An experimental study was carried out in order to investigate the influence of Reynolds number on the near-wake of an oscillating airfoil. An NACA 0012 airfoil was sinusoidally pitched at the quarter chord point, and is oscillated over a range of instantaneous angles of attack of $\pm$6$^{\circ}$. An X-type hot-wire probe was employed to measure the near-wake of an oscillating airfoil, and the smoke-wire visualization technique was used to examine the flow properties of the boundary layer. The free-stream velocities were 1.98, 2.83 and 4.03 m/s and the corresponding chord Reynolds numbers were 2.3${\times}10^4$, 3.3$\times$104 and 4.8${\times}10^4$, respectively. The frequency of airfoil oscillation was adjusted to fix a reduced frequency of K=0.1. The results show that the properties of the boundary layer and the near-wake can dramatically be distinguished in the range of Reynolds numbers between 2.3${\times}10^4$ and 3.3${\times}10^4$, on the other hand, it is similar in the cases of Re=3.3$\times$104 and 4.8$\times$104. This is caused by that the unsteady separation point is dramatically delayed in case of Re= 2.3${\times}10^4$.

In the dissertation, a power conversion system for fuel cell is composed of a PWM inverter with LC filter in order to convert fuel cell voltage to a single phase 220[V]. In addition, new insulated DC-DC converters are proposed in order that fuel cell voltage is boosted to 380[V]. In this paper, it requires smaller components than existing converters, which makes easy control. The proposed DC-DC converter controls output power by the adjustment of phase-shift width using switch $S_5\;and\;S_6$ in the secondary switch which provides 93-97[%] efficiency in the wide range of output voltage. Fuel cell simulator is implemented to show similar output characteristics to actual fuel cell. Appropriate dead time td enables soft switching to the range where the peak value of excitation current in a high frequency transformer is in accordance with current in the primary circuit. Moreover, appropriate setting to serial inductance La reduces communication loss arisen at light-load generator and serge voltage arisen at a secondary switch and serial diode. Finally, TMS320C31 board and EPLD using PWM switching technique to act a single phase full-bridge inverter which is planed to make alternating current suitable for household

OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communications system is very attractive for the high data rate wireless transmission. However, it may be distorted in the nonlinear HPA(High Power Amplifier) since OFDM signal has hish PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). In this paper, a new method using control tone is studied for reducing the PAPR and we call it PCT(PAPR Control Tone) method. This proposed PCT method is to assign control tones for PAPR reduction at the predefined sub-carriers. After IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) and PAPR calculation, the OFDM data signal of the lowest PAPR is selected to transmit. Unlike the conventional method, it can cut down the computational complexity because it does not require the transmission and demodulation process of side information about the phase rotation. Furthermore, if this method is made up in parallel configuration, it can solve the time delay problem so that it can be processed in real time processing. This proposed method is compared with the conventional selected mapping(SLM) technique. We find out the PAPR reduction performance and BER when the number of control tone is 6 and nonlinear HPA is considered.

This paper proposes a new predistortion linearizer with controlling intermodulation distortion(IMD) signals. This linearizer achieves independent control of third- and fifth-order intermodulation distortion products using amplitude modulation with even harmonic signals. A vector modulator that modulate fundamental signal with both second- and fourth-order harmonic components generated by harmonic generator circuits, generates the inverse characteristics third-and fifth-order intermodulation signals of power amplifier and controls amplitude and phase of them with each other modulation factors. As a results, this linearizer is suppressed IMD signals of power amplifier effectively. The test results show that the third IMD is cancelled more than 25 dB and the fifth order IMD is cancelled about 18 dB for CW two-tone signals. Also, it's improved the adjacent channel power ratio(ACPR) more than 7 dB for IS-95 CDMA signals.

In this paper, we present a frequency tunable and compact antenna which consists of a first-order Peano curve, two shorting posts, and two inductors which are serially connected between the posts and the edge of the Peano curve. By properly choosing the inductance of two inductors, the operating frequency of the antenna can be controlled without sacrificing the fractional bandwidth. To give good demonstration of the operating mechanism, the equivalent circuit of this antenna is included. To validate the simulation results, we have fabricated the several antennas of being integrated with different inductors, and the measured results show a good agreement with the simulated ones. The measured results reveal that the operating frequency is shifted from 1.47 GHz to 0.586 GHz without the decrease of the input impedance bandwidth. In case of integrating two inductors of 91nH and 470nH, the electric size of the antenna is only $0.0246 {\lambda}{\times}0.0246{\lambda}{\times}0.0114{\lambda}$. The measured fractional bandwidth$(S_{11}{\leq}-10 dB)$ and the radiation efficiency of the antenna are 5.22% and 47.25%, respectively.

