Modular platform techniques for multi-sensor/communication of wearable devices (웨어러블 디바이스를 위한 다중 센서/통신용 모듈형 플랫폼 기술)

  • In this paper, a modular platform for wearable devices is proposed which can be easily assembled by exchanging functions according to various field and environment conditions. The proposed modular platform consists of a 32-bit RISC CPU, a 32-bit symmetric multi-core processor, and a 16-bit DSP. It also includes a plug & play features which can quickly respond to various environments. The sensing and communication modules are connected in the form of a chain. This work is implemented in a standard 130 nm CMOS technology and the proposed modular wearable platforms are verified with temperature and humidity sensors.

  • 요즘 등산객의 수가 늘어나고 있으며 이에 따라 등산에 관련된 옷들과 장비들이 출시가 되고 있다. 이처럼 등산객이 늘어나고 새로운 등산복과 장비가 출시되었지만 해마나 등산 사고율은 여전히 증가하고 있다. 등산 사고 중 추락/낙상는 등산사고의 많은 비중을 차지한다. 이러한 사고가 일어났을 경우 빠르게 대처할 수 있는 방법으로는 다른 등산객이 구조대를 호출하는 방법 외에는 없다. 특히 혼자 등산을 하는 도중 추락사고가 일어나 혼자서 구조요청을 할 수 없는 상황이거나 정신을 잃었을 경우는 더욱더 그 상황을 대처하기가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 자이로센서, 가속도센서와 지그비센서를 이용하여 등산객의 위치와 움직임의 방향 및 속도를 측정하여 근거리 무선 통신을 통해 실시간으로 스마트폰에 정보를 전송하여 사용자에게 알려 주는 기능과 추락/낙상 사고가 일어났을 경우 지정되어 있는 핸드폰으로 구조요청 메시지를 보내고, 구조대를 호출하여 초기에 대처할 수 있는 효과적인 방법을 제시하였다.

Developing Wearable Joystick Device Using Magnetic Sensor (자기장 센서를 이용한 웨어러블 조이스틱 장치의 개발)

  • There has been demand for many magnetic sensor applications, and to develop low-cost devices, it is critical to accurately understand the behavior of the magnetic field and the characteristics of magnetic sensors and target devices during initial development phase. The magnetic field has been known to have very complicated nonlinear data to calculate, so it has required expensive computing machines or research to accurately calculate the magnetic sensor values. However, this paper introduces a characteristic of a magnetic sensor called the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) and proposes simple and sufficient approaches to develop a wearable joystick device using a magnetic sensor. Particularly, this paper introduces the design factors for how to properly develop a low-cost wearable joystick device using magnetic sensors after carefully considering the mechanism of a real joystick and the characteristics of magnetic sensors. As a result, user test results are provided to show how users can operate this new wearable joystick device.

A Study on the Gesture Based Virtual Object Manipulation Method in Multi-Mixed Reality

  • In this paper, We propose a study on the construction of an environment for collaboration in mixed reality and a method for working with wearable IoT devices. Mixed reality is a mixed form of virtual reality and augmented reality. We can view objects in the real and virtual world at the same time. And unlike VR, MR HMD does not occur the motion sickness. It is using a wireless and attracting attention as a technology to be applied in industrial fields. Myo wearable device is a device that enables arm rotation tracking and hand gesture recognition by using a triaxial sensor, an EMG sensor, and an acceleration sensor. Although various studies related to MR are being progressed, discussions on developing an environment in which multiple people can participate in mixed reality and manipulating virtual objects with their own hands are insufficient. In this paper, We propose a method of constructing an environment where collaboration is possible and an interaction method for smooth interaction in order to apply mixed reality in real industrial fields. As a result, two people could participate in the mixed reality environment at the same time to share a unified object for the object, and created an environment where each person could interact with the Myo wearable interface equipment.

Design of Sensor Data's Missing Value Handling Technique for Pet Healthcare Service based on Graph Attention Networks (펫 헬스 케어 서비스를 위한 GATs 기반 센서 데이터 처리 기법 설계)

