A broadband detection algorithm using cross-correlation of two split beams for cylindrical array sonar (원통형 배열 소나를 위한 두 개의 분리 빔의 상호상관을 이용한 광대역탐지 기법)

  • In a cylindrical sonar, a conventional broadband energy detector has limitations in the separation of adjacent targets. In this paper, a broadband detection algorithm using cross-correlation is applied to the cylindrical sonar to improve the bearing resolution. The proposed algorithm uses split beamforming before broadband detection processing using cross-correlation to generate half beams. The time delay obtained from the peak of correlation between half beams is used to estimate the bearing of target. Simulations demonstrate the improved performance of the proposed algorithm against the conventional algorithm.

  • 수중에서 물과 공기 다공을 갖는 다공성 매질의 주파수 및 다공율 변화에 따른 음향특성을 고찰하였다. 다공성 매질로서 원통형 다공을 인위적으로 균일하게 배열한 판형 루사이트 (Lucite)를 사용하였다. 수중에서 음파를 다공성 매질의 원통형 다공의 축 방향과 평행하게 입사하였을 때, 빠른 파 (fast wave)는 다공 내의 매질에 영향을 받지 않으나, 느린 파 (slow wave) 및 원통형 다공을 전파하는 비평면 고차 정상 모드 파 (nonplanar higher normal mode wave)는 다공 내의 매질에 크게 영향을 받는다. 3MHz부터 4MHz까지의 주파수 영역에서 전체 파 (total wave), 빠른 파 및 느린 파의 음속 및 음압투과계수를 주파수 및 물과 공기 다공율 변화에 따라 측정하였다. 비강체 다공성 매질에서의 음파 전파특성에 대한 MBA (modified Biot-Attenborough) 모델의 이론 결과와 실험결과를 비교, 분석하였다.

  • We fabricated thin films of polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate)(PS -b-PMMA) on the self-assembled monolayers(SAM) of 3-(p-methoxyphenyl)propyltrichlorosilane(MPTS) on silicon wafers. Cylindrical nanodomains of PMMA or PS were oriented perpendicular to the surface of silicon wafers due to the neutral affinity of the SAM to PS and PMMA blocks. By selective removal of the PMMA block with UV irradiation and washing, nanoporous films and nanorod assemblies were produced. The nanoporous film can be used for a nanolithographical mask.

  • 초전도전력케이블에서 교류손실은 케이블의 효율을 저하시킬 뿐만 아니라 냉동기비용 증가로 인한 기존 케이블과의 가격경쟁에서 경제성을 저하시키는 주된 요인으로 작용하기 때문에 이의 상용화에 앞서 교류손실에 대한 정확한 규명이 되어야 한다. 그러나 다수본으로 구성되는 단층원통형의 고온초전도전력케이블에서 교류손실을 올바르게 평가하는 것은 테이프의 상이한 임계전류, 전압리드의 배열, 전류분포의 불균일성 및 인접한 테이프에 흐르는 전류위상 상이 등 복잡한 영향인자 때문에 매우 난해하다. 본 연구에서는 고온초전도전력케이블과 같은 단층원통형 고온초전도도체를 제작하여 실험적으로 교류손실 특성을 규명하였고, 또한 전류용량이 교류손실 특성에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 조사하였다. 결과 원통형 고온초전도도체에서 교류손실 특성은 전류용량보다는 임계전류밀도에 더 의존하였다.

An Omnidirectional High Gain Antenna for UHF Band Ground Station (UHF대역 지상국용 무지향 고이득 안테나)

  • In this paper, we designed, fabricated and tested an UHF band cylindrical dipole array antenna. In the proposed antenna, cylindrical dipoles were vertically arranged in four stages. A parallel structure feeding circuit was installed inside the cylindrical dipole and mounted so as to be broadband matching. The feeding circuit was installed at the center of the cylindrical dipole to optimize the gain flatness characteristic of the azimuth direction omnidirectional radiation pattern. Minimizing the difference between the signals branched from the feeding circuit and realizing the symmetry of the radiation pattern. The required specifications are more than 11.2% bandwidth in UHF band, above 6dBi antenna gain, standing wave ratio of 2:1 or less, less than ${\pm}1dB$ gain flatness in azimuth radiation pattern, more than 13 degrees in elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beamwidth. We confirmed the possibility of implementation through M&S and verified the result of M&S through production and testing. The test results are 11.2% bandwidth in the UHF band, 6.30 to 8.31 dBi gain, 1.53:1 standing wave ratio or less, within ${\pm}0.2dB$ gain flatness in the azimuth radiation pattern, elevation radiation pattern of 3dB beam width was 15.62 to 15.84 degrees. The test result meets all requirements specifications.

