Georeferencing of Indoor Omni-Directional Images Acquired by a Rotating Line Camera (회전식 라인 카메라로 획득한 실내 전방위 영상의 지오레퍼런싱)

  • To utilize omni-directional images acquired by a rotating line camera for indoor spatial information services, we should register precisely the images with respect to an indoor coordinate system. In this study, we thus develop a georeferencing method to estimate the exterior orientation parameters of an omni-directional image - the position and attitude of the camera at the acquisition time. First, we derive the collinearity equations for the omni-directional image by geometrically modeling the rotating line camera. We then estimate the exterior orientation parameters using the collinearity equations with indoor control points. The experimental results from the application to real data indicate that the exterior orientation parameters is estimated with the precision of 1.4 mm and $0.05^{\circ}$ for the position and attitude, respectively. The residuals are within 3 and 10 pixels in horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. Particularly, the residuals in the vertical direction retain systematic errors mainly due to the lens distortion, which should be eliminated through a camera calibration process. Using omni-directional images georeferenced precisely with the proposed method, we can generate high resolution indoor 3D models and sophisticated augmented reality services based on the models.

  • Recently, citizen participation and user - oriented design are becoming increasingly important in the urban space design process. The Children's Park has also begun to discuss the need to reflect children's opinions and needs as well as existing ways and means of participation to reflect these opinions and ideas. In this study, a design education program for children was constructed and user opinions accessed via this design education were reflected in design and applied to the Children's Park. The training program consists of five weeks of educational programs, textbooks and teaching methods related to existing research, design education for children and participatory design programs. This program was used as a pilot of Eogong-6ho Children 's Park(No. 6 Children's Park), located in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, and reinterpreted the results of the workshop for 5th grade students at Sunil Elementary School. This design education program is distinguished from other workshop programs on how to organize and operate participating professors and textbooks, and has a program base that can reproduce the entire process. In addition, it is necessary to verify the effects of user participation through research, such as monitoring the use of children's parks after completion, as well as the application of more diverse design methodologies to children's parks and the way they reflect children's opinions.

Moving Object Detection and Tracking in Multi-view Compressed Domain (비디오 압축 도메인에서 다시점 카메라 기반 이동체 검출 및 추적)

  • In this paper, we propose a moving object detection and tracking method for multi-view camera environment. Based on the similarity and characteristics of motion vectors and coding block modes extracted from compressed bitstreams, validation of moving blocks, labeling of the validated blocks, and merging of neighboring blobs are performed. To continuously track objects for temporary stop, crossing, and overlapping events, a window based object updating algorithm is proposed for single- and multi-view environments. Object detection and tracking could be performed with an acceptable level of performance without decoding of video bitstreams for normal, temporary stop, crossing, and overlapping cases. The rates of detection and tracking are over 89% and 84% in multi-view environment, respectively. The rates for multi-view environment are improved by 6% and 7% compared to those of single-view environment.

Fast Face Detection in Video Using The HCr and Adaptive Thresholding Method (HCr과 적응적 임계화에 의한 고속 얼굴 검출)

  • Recently, various techniques for face detection are studied, but most of them still have problems on processing in real-time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose novel techniques for real-time detection of human faces in sequential images using motion and chroma information. First, background model is used to find a moving area. In this procmoving area. edure, intensity values for reference images are averaged, then skin-color are detected in We use HCr color-space model and adaptive threshold method for detection. Second, binary image labeling is applied to acquire candidate regions for faces. Candidates for mouth and eyes on a face are obtained using differences between green(G) and blue(B), intensity(I) and chroma-red(Cr) value. We also considered distances between eye points and mouth on a face. Experimental results show effectiveness of real-time detection for human faces in sequential images.