We have presented a compact two-wire helical antenna adopted an open stub in opposite to a feeding point, which is for a T-DMB antenna of mobile devices. By adjusting the length of the open stub or pasting a dielectric material on the open stub, the input impedance around 200 MHz, bands of the T-DMB, can be easily control, even though the total height of the antenna is less than 8 cm(0.053 $\lambda$ at 200 MHz). The operating mechanism of the antenna is explained by using equivalent circuits of two modes, an unbalanced mode and a balanced mode. Based on the analysis of the equivalent circuits, the effects of using the open stub are validated. Several proposed antennas have been fabricated and measured. One of the fabricated antennas has -10 dB impedance bandwidth of $196{\sim}204$ MHz(8 MHz) whose value covers one channel of the T-DMB(6 MHz). The measured $S_{21}$ of the antenna is -38.6 dB which is about 17 dB higher than that of a monopole antenna whose height is same with the proposed antenna.
As the waveguide width and the radius of curvature get smaller for the effort of monolithic fabrication of integrated photonic devices, the waveguide characteristics change significantly according to the change of the waveguide width or the radius of curvature. Especially, variation of the waveguide width due to fabrication process errors induces a phase error for each waveguide from the change of the propagation constant. Therefore, it is important to quantify these variation effects on the device characteristics for the design and fabrication of highly integrated photonic devices. Here, we analyze four different types of waveguides to get general characteristics in propagation constant change by utilizing the effective index method and the analytic solution method. Futhermore, the output characteristics of two AWG(Arrayed Waveguide Grating) devices are simulated by a highly-functional computer code. The simulated results have been found to be similar to the realistic device characteristics. The required fabrication error limit for the ridge-type InP-AWG device should be smaller than 0.02 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to get better channel crosstalk than-25 dB, while the required fabrication error limit for rib-type silica-AWG devices may be allowed up to 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to obtain better crosstalk than -30 dB.
The concept of innate immunity in insects which refers to the first line of host defense constitutes the humoral and cellular components which are involved in recognition and actively participate in the elimination of the intruding foreign micro- or macro-organisms. Several recent studies suggest that juvenile hormone (JH) modulates the cellular immune reactions in response to pathogen. In this study, pyriproxyfen (a JH agonist as an insect growth regulator) was tested in its any inhibitory effect on the immune reactions of the beet armyworm, Spodoptera exigua. To this end, five different hemocyte morphotypes of final instar S. exigua were identified by phase contrast microscopy. Plasmatocytes and granular cells, which constitute about 90% of the total hemocyte count, were prominently distinguished based on their basophilic/acidophilic nature using Giemsa stain. The role of pyriproxyfen on the functional ability of hemocytes was analyzed using FITC-labeled Providencia vermicola for the phagocytic potential of the hemocytes. Both granular cells and plasmatocytes exhibited phagocytosis behavior. Pyriproxyfen significantly inhibited the phagocytosis of both cell types, proposing its novel action as an immunosuppressant.

The X-ray detector by liquid crystal with front light was proposed and verified by a X-ray image. The proposed detector utilizes the visible light instead of the electric signal by transistor. Therefore, it shows low noise and can be fabricated at low cost. The liquid crystal detector uses the orientation change of the liquid crystal molecule by conductivity change of the photoconductive layer. We can get the X-ray image from the transmitted light through the liquid crystal. The X-ray dose was calibrated from the measured transmittance of the visible light after comparison to the reference transmittance curve of the liquid crystal. The amorphous Se was used for photo con ducting layer and parylene was used for the liquid crystal alignment instead of the conventional alignment layer which needs high-temperature process over 200℃. The proposed X-ray detector can decrease the X-ray dose by high sensitivity which was verified by simulation. After the fabrication of the X-ray detector, the X-ray image was obtained as a function of the bias voltage to the liquid crystal. 10 lines/mm resolution was obtained from the line pattern and we will apply it to the 17inch diagonal liquid crystal X-ray detector with 3π retardation.

Through analytical method based on S-76 model, the level of rotor hub vibration reduction was analyzed according to higher harmonic actuating by individual blade control. The higher harmonic actuating method for individual blades was divided into a method of generating an additional actuating force from the pitch-link in the rotating part and generating actuating force through the active trailing edge flap control of the blade. In the 100kts forward flight conditions, the hub load analysis was performed by changing the phase angle of 15 degree for the 2P/3P/4P/5P harmonic actuation for individual blades. Through the harmonic actuation results, the sensitivity of the rotor system according to the actuating conditions was analyzed, and the T-matrix representing the characteristics of the rotor system was derived based on this analysis result. And through this T-matrix, optimal higher harmonic actuating condition was derived to minimize hub vibration level for flight condition. In addition, the effect on the performance of the rotor system and the pitch-link load under minimum hub vibration condition, as well as the noise influence through the noise analysis were confirmed.
