UWB Bandpass Filter Using Capacitive Coupling with Cross Resonator ("+"자 공진기와 용량성 결합을 이용한 초광대역 대역 통과 여파기)

  • This article introduces a novel ultra wideband(UWB) bandpass filter(BPF) with sharp roll-off characteristics in stripline structure. The UWB characteristic is basically obtained from capacitive coupled cross resonator. The resonator has ${\lambda}/2$ length. And at the center of the resonator, two stubs are loaded, one is a ${\lambda}/8$ short-circuited stub and the other is a ${\lambda}/8$ open-circuited stub. The two stubs provide two attenuation poles at lower and upper cutoff frequencies. For input and output lines, two identical capacitively coupled lines have been installed to suppress the unwanted signals in the lower and upper stopbands. The filter has been designed for the U.S. UWB band(3.1~10.6 GHz) with two transmission zeros at 2.4 and 11.1 GHz. The filter has been realized with Low Temperature Core-fired Ceramic(LTCC) green tape which has the dielectric constant of 7.8. Measurement results agree well with HFSS simulation results. Insertion loss less than 0.7 dB and return loss better than 14 dB in the pass band have been measured. The group delay in the center frequency is 0.27 ns and the group delay variation within pass band is less than 0.5 ns. The size of the filter is $6{\times}18{\times}0.6\;mm^3$.

B1+ Homogenizaion over Whole Field of View in High Field MRI (고자장 MRI에서의 영상 영역에 대한 B1+ 균질성)

  • In high static field magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) systems, $B_0$ fields of 7 T and 9.4 T, the impressed RF field shows larger inhomogeneity than in clinical MRI systems with B0 fields of 1.5 T and 3.0 T. In multi-channel RF coils, the magnitude and phase of the input to each coil element can be controlled independently to reduce the non-uniformity of the impressed RF $B_1^+$ field. The convex optimization technique has been used to obtain the optimum excitation parameters with iterative solutions for homogeneity in a selected ROI(Region of Interest). To demonstrate the technique, the multichannel transmission line coil was modeled together with a human head phantom at 400 MHz for the 9.4 T MRI system and $B_1^+$ fields are obtained. In this paper, all the optimized $B_1^+$ in each isolated ROIs are combined to achieve significantly improved homogeneity over the entire field of view. The simulation results for 9.4 T MRI systems are discussed in detail.

-1 Mode Circularly Polarized Patch Antenna Using CRLH Transmission Line (CRLH 전송 선로 구조를 이용한 -1 모드 원형 편파 패치 안테나)

  • In this paper, a compact circularly polarized metamaterial patch antenna using the -1 mode that is induced by the composit right-left handed(CRLH) transmission line is proposed. Basically, since the -1 mode is the same properties with the +1 mode of the conventional patch antenna, the circular polarization(CP) is realized. If two orthogonal -1 modes are excited with $90^{\circ}$ phase difference, the CP property can be obtained. In order to obtain two orthogonal modes and $90^{\circ}$ phase difference, 4 mushroom structures having the shape of triangle are employed and the inter-digital gaps are optimized, respectively. The fabricated antenna is based on RT/duroid5880 substrate and the total area of the 4 mushrooms is $0.161{\lambda}_0{\times}0.161{\lambda}_0$. It is confirmed that the center frequency of the proposed antenna is measured as 2.845 GHz and it operates from 2.830 GHz to 2.850 GHz. In addition, the antenna maintains the CP property from 2.842 GHz to 2.847 GHz at the peak gain and the measured radiation efficiency is 46 %.

Design of Q-Band LC VCO and Injection Locking Buffer 77 GHz Automotive Radar Sensor (77 GHz 자동차용 레이더 센서 응용을 위한 Q-밴드 LC 전압 제어 발진기와 주입 잠금 버퍼 설계)

  • In this paper, we present the design of Q-band LC VCO and injection locking buffer for 77 GHz automotive radar sensor using 130 nm RF CMOS process. To improve the phase noise characteristic of LC tank, the transmission line is used. The negative resistance by the active device cross-coupled pair of buffer is used for high output power, with or without oscillation of buffer. The measured phase noise is -102 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency and tuning range is 34.53~35.07 GHz. The output power is higher than 4.1 dBm over entire tuning range. The fabricated chip size is $510{\times}130\;um^2$. The power consumption of LC VCO is 10.8 mW and injection locking buffer is 50.4 mW from 1.2 V supply.

A Study on the Fabrication of the 4 Port In-Phase High Power Combiner (4포트 동위상 고출력 전력결합기의 구현에 관한 연구)

  • The broadband high power 3-way combiner was designed and fabricated for the digital TV repeater. To achieve increase of the bandwidth and the high power capability, Wilkinson type power divider was adopted in our research. First of all, Wilkinson type power divider of equal-split and unequal-split were combined, and the characteristics of the four port in-phase power combiner was simulated for each thickness of dielectric substrates. As the results of simulation, the power combiner fabricated by using dielectric substrate of 120 mil-thickness has the characteristics as follows: insertion loss of less than -651 dB, reflection coefficient of less than -13 dB, isolation among the output ports of less than -15 dB, and pose difference among the output ports of smiler than 13$^{\circ}$. Therefore, this power combiner was possible to improve the limit of microstrip line width due to high impedance, the problem of power loss due to interaction between strip lines in a high power combiner and narrow bandwidth simultaneously. Furthermore, making broadband and high power could be achieved since the fabricated 3-way combiner has good characteristics of insertion loss, the reflection coefficient, separation between ports, and phase difference.