  • The terrestrial-DMB (T-DMB) provides one-way broadcasting service in intial phase and two-way interactive data services through a return channel of mobile communications network are commercialized recently. The possible evolution of the T-DMB will be fully convergence between the T-DMB and other communication services such as telematics, RFID and so on. From this evolution point of view, a framework should be defined for supporting telematics and RFID applications on T-BMB platform. In this paper, we propose an integrated service model that could support RFID application services on the interactive T-DMB. To realize the model, we design a service scenario, a network reference model, functionalities of each entity, a data transmission mechanism messages, and coding rules. The service model could allow users to support the identical RFID application services over the T-DMB network even if T-DMB terminal doesn't have RFID reader capability. In addition, in the case for providing the interactive TTI(Traffic and Travel Information)service, users could utilize the current location based RFID application service using by the TPEG-Location application that forms the basis of user location referencing.   • Various satellite sensors having ranges of the visible, infrared, and thermal wavelengths have been launched due to the improvement of hardware technologies of satellite sensors development. According to the development of satellite sensors with various wavelength ranges, the fusion and integration of multisensor images are proceeded. Image matching process is an essential step for the application of multisensor images. Some algorithms, such as SIFT and SURF, have been proposed to co-register satellite images. However, when the existing algorithms are applied to extract matching points between optical and thermal images, high accuracy of co-registration might not be guaranteed because these images have difference spectral and spatial characteristics. In this paper, location of control points in a reference image is extracted by SURF, and then, location of their corresponding pairs is estimated from the correlation of the local similarity. In the case of local similarity, phase correlation method, which is based on fourier transformation, is applied. In the experiments by simulated, Landsat-8, and ASTER datasets, the proposed algorithm could extract reliable matching points compared to the existing SURF-based method.

  • 부산 에코델타시티는 세종 5-1 생활권과 더불어 스마트시티 국가시범도시이며, 사업대상지역은 평강천이 관류하여 맥도강, 서낙동강 본류로 흐르는 세물머리지역이 그 중심에 위치하고 있다. 하천을 중심으로 스마트시티가 조성되고 있으나 하천관리는 유역내 홍수관리, 수질관리 등등에 관한 정부주체 상위계획에 종속성이 강한 공공분야로서 단위사업에서 스마트시티에 걸맞는 하천관리계획을 수립하고 시행하는 것은 많은 어려움이 존재한다. 하천관리의 주 관심 대상은 이수를 제외하면 치수, 하천환경, 친수, 하천시설물로 대별할 수 있으며, 스마트 하천관리란 이들에 대한 현황 정보구축 및 지속적인 현행화, 그리고 이들 실제 정보를 토대로 한 합리적 운영과 실시간 연계운영 실현으로 공공서비스를 제공하는 것이라 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 국가연구개발사업에서 연구한 각 분야별 하천관리기법을 에코델타시티에 시범적용하여 스마트하천관리를 구현할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 에코델타시티 조성사업의 진행수준으로 인해 취득하기 어려운 정보들은 수립된 계획을 참조하여 적용하였다. 유역내 주 대상 하천들은 델타지역에서 수문으로 통제되므로 일반적인 하천과 달리 정수역에 가까운 특이한 수리특성을 보이고 있지만, 우선 스마트 하천관리를 위한 일반적인 과정들을 시범적용 해보고 필요에 따라 특성 고려 방안을 찾고자 하였다. 유역내 정량적 홍수위험도 평가, 하천환경 평가 적용방안, 하천시설물 관리방안, 주요 지점의 실시간 모니터링 방안 등이 에코델타시티 조성사업 진행단계를 고려하여 수행되고 있다. 사용편의성과 지속가능성을 담보하기 위한 하천연계플랫폼을 구축하여, 개발된 기법들을 각각 내부 모듈로 장착하거나 완성도에 따라 외부모듈로 연계할 수 있도록 하였다. 현재 개발된 기법들의 시스템화 완성 및 관련 정보들의 데이터베이스 확대를 위한 노력이 진행되고 있으며, 향후 하천관리연계플랫폼의 실제 운영을 통하여 완성도를 높여갈 계획이다.