Effect of the Cylindrical Baffle Configuration Behind Rigid Barrier on Impact Load of Debris Flow (중력식 사방댐 후면에 설치된 원통형 대책구조물의 배치조건이 토석류의 충격하중에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of cylindrical baffle arrays behind a rigid barrier on debris flow behavior and dynamic impact load. Small-scale tests were performed with various transverse blockage ratios and row numbers of baffles. High-speed cameras were installed at the flume's top and side, and load cells were installed in front of the rigid barrier. Moreover, glass beads simulated large boulders with debris flow in the flume. Test results revealed that the impact load of debris flow on the rigid barrier was significantly reduced using the cylindrical baffles behind the rigid barrier. In addition, the increased transverse blockage ratio of baffle arrays led to a greater impact load of debris flow because of flow suppression due to the baffle arrays.

  • A numerical program has been developed to model 2-D resistivity responses for a pole-pole array configuration in cross-hole resistivity measurements. Apparent resistivity and secondary potential were computed using the program for a cylindrical inhomogeneity in an uniform host medium excited by a point source of current in a borehole. Surprisingly apparent resistivity in the receiver hole turns out to be lower than the one of surrounding medium regardless of the conductivity of cylindrical inhomogeneity. Using only cross-hole data, therefore, it is impossible to interpret the conductivity of inhomogeneity. To overcome this problem, 3-D measurement and interpretation are necessary. If 3-D data acquisition is impossible, inline data should be used to get the information about the conductivity of inhomogeneity.

  • 임의의 매질에서 음파의 전파는 매질의 고유물성 및 구조적 특성에 영향을 받게 된다. 본 연구는 의공학에서 관심을 가지는 골다공증 진단의 기초 물리적 음향 특성을 이해함에 목적을 두고 있다. 따라서 구조적 특성의 중요한 요소인 매질의 다공성에 초점을 두고 있으며, 비강체의 다공성 물질로써 루사이트 판에 원통 형태의 관을 균일하게 배열시켰고 이 관들의 배열을 다공성 구조로 간주하였다. 다공도는 본 연구에서 의미 있는 범위, 약 $0\%-30\%$에 제한하였으며, 다공도에 따른 음향 특성 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 다공도의 차이를 두었고, 관의 직경에 따른 음향 특성 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 같은 다공도와 두 종류의 관의 크기를 갖는 다공성 루사이트를 제작하였다. 실험은 수중에서 음파의 입사각에 대한 의존도를 배제하기 위하여 수직 입사에 대하여 수행하였고 사용된 주파수는 880kHz이다. 다공도 및 관의 크기의 변화에 따른 음파의 투과 계수의 변화를 관측하여 다공도 및 관의 크기의 변화에 따른 음향특성 변화의 상관 관계를 고찰함으로써 골다공증 진단에의 응용 가능성을 연구하였다.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Arrangement of Cylindrical Countermeasures on Debris Flow Impact Load (원통형 대책구조물의 배치조건에 따른 토석류의 충격하중에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, to investigate the effect of the array of cylindrical baffles on debris flow impact load, a series of small-scale tests were conducted according to varying row numbers of installed baffles in the flume. After the test, the behavior of debris flow interacting with baffles during the flow process was investigated. Based on the results, the influence varying velocity and flow depth on Froude number and dynamic pressure coefficient were analyzed. Test results showed that the greatest peak impact load occurred at the second row of baffle arrays. The dynamic pressure coefficient was also estimated by suggested equation and compared with previous studies.

A Study on the Cylindrical Microstrip Antenna for ISM Band Applications (ISM 대역용 원통형 마이크로스트립 안테나에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the antenna was proposed for the omni-directional characteristic in horizontal plane. Therefore we proposed $1{\times}4$ microstrip patch array on cylindrical surface for studying microstrip patch antennas. This antenna is designed for 2.45GHz ISM band and applications. This antenna can be applied to the base station of wireless microphone and access point of wireless LAN. The length and width of the patch antenna and the width of the feed line were calculated by using the theory of microstrip patch antenna, by using the both the 2.5D and 3D EM simulators the optimized antenna characteristics are obtained. From result of measured, antenna's impedance of coaxial waveguide port was 51.915-j3.688 ${\Omega}$, the return loss was -31dB and VSWR was 1.081.
