Design of the Broad Band Phase Shifter for DTV Receiver (DTV(Digital TV) 수신 모듈용 광대역 가변 위상기의 설계)

  • In this paper, a design method is proposed for the reflection type phase shifter applied to the DTV(Digital TV) receiver, and a phase shifter is designed by using the design equations to satisfy the phase shifting range over 180 degrees for frequency range from 470 MHz to 860 MHz, the receiving band of DTV. From the proposed method, it is possible that the systematic design of the reflection type phase shifter with desired phase shifting range and insertion loss. In addition, it is found that the realized phase shifter satisfies the given specifications.

Experiment of Phase Shifter and Voltage Variable Attenuator for Linear Analog Optical Transmitter by Feedforward Compensation (피드포워드 선형화 아날로그 광 송신기를 위한 위상 천이기와 전압 가변 감쇄기의 제작과 측정)

  • 광 전송 마이크로 셀룰라 시스템과 부반송파 다중 송신 시스템 같은 마이크로파 광 전송기술을 이용한 시스템들은 송신기의 비선형성에 의해서 발생하는 많은 왜곡 성분들, 특히 레이저 다이오드에서 발생한 왜곡 성분들에 의해서 많은 성능의 제한을 받는다. 이러한 왜곡 성분들을 제거하기 위해서 광 피드포워드 방식을 이용한 광 송신기를 제안하였다. 제작된 피드포워드 선형화 아날로그 광 송신기는 2.1 GHz 투톤 실험에서 38 dB의 IMD 개선 효과를 보였다. 여기에서 위상 천이기와 전압 가변 감쇄기는 신호 크기 허용오차를 0.1 dB, 위상 허용오차 $1^{\circ}$범위 이내에서 설계하였다. 이를 위해서 세밀한 위상과 크기의 조정이 가능한 위상 천이기와 전압 가변 감쇄기를 제작하였고, 측정한 결과, 전압 가변에 따른 위상 변화량과 크기 변화량은 각각 위상 천이기는 $90^{\circ}$, 전압 가변 감쇄기는 14 dB를 기록하였다.

The variable power divider circuit to use the ring-hybrid coupler (링-하이브리드 커플러를 이용한 가변 전력 분배기 회로)

  • This paper introduces a new variable power divider circuit with an arbitrary power division ratio ranging from $1:{\infty}$ to ${\infty}:1$. The proposed power divider circuit consists of one branch-line coupler to be a good input matching characteristic, two variable phase shifters with 90-degree phase variation to be connected two output paths of the branch-line coupler, and one ring-hybrid coupler to combine output signals of two variable phase shifter. The power division ratio between the two output ports of the proposed power divider can be easily controlled by the phase variation of the two phase shifter. The proposed power divider circuit fabricates on laminated RF-35 (h = 20 mil, er=3.5; Taconic) with a center frequency of 2 GHz. The power division ratio of the fabricated prototype varies from about 1:1000 to 5000000:1, with an input reflection characteristic(S11) of below -20 dB, an insertion loss of about -1.0 dB, and an isolation characteristic of below -17 dB between two output ports in the range 1.9-2.1 GHz.

Improvement of Linearity in Delay Cell Loads for Differential Ring Oscillator (지연 셀의 부하 저항 선형성을 개선한 차동 링 발진기)

  • In this paper, the issue of the differential ring oscillator in designing low phase noise is linearity improvement of delay cell's load resistor. A novel differential delay cell that improves on the Maneatis load is proposed. The linearity improvement of load resistor results in lower phase noise in ring oscillator. For comparison of the phase noise characteristics, Ali Hajimiri's phase noise model is used. In order to have a low ISF(impulse sensitivity function), it is important to have a symmetry between rise time and fall time of oscillation waveform. The ISF value of ing oscillator based on the proposed delay cell is lower than that of the existing ring oscillators. Due to this result, the phase noise is improved by 2~3dBc/Hz for the same power dissipation and oscillation frequency.

