 통하여 각종운영방안에 대한 평가를 수행하였으며, 실제 유고상황에서의 검지자료와의 비교를 통하여 성능평가를 수행하였다.

  • The advanced traffic management system of intelligent transport systems automates the related traffic tasks such as vehicle speed, traffic volume and traffic incidents through the improved infrastructures like high definition cameras, high-performance radar sensors. For the safety of road users, especially, the automated incident detection and secondary accident prevention system is required. Normally, CCTV based image object detection and radar based object detection is used in this system. In this paper, we proposed the algorithm for real time highway incident detection system using multi surveillance cameras to mosaic video and track accurately the moving object that taken from different angles by background modeling. We confirmed through experiments that the video detection can supplement the short-range shaded area and the long-range detection limit of radar. In addition, the video detection has better classification features in daytime detection excluding the bad weather condition.

  • Image Processing Technique has been used as an efficient method to collect traffic information on the road such as vehicle counts, speed, queues, congestion and incidents. Most of the current methods which have been used to detect vehicles by the image processing are based on point processing, dealing with the local gray level of each pixel in the small window. However, these methods have some drawbacks. Firstly, detection is restricted by image quality. Secondly, they can not deal with occlusion and perspective projection problems, In this research, a new method which possibly deals with occlusion and perspective problems will be proposed. It extracts spatial information such as the position, the relationship of vehicles in 3-dimensional space, as well as vehicle detection in the image. The main algorithm used in this research is based on an extension of the Hough Transform. The Hough Transform which is proposed to estimates parameters of vertices and directed edges analytically on the Hough Space, is a valuable method for the 3-dimensional analysis of static scenes, motion detection and the estimation of viewing parameters.

  • As a part of NERI:;, Truck Shipment Safety Information is divided into Optimal Route Guidance system and Emergency Response system. This study which is for developing of Truck Shipment Incident Emergency Response System intends to prevent or early response damage caused by incidents through realtime monitoring about the position and the state of Hazard material transport truck. For this, we divide it into three scenarios; realtime monitoring, management of incidents, information provision to related organizations and present functional requirements and architecture coming with each scenario. As a result of the first step among total three steps, it would able to not only realtime management of trucks but also guide for auto-enforcement or management about illegal act like dumping scrapped material. It is now under examination about position of detection and technology of communication to application. From now on, it is expect to test in the range of Metropolitan after selecting appropriate technology.

Development of an Incident Detection Algorithm by Using Traffic Flow Pattern (이력패턴데이터를 이용한 돌발상황 감지알고리즘 개발)

  • Research of this paper focused on developing and demonstrating of algorithm with the figures of difference between historical traffic pattern data and real-time traffic data to decide on what the incident is. The aim of this dissertation is to develop incident detection algorithm which can be understood and modified easier to operate. To establish traffic pattern of this algorithm, weighted moving average method was applied. The basis of this method was traffic volume and speed of the same day and time at the same location based on 30-second raw data. The model was completed by a serious of steps of process-screening process of error data, decision of the traffic condition, comparison with pattern data, decision of incident circumstances, continuity test. A variety of parameter value was applied to select reasonable parameter. Results of application of the algorithm came out with figures of average detection rate 94.7 percent, 0.8 percent rate of misinformation and the average detection time 1.6 minutes. With these following results, the detection rate turned out to be superior compared with result of existing model. Applying the concept of traffic patterns was useful to gain excellent results of this study. Also, this study is significant in terms of making algorithm which theorized the decision process of actual operators.