A Fast 4X4 Intra Prediction Method using Motion Vector Information and Statistical Mode Correlation between 16X16 and 4X4 Intra Prediction In H.264|MPEG-4 AVC (H.264|MPEG-4 AVC 비디오 부호화에서 움직임 벡터 정보와 16~16 및 4X4 화면 내 예측 최종 모드간 통계적 연관성을 이용한 화면 간 프레임에서의 4X4 화면 내 예측 고속화 방법)

  • H.264| MPEG-4 AVC is a new video codingstandard defined by JVT (Joint Video Team) which consists of ITU-T and ISO/IEC. Many techniques are adopted fur the compression efficiency: Especially, an intra prediction in an inter frame is one example but it leads to excessive amount of encoding time due to the decision of a candidate mode and a RDcost calculation. For this reason, a fast determination of the best intra prediction mode is the main issue for saving the encoding time. In this paper, by using the result of statistical relation between intra $16{\times}16$ and $4{\times}4$ intra predictions, the number of candidate modes for $4{\times}4$ intra prediction is reduced. Firstly, utilizing motion vector obtained after inter prediction, prediction of a block mode for each macroblock is made. If an intra prediction is needed, the correlation table between $16{\times}16$ and $4{\times}4$ intra predicted modes is created using the probability during each I frame-coding process. Secondly, using this result, the candidate modes for a $4{\times}4$ intra prediction that reaches a predefined specific probability value are only considered in the same GOP For the experiments, JM11.0, the reference software of H.264|MPEG-4 AVC is used and the experimental results show that the encoding time could be reduced by 51.24% in maximum with negligible amounts of PSNR drop and bitrate increase.

An Improved Motion/Disparity Vector Prediction for Multi-view Video Coding (다시점 비디오 부호화를 위한 개선된 움직임/변이 벡터 예측)

  • Generally, a motion vector and a disparity vector represent the motion information of an object in a single-view of camera and the displacement of the same scene between two cameras that located spatially different from each other, respectively. Conventional H.264/AVC does not use the disparity vector in the motion vector prediction because H.264/AVC has been developed for the single-view video. But, multi-view video coding that uses the inter-view prediction structure based on H.264/AVC can make use of the disparity vector instead of the motion vector when the current frame refers to the frame of different view. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an improved motion/disparity vector prediction method that consists of global disparity vector replacement and extended neighboring block prediction. From the experimental results of the proposed method compared with the conventional motion vector prediction of H.264/AVC, we achieved average 1.07% and 1.32% of BD (Bjontegaard delta)-bitrate saving for ${\pm}32$ and ${\pm}64$ of global vector search range, respectively, when the search range of the motion vector prediction is set to ${\pm}16$.

3D Reconstruction of an Indoor Scene Using Depth and Color Images (깊이 및 컬러 영상을 이용한 실내환경의 3D 복원)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method for 3D reconstruction of an indoor scene using a multi-view camera. Until now, numerous disparity estimation algorithms have been developed with their own pros and cons. Thus, we may be given various sorts of depth images. In this paper, we deal with the generation of a 3D surface using several 3D point clouds acquired from a generic multi-view camera. Firstly, a 3D point cloud is estimated based on spatio-temporal property of several 3D point clouds. Secondly, the evaluated 3D point clouds, acquired from two viewpoints, are projected onto the same image plane to find correspondences, and registration is conducted through minimizing errors. Finally, a surface is created by fine-tuning 3D coordinates of point clouds, acquired from several viewpoints. The proposed method reduces the computational complexity by searching for corresponding points in 2D image plane, and is carried out effectively even if the precision of 3D point cloud is relatively low by exploiting the correlation with the neighborhood. Furthermore, it is possible to reconstruct an indoor environment by depth and color images on several position by using the multi-view camera. The reconstructed model can be adopted for interaction with as well as navigation in a virtual environment, and Mediated Reality (MR) applications.
