This paper describes the development of a wearable robot to assist the elbow muscle for use by elderly workers in aging societies. Various previously developed wearable robots have drawbacks in terms of their price, portability, and slow recognition of the wearer's intention. In this paper, emphasis is placed on the following features to minimize these drawbacks. The first feature is that an actuator is attached only at the elbow joint that withstands the highest moment during arm motion to reduce the weight, volume, and price of the robot and increase its practicality. The second is that operation of the wearable robot is divided into two modes, a tracking mode and a muscle strengthening mode, and the robot can automatically switch between these modes by analyzing the wearer's intention through the brachial muscle strength measuring device developed in this study. The assistive performance of the developed wearable robot is experimentally verified by motion tracking experiments without an external load and muscle strengthening experiments with an external load. During the muscle strengthening experiments, the power of the muscle of the upper arm is measured by a commercial electromyography (EMG) sensor. Motion tracking performance at a speed of $120^{\circ}/s$ and muscle assistance of over 60 % were obtained using our robot.

As global interest in clothing spreads over the smart clothing which arouses high added-value in the apparel industry, this study is to develop a smart jacket with an electrically-vibrating device maintaining excellent appearance and comfort. The vibrating device has a massage function that could relieve muscle pain near shoulders and neck. The purposes of this research are to develop jacket pattern for men in their thirties considering body shapes and fashion trend, to develop a wearable device that is composed of motor and controller and integrate it into a jacket, and to assess the external appearance and functional satisfaction of the smart jacket through the wearing test. The results are as follows: 1. In order to develope an appropriate jacket pattern for men in their thirties, several patterns were assessed for their fitting comfort. The final pattern was completed after making alterations some parts, and showed high satisfaction as 3.6(on a five-point scale) in all categories. 2. A vibrating device was developed by connecting motor, controller, battery and switch. Developing this device, focus was maximizing the strength of motor and minimizing the heat generated from motor and controller. Snaps were placed between inner and outer cloth of jacket so that the vibrating device could be easily attachable and detachable. The motor was located around Trapezius where muscles often get stiff. A switch was designed to be used in selecting the modes of Strong, Weak, and Cross Tapping. 3. The wearing test was conducted to examine outer appearance, comfort for motion, and functionality of the smart jacket. The results of assessing outer appearance showed that the location for attaching the vibrating device was not noticeable but looked natural, and there is almost no change in outer appearance when the vibrating device operates. The result of assessing comfort of action revealed that wearer's satisfaction was high in all categories about activity, wearer's comfort, etc. The result also showed that wear's satisfaction for effects of vibrating massage, easiness in using the device, heat generation was not less than 3.5 in all categories except a category about noise.

In order to apply the patient monitoring system to the hospital field, it is necessary to be able to measure and analysis data the major bio-signals that are basically covered by the existing patient monitoring system. We have implemented a wearable device and the patient monitoring system for measuring ECG and oxygen saturation. The implemented system transmits the measured bio-signal to the server on the nursing station via Bluetooth. It is represented by graph waveforms and numerical values that can be checked by the medical staff in the patient monitoring system. The validity of this system is verified by comparing the data collected through the designed system with the data obtained from the conventional equipment.

The main challenge in designing wearable WBANs is to guarantee the balance of QoS demands in the network with the low power constraints of limited battery powered nodes. Low power devices implanted in or attached to the body should be designed to meet minimum energy requirements due to their limited battery life and be small in size to be easily wearable. In this paper, we propose a method for optimizing channel allocation method that is compatible with the IEEE 802.15.6 standard, enables the maximum amount of power charge at idle, guarantees the QoS of a WBAN, and provides the reliable date transmission between nodes and hubs in the network. Our extensive simulations will show that the method we propose not only maximizes the QoS in packet transmission but also improves the level of energy efficiency.

Currently, as the number of families living with companion animals increases, the demand for information about the health status of companion animals has increased. As the demand for this increases, there is a need for a method to measure respiration and pulse in companion animals. Considering the characteristics of hairy companion animals, we want to measure respiration and pulse signals using BCG, which is different from adsorption ECG. Since this BCG method is made by mixing respiration and pulse signals into one signal, it is necessary to separate the respiration signal waveform and the pulse signal waveform from one signal waveform. In this paper, a wearable device for BCG measurement was implemented to measure the signal, and a method of separating the signal input from the BCG wearable device into a respiration signal and a pulse signal was proposed.

Falling occurs unexpectedly during daily activities, causing many difficulties in life. The purpose of this study was to establish a system for fall detection of high-risk occupations and to verify their effectiveness by collecting data and applying it to predictive models. To this end, a wearable device was configured to detect fall by calculating acceleration signals and azimuths through acceleration sensors and gyro sensors. In addition, the study participants wore the device on their abdomen and measured necessary data from falls-related movements in the process of performing predetermined activities and transmitted it to the computer through a Bluetooth device present in the device. The collected data was processed through filtering, applied to fall detection prediction models based on deep learning algorithms which are 1D CNN, LSTM and CNN-LSTM, and evaluate the results.