A Longing for Attachment and Revelation of Separation Anxiety (애착의 갈망과 분리불안의 발현 - <하진양문록> 진세백의 경우 -)

  • This writing establishes identity of JinSeBaek, a male protagonist from a classical novel Hajinyangmunrok, through examining his relationship with a female character named HaOkJu. The character JinSeBaek was analyzed with attachment theory. JinSeBaek is a type of character who openly expresses his emotions. The evidence that JinSaeBaek falls in love with HaOkJu at a first sight was mainly shown through his physical affection with her. After the breakup, JinSeBaek expresses sadness, depression, and anger, as well as sheds tears. Although JinSeBaek repeatedly breaks up and gets back together with HaOkJu, JinSaeBaek consistently shows his desire to be with HaOkJu. Expressing true emotions was not ideal characteristic for men in this era. JinSaeBaek develops attachment to HaOkJu after he loses his parents, whom he has previously developed attachment to, but repeated break ups with HaOkJu leads to separation anxiety. Although his separation anxiety is caused by HaOkJu, it is also HaOkJu who can resolve the anxiety. The fact that JinSaeBaek honestly expresses his emotions and develops abnormal attachment to woman makes JinSaeBaek unique from other male protagonists. A character like JinSaeBaek is not common in other fictional novels or romance novels as well. Thus, JinSaebaek is claimed to be extraordinary character in literature.

Analysis of Co-movement and Causality between Supply-Demand Factors and the Shipping Market: Evidence from Wavelet Approach (웨이블릿 분석을 통한 수요-공급요인과 해운시황의 연관성 분석)

  • Considering the complex structure and high volatility in the shipping market, it is important to investigate the connectedness amongst influencing factors. This study explores the dynamic relationship between supply-demand factors and shipping freight indices. We choose Capesize and Panamax in the bulk carrier market and use quarterly data of GDP, world fleet, BCI, and BPI from 1999 to 2021. Applying the wavelet analysis and wavelet Granger causality test, the simultaneous examination of co-movement and causality between two factors and the shipping market in both the time and frequency domains is achieved. We find that co-movement and causality vary across time and frequencies, thereby existing dynamic relationships between variables. Second, compared to multiple coherencies using demand and supply factors together, partial coherencies indicate noticeable causalities. It implies that analyzing demand and supply factors separately is essential. Finally, shipping freight indices show a high correlation with the demand factor in a good market and with the supply factor in a bad market. Generally, GDP positively leads shipping freights in the recovery phase while the world fleet negatively leads shipping freights in the downturn. The research is meaningful in that the rarely-applied wavelet analysis is adopted in the shipping market and that it gives a reasonable ground to explain the role of supply and/or demand factors in different phases of the market cycle.

  • The king-vassal-subject relation in neo-confucianism can be elucidated in their status context as well as in their communicative context. In their status context, there are two aspects of power such as sovereignty and rule. Chu-zhi thinks that subjects are nobler than king in the aspect of sovereignty, but the relation is reversed in the aspect of ruling power. These two relaitions are not contradictory, but compatible. When ruling power operates, he thinks, king, vassals and word-watching officials(諫官) must check each other. In their communicative context, there are theories of sympathy and public discourse. Sympathy consists of moral sympathy through virtue politics and emotional sympathy through enjoying together. Chu-zhi finds a theoretical basis of public discourse in the place where heavenly principle meets with human mind. Public discourse is to search for common good. Institutional arrangements for public discourse are the official's rights to open and free speech. He thinks that word-watching officials must be speech leaders.

The Reactive Power Compensation for a Feeder by Control of the Power Factor of PWM Converter Trains (PWM 컨버터 차량의 역률 제어를 통한 급전선로의 무효전력 보상)

  • PWM converter trains exhibit excellent load characteristics in comparison with conventional phase-controlled trains with low power factors, as they can be operated at power factors which are close to unity by means of a voltage vector control method. However, in the case of a high track density or extended feeding, significant line losses and voltage drops can occur. Instead of operating these trains at a fixed unity power factor, this paper suggests a continuous optimal power factor control scheme for each train in an effort to minimize line losses and improve voltage drops according to varying load conditions. The proposed method utilizes the steepest descent algorithm targeting each car in the same feeding section to establish the optimized reactive power compensation levels that can minimize the reactive power loss of the feeder. The results from a simulation of a sample system show that voltage drops can be improved and line losses decreased.

A Novel Feed Network for a Sectoral Conical Beam (분할된 원추형 빔 형성을 위한 안테나 급전 구조)

  • We propose a novel feed network for a $2{\times}2$ array antenna to form a sectoral conical beam. The proposed feed network, which is a symmetrical structure, consists of four $90^{\circ}$ hybrids, a crossover, and four $90^{\circ}$ delay lines. To verify the performance of the feed network a $2{\times}2$ array antenna and the feed network are fabricated on a microstrip structure, and the radiation patterns are measured at the center frequency of 2.57 GHz. The maximum radiation is measured at the $45^{\circ}$ elevation angle and at the $45^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, $225^{\circ}$, and $315^{\circ}$ azimuth angles depending on the choice of the input port of the feed network.