  • 센서 데이터는 여러가지 원인으로 인해 데이터 결측치가 발생할 수 있으며, 결측치로 인한 데이터의 처리 방식에 따라 데이터 분석 결과가 다르게 해석될 수 있다. 이는 펫 헬스 케어 서비스에서 치명적인 문제로 연결될 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 펫 웨어러블 디바이스로부터 수집되는 다양한 센서 데이터의 결측치를 처리하기 위해 GATs(Graph Attention neTworks)와 LSTM(Long Short Term Memory)을 결합하여 활용한 데이터 결측치 처리 기법을 제안한다. 펫 웨어러블 디바이스의 센서 데이터가 서로 연관성을 가지고 있다는 점을 바탕으로 인접 노드의 Attention 수치와 Feature map을 도출한다. 이후 Prediction Layer 를 통해 결측치의 Feature 를 예측한다. 예측된 Feature 를 기반으로 Decoding 과정과 함께 결측치 보간이 이루어진다. 제안된 기법은 모델의 변형을 통해 이상치 탐지에도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Gravity Removal and Vector Rotation Algorithm for Step counting using a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer (3축 MEMS 가속도 센서를 이용한 걸음 수 측정을 위한 중력 제거 및 백터 전환 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose Gravity Removal and Vector Rotation algorithm for counting steps of wearable device, and we evaluated the proposed GRVR algorithm with Micro-Electro-Mechanical (MEMS) 3-axis accelerometer equipped in low-power wearable device while the device is mounted on various positions of a walking or running person. By applying low-pass filter, the gravity elements are canceled from acceleration on each axis of yaw, pitch and roll. In addition to DC-bias removal and the low-pass filtering, the proposed GRVR calculates acceleration only on the yaw-axis while a person is walking or running thus we count the step even if the wearable device's axis are rotated during walking or running. The experimental result shows 99.4% accuracies for the cases where the wearable device is mounted in the middle and on the right of the belt, and 91.1% accuracy which is more accurate than 83% of commercial 3-axis pedometer when worn on wrist for the case of axis-rotation.

  • The wearable technology takes the concept of clothing over its limits -integrating software, communication devices, and sensors into the garments to enable them to 'think' for the wearer. A dress is no longer just a dress, but a dress as well as a wearable computer interface. This wearable computer network transports the data power and control signals within the wearer's personal space. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the wearable technology from a commercial perspective. On this theme I made a survey and interviewed 20 men and 20 women in London to find out if many people are familiar with the concept of the wearable technology. The main results of this study include: Firstly, according to the survey, people are not familiar with the concept of the wearable technology, and further people thought negatively about the wearable computer rather than positively they worried about hish prices, inappropriate technology and side effects. Secondly, people are especially interested in items related to health and security, so in this area there are huge potential opportunities for the wearable technology, Finally, wearable technology needs to be a simplified set of interactive devices, which are in a user friendly format for marketability because convenience was one of the biggest concern for consumers. Therefore, development of the wearable computer should be promoted not only through computer engineering but also through the connection with human lift.

  • 웨어러블 기기들의 환경은 저성능부터 고성능으로 다양하게 있다. 성능이 제한적인 기기에 대해서는 공개키 암호화 방식을 사용하여 지속적으로 통신하기에 어려웅움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 시각 정보를 이용한 비밀키 암호화 방식을 제안한다.

Gesture recognition with wearable device based on deep learning (딥러닝 기반의 웨어러블 디바이스에서의 제스처 인식)

  • 본 연구는 비접촉식 센서 기반의 웨어러블 디바이스를 이용한 딥러닝 기반의 제스처 인식에 대한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 Flexible MSG 센서를 기반으로 한 Flexible Epidermal Tactile Sensor를 사용하였으며, Flexible Epidermal Tactile Sensor는 손, 손가락 제스처를 취했을 때 손목, 손가락과 연결되어 있는 근육들의 움직임에 따라 발생하는 피부 표면의 전극을 취득하는 센서이다. 실험을 위하여 7가지 손, 손가락 제스처를 정의하였으며, 손목의 꺾임, 손목의 뒤틀림, 손가락의 오므림과 펴짐, 아무 동작도 취하지 않은 기본 상태에 대한 제스처로 정의하였다. 실험 데이터 수집에는 손목이나 손가락에 부상, 장애등이 없는 일반적인 8명의 참가자가 참가하였으며 각각 한 제스처에 대하여 20번씩 반복하여 1120개의 샘플을 수집하였다. 입력신호에 대한 제스처를 학습하기 위해 본 논문에서는 1차원 Convolutional Neural Network를 제안하였으며, 성능 비교를 위해 신호의 크기를 반영하는 특징벡터인 Integral Absolute Value와 Difference Absolute Mean Value를 입력신호에서 추출하고 Support Vector Machine을 사용하여 본 논문에서 제안한 1차원 CNN과 성능비교를 하였다. 그 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 1차원 CNN의 분류 정확도가 우수한 성능을 나타냈다.
