  • As web technology and educational environments are in rapid progress, web-based cooperative learning systems have gained a lot of interests. Recently some studies have attempted to combine a learning system and simple games that enable learners to actively participate and have high interests in learning. These studies are based on TGT model, a cooperative learning model using games, and mostly remain system design levels. A few implemented systems have many problems because they focus only on pure TGT model. To solve these problems, this paper builds a extended TGT model and a new web-based cooperative learning system using this new model. The extended part contains ideas such as expert learning from Jigsaw II model, improvement scores from STAD model and making game problems by learners. A system using pure TGT model and a suggested system are implemented and used by two classes of middle school students to evaluate our system. The experimental results show that our system outperforms the other system.

  • As the development of IT technology and Web services have changed recently, education environment combined with high-tech digital content is becoming a new trend with the demands of educational consumers. In Korea, however, there is no systematic discussion on the issue, and there is not enough evidence to verify the effectiveness of the research. Therefore, we will systematically analyze the educational effects of Digital Storytelling to create an educational environment that meets the new horizon of intelligent web and personalized service provision in the Web3.0 era, In this study, 12 domestic experimental studies that verify the educational effects of digital storytelling were systematically analyzed, compared with overseas cases, and proposed development plans in the Web3.0 era.

  • The time of digital era and the increasing complexity of the management environment have raised uncertainties about the future. Companies have made steady investments in education as a way to prepare for the future. In this study, design and development methodology based on web - based management simulation games (manufacturing, distribution, finance) which author participated in development was presented. The development methodology presented in this study can be roughly divided into business simulation game design methodology and business simulation game development methodology. Since there is no existing research methodology for development methodology, development model is presented based on empirical based on development case. In this paper, we propose an overall content development methodology and propose a detailed methodology of the content.

  • We propose a feature map method to detect a collision for a motion-based game. The feature map can be made an optimally reduced motion data using subtraction image and virtual ball images according to image size and condition. And we calculate the overlapped ratio between moving image data and objects. This ratio is an invariant for detection even though image size is changed. And we compare this ration with collision detection constant, the feature map can detect fast collisions as well as the collided direction. To evaluate the method, we implemented a motion-base game that consists of a web cam, a player, an enemy, and some virtual balls, and we obtained some valid results for our method for the collision detection. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach is robust, and they can be used as a basic collide detection algorithm for a motion-based game where the size and the position of characters are continuously changing.

  • This paper is on the research result for analyzing the performance of GLORY(GLobal Resource management sYstem) used for Web Server Cluster system, which was developed at ETRI(Electronic and Telecommunication Research Institute). The paper includes the definition of Web Server Cluster System, the characteristics of the system, user oriented system performance, current performance enhancement methods, computer simulation model for GLORY and its experimental results for the performance of GLORY. GLORY is composed of 2048~1,000,000 units of PCs, and is used for Internet servers. From the results of the simulation experiments, we notice that GLORY has enough capacity to fully serve the appropriate level of Internet services. Also, the results show that Web server service time is longer than that for network transmission time but requires more DNS than expected, and that 100Mbps LAN is good enough for directly connecting Internet to the Web servers while not affecting the total system performance.

  • In this paper, I propose and prove the evaluation standard for educational web contents. I divide the evaluation standards into five types -drill and practice, tutorial, simulation, educational game, presentation. It is proved the propriety of evaluation standards by experts. The evaluation standards presented in this paper can hep teachers to choose and to develop the educational web contents. Therefore it will contribute to decreasing a burden to prepare instruction used ICT for teachers and increasing the effect of Information-Oriented Education.

  • SCORM is an implementation reference model and also a de-facto standard technology designed for developing e-learning contents and systems effectively. For recent years, as many researchers have been more interested than ever in game based learning, ADL as a SCORM developer, has initiated a basic research on game based learning. However, the game based learning research of ADL has been performed conceptually as well as separately from SCORM so that it lacks in efforts for developing a game based learning SCORM content by incorporating concrete game data into SCORM data model. In this paper, we first present a method for applying game data elements to SCORM data Model, and then illustrate a game based learning SCORM content developed by our method.
