  • Criminal profiling is a effective and efficient measure for enhancing industrial security of casino business. Particularly, developing criminal profiling of deviant behaviors in casino will help security management to become more effective and efficient in practical ways. Unfortunately, however, there is lack of empirical profiling study in this regard. To fill the vacuum of literature on this topic, this study was purported to create offender profiles of different types of deviant behaviors in casino based on various theories and techniques in criminal profiling literature, such as investigative psychology, linkage analysis, and behavioral evidence analysis. To fulfill the purposes, this study collected behavioral evidence from 90 casino security officers in South Korea. Offenders' behavioral evidence was analyzed to develop offender profiles of seven different types of deviant behaviors, and then the profiles were compared with each profiles that security officers focus on to identify offenders during their work hours. Results showed that, first, there were unique profiles of each type of seven different categories of deviant behaviors in terms of offenders' ways of speaking and acting, their appearance and attitudes. In addition, this study found that there were some amount of gaps between actual offenders' profiles and profiles that security officers have in mind. Based on the results, this study provided policy implications in terms of managing casino industrial security, education and training for security officers, and future study on casino security.

  • Nowadays, aggressive driving is a common driving behavior and it is raised as a dangerous factor for both drivers and passengers. However, it is hard to find studies on aggressive driving in Korea, and even the definition of aggressive behavior is not clearly explained. In this study, the term "aggressive behavior" is defined based on previous studies, and the significance of several psycho-social factors which affect aggressive driving were verified with the 'habit' factor from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). In the pilot study, domestic drivers reported that aggressive behaviors included speeding, traffic light signal violation, and improper passing (cutting drivers off when passing). In this study, controlling the demographic characteristics of these three aggressive behaviors, the authors explored the relationship of the behaviors with TPB factors such as the habit factor. Consequently, in the case of drivers' intentions for speeding and traffic light signal violations, subjective norm, perceived behavioral controllability, and habit were significant factors. In the case of intentions for improper passing, only perceived behavioral controllability and habit were significant. In speeding behavior and traffic light signal violations, only habit was significant besides intention; however, in improper passing, both perceived behavioral controllability and habit were significant besides intention. The authors also tested an alternative model including TPB and habit factors for three types of aggressive driving. Finally, there are several implications for a possible intervention program for aggressive driving, though there are some limitations of the study.

  • Many researches have argued the most important dimension of perception or evaluation of person is morality and competence in Korean culture. This study was to investigate the cultural characteristics of the criteria of personhood. Two studies were conducted to investigate the criteria used to evaluate person by qualitative approach and the differences of evaluation of wrongdoer who violates interpersonal norm or individual autonomy by experimental method. In addition, anger as emotional response to wrongdoer is conceptualized in terms of moral and self-conscious emotion. Expression of anger is less an outpouring of emotion and more a culturally regulated and normative mode of managing and putting into practice our society's system of rights and obligations - its moral code. According to results of qualitative data by interview and focus group interview, the most important criteria used to evaluate personhood was interpersonal concern, esp, expectation and norm. The results of experiment revealed that violation of interpersonal norm domain evoked angrier towards violator than autonomy domain. The subjects ascribed more blame and responsibility to interpersonal norm violator than autonomy keeper. Also function of behavior inhibition of anger was higher in interpersonal norm domain than autonomy domain.

  • We focused on the missing confirmation domain of the hasteful behavior. We tried to identify the variety of hasteful behavior and the effects of missing confirmation behavior domain of the hasteful behavior on driving behaviors. 388 drivers responded to Hasteful Behavior Questionnaire, Driver Behavior Questionnaire(DBQ), and Driving Experience Questions. Data which have missing values among them were removed, 374 data were analyzed. As a result of factor analysis, hasteful behavior consist of time pressure, uncomfortableness, isolation, boring condition, and expecting rewards, and the DBQ consist of violation, error, and lapse. The components of hasteful behavior was divided into the missing confirmation behavior and the need for achievement domain by the second factor analysis and difference verification of coefficient of correlation. The missing confirmation behavior domain of hasteful behavior had significant influence on error and lapse. The isolation of the missing confirmation behavior domain had a negative effect, and the uncomfortableness of the missing confirmation domain had a positive effect on violation. The time pressure had a negative effect, and the isolation and the uncomfortableness had a positive effect on error and lapse.

  • The present authors had conducted several researches(parking violation, traffic signal violation, speed violation, drunk-driving) on driving behaviors of the Korean people focused on cultural psychological perspective. This paper was designed to summarize these previous results. Although each research had dealt with different violation behaviors on driving, there were lots of similarities on the basis of violation. The results reveal the following rationale for incurring violation behaviors. First, most people reported that they violated the rule to pursuit short-term benefit. Second, the violators' psychological characteristics are described in terms of self-centered and self-justification. In addition, the respondents have justified their violated behaviors since the outcome is disadvantageous for the drivers. Furthermore, the violators' are found to possess a permissive attitude toward the other violators'. Finally, the implications of these studies were proposed. All of these findings were discussed in relation to the Korean culture.

As a result, Firstly, drivers' self-control affected mistakes, violations, errors of driving behavior, and driving environment, traffic regulations, accident control, time pressure of driving stress. It showed a statistical significant difference and the higher drivers' self-control is, the lower sub construct factor of driving behavior and driving stress. Secondly, those factors of drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress were correlated. The result showed the relationship between drivers' self-control, driving behavior and driving stress. It is also possible to utilize the information to prevent car accidents. Finally, it is expected to do research further by expanding the participants into multiple areas of people.

  • This study focused on driver's carefulness and researched the relationship between driving confidence and driving behaviour in elderly and young drivers. In order to evaluate the driving confidence level, 'Driving Confidence Scale' was developed. 175 of young drivers(younger than 25) and 150 of elderly drivers(older than 65) conducted Driving Confidence Scale. They answered their driving patterns; driving history, annual mileage, the frequency of committing traffic violation, and experience of accident within 5 years. Elderly driver's data was collected by face to face interview. The factors of driving confidence were analyzed and the driving confidence level of young and elderly drivers was compared. Driving Confidence was consisted of 4 factors; environment of traffic condition, safe driving, driving ability, attention. Elderly driver's confidence was lower than young driver's. Elderly drivers in high driving confidence group, showed longer driving history and they were tend to commit violations more frequently than elerly drivers in low driving confidence group. Young drivers, whose driving confidence level was high answered more driving history, annual mileage, the frequency of committing traffic violation and experience of accident within 5 years.