  • The proposed variable pawer divider in this paper is composed of one equal power 2-way Wilkinson power divider, two variable phase shifters with 90-degree phase variation to be connected two output paths of the 2-way power divider, and one branchline coupler to combine output signals of two variable phase shifter. The proposed variable power divider can theoretically have an arbitrary power division ratio ranging from ${\infty}:1$ to ${\infty}:1$ due to 90-degrees phase variation of two phase shifter. The proposed power divider circuit fabricates on laminated TLX-9(h=20 mil, er=2.5; Taconic) with a center frequency of 1.7 GHz. The power division ratio of the fabricated prototype varies from about 1:100 to 200:1, with an input reflection characteristic(S11) of below -16 dB, an insertion loss of about -1.0 dB, and an isolation characteristic of below -17 dB between two output ports in the range 1.65-1.75 GHz.

  • In this paper, a phase shifter with shifting photonic bandgap(PBG) cell in linear feedforward amplifier is designed and fabricated in 5GHz wireless LAN band. Now a day, the phase shifter has been fabricated with hybrid type. In this paper, a portion of PBG cell is shifted for the tuning phase. The phase shift was achieved maximum 80o in our PBG structure. Shifting PBG cell has been applied in feedforward main loop to cancel the main two tone signal.

A $\pi$-type Variable Attenuator with Low Phase Shift (저위상 변화 특성을 갖는 $\pi$-형 가변 감쇠기)

  • A voltage controlled attenuator using a PIN diode and two resistors of the $\pi$-type fixed attenuator is described in this paper. The proposed variable attenuator operating for a fixed attenuation range has a good input VSWR and a low intermodulation signal. For the low phase shift, a PIN diode is connected with open stub for the purpose of phase compensation. The stub for phase compensation is calculated by the Deloach method and the related circuit theory. This attenuator is easily fabricated on the microstrip and can be normally used in fine control circuits within small attenuation range. The fabricated attenuator for 2110~2170 MHz frequency band has about 4 dB of an attenuation range, $2^{\circ}$ of phase variance, and -20 dB of S11 according to the input voltage from 0 to 2.7 V.

  • 하나 또는 다수개의 압전액츄에이터(piezoelectric actuator)로 구성된 시스템에서 구동 효율을 높이는데 직접적인 영향을 미치는 고정밀과 빠른 응답 특성을 구현(implementation)하기 위하여, 입력전압에 대하여 출력전압이 선형적으로 추종하고 주파수 가변(variable)이 독립적이며 순차적으로 제어가 가능한 위상가변(phase shifting)형 압전액츄에이터 구동장치의 설계가 필요하다. 구동신호론 증폭하고 가변하는 고전압 증폭 구동장치는 압전액츄에이터 구동에 직접 영향을 주게 되므로, 이의 특성인 고주파에서의 위상지연 보상, 높은 회전비(slew rate)로 고전압에서 정현파의 찌그럼짐을 방지, 전압이득의 가변 및 안정화, 입력 및 출력 임피던스의 개선과 주파스 대역폭(band width)의 확장 등은 매우 중요하다.(중략)

  • This paper presents a novel series connected DC/DC converter and a proper variable phase shift switching method in order to obtain high voltage ratio for fuel cell system. The proposed series connected DC/DC converter has same rectifier and LC filter for DC output voltage, so it can reduce the number of passive devices regardless of the converter number. In the conventional constant phase shift switching method, the proposed series connected DC converters have inverse bias output voltage. In order to overcome this problem, a simple but proper variable phase shift switching method is proposed in the a novel series connected DC/DC converter. In order to verify the proposed system, simulation and experiments are implemented.

  • 본 논문에서는 P-HEMT Gate-바이어스 튜닝에 의한 위상동기 마이크로파 발진기를 설계하였다. 설계된 유전체 발진기는 병렬궤환공진 형태로서 P-HEMT의 게이트단에서 전압을 제어하여 전압제어발진기 형태로 주파수를 가변시키므로서 안정된 위상동기신호를 나타나도록 하였다. 위상동기방식은 외부에서 제공되는 125㎒의 기준주파수를 SRD로 체배시켜 하모닉 신호를 이용한 마이크로파 샘플링 위상검파 방식으로 설계하였으며, 유전체 발진기의 자유발진신호와 샘플링 신호사이의 위상비교에 의하여 ±1㎒ 범위의 고안정 특성을 갖는 13.25㎓대역의 위상고정 발진기의 동기화와 저 위상잡음을 나타내었다.
