CIVE: Context-based Interactive System for Heterogeneous Distributed Virtual Environments (이기종 분산 가상 환경을 위한 컨텍스트 기반 상호작용 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose CIVE, context-based interactive system for heterogeneous distributed virtual environments that delivers contexts irom real world to virtual environment and vice versa. The proposed system ronsists of obi-UCAM for generating user's contexts, NAVER for managing virtual environment, and Interface for linking obi-UCAM with NAVER. The connection between real and virtual worid through context is brneficial in following ways. Firstly. CIVE Provides a personalized user interface for virtual environment according to a user profile such as identity, age and vernacular. Secondly, translating all input signals into context, it guarantees adaptive access that enables a user to exploit unencumbered input devices controlling a shared object in virtual environment even if he moves with his own device from a virtual system to another. Finally, it provides a mechanism for synchronizing distributed virtual systems that share context representing changes at remote nodes. The context reduces the inconsistency of representing the same data among heterogeneous systems. Therefore, CIVE plays an important role in implementing VR applications such as teleconference, game and entertainment.

  • A fabricated hybrid control board using multi-communication is designed with a low power 8-bit microcontroller, ATxmega128A1. The microcontroller consists of 8 UART (Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter) ports, 2 kbytes EEPROM, 128 kbytes flash memory, 8 kbytes SRAM. The 8 URAT ports are used for a multi-communication modem, a GPS module, etc. The EEPROM is used for saving a configuration for running programs, and the flash memory of 128 kbytes is used for storing a F/W (Firm Ware), and the 8 kbytes SRAM is used for stack and for storing memory of global variables while running programs. If we use the multi-communication of CDMA, TRS and RF to remotely control Aid to Navigation, it is able to remove the communication shadow area. Even though there is a shadow area for an individual communication method, we can select an optimal communication method. The compatibility of data has been enhanced as using of same data frame per communication device. For the test, 8640 of data have been collected from each buoy during 30 days in every 5 minutes and the receiving rate of the data has shown more than 85 %.

  • This paper begin a new approach in the water-gate control using radio communication. The dissertation is on the controllable device development of water-gate in the remote distance from water-gate trough the transceiver by radio communication. The proposed water-gate control device is simpe in structure, an suitable for implementation of water-gate control in the remote distance. The remote controller water-gate device inspected the up and down motion of water-gate through the LCD displayer, so that it was very safety driving about the surroundings imformation, over loading and position of water-gate, and so on.

  • 사람들은 종종 시를 다투는 업무를 접할 때, 작업할 문서를 집이나 사무실에 두고 오는 실수를 범하는 경우가 있다. 이런 경우를 대비하여 항상 노트북을 준비한다거나, 항상 집에 사람을 대기시켜 놓고 필요할 때마다 심부름을 시킬 수는 없는 노릇이다. 그래서 요즘 노트북에서 PDA, 이동전화기 같은 매체들이 이동 중에도 업무를 할 수 있는 이점 때문에 이 분야에 많은 관심이 증가하고 있고, 사용되어진다. 어떻게 하면 PDA와 같은 제한된 사양에서 우리가 사용하고 있는 PC와 같은 성능을 발휘할 수 있을지, 효과를 극대화 하기 위하여 많은 Solution이 나오고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 인터넷을 이용하여 선이 있는 고정의 상태가 아닌, 이동중의 상황에서도 통신이 가능한 PDA의 특성을 활용하여 서로 다른 매체인 PC와 PDA를 사용한 상호 통신에 대한 것과, PC의 바탕화면 공유 및 입력장치 제어를 PDA에서 가능하게 하기 위한 방법을 제안한다.

  • This paper proposes a new impedance control scheme based on a variable stiffness matrix for a bilateraL teleoperation. In this scheme, stiffness matrix of the impedance model in the slave is modulated based on the distance, measured by an ultrasonic sensor, between the slave and environment. At the same time, the stiffness matrix of the master is also changed accordingly in order for the impedance parameters of the combined system to remain constant The proposed scheme is implemented on a 1-dof master/slave system to perform a simple task. In the experiments, the teleoperator with the impedance parameter modulation shows better performance than one with fixed impedance parameters, especially in reducing task execution time and in avoiding excessive external forces.

  • 최근 컴퓨터 비전 및 영상처리 분야에서 일련의 동영상으로부터 움직이는 객체를 검출하고 추적하는 시스템에 대한 관심이 점차 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 원격 제어에 의해 상하좌우 이동이 가능한 장치에 고정된 카메라를 이용하여 움직이는 단일 이동 객체를 추적할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 추적 시스템은 영상 획득 및 전처리 단계, 차영상 기법에 기반한 움직임 추정 단계와 추정된 중심점 좌표를 기준으로 카메라를 제어하는 추적 단계로 구성되어 있다. 구현된 이동 객체의 실시간 추적 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위해 사람이 보통의 속도로 실내에서 이동하는 환경에서 실시간 추적 실험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 객체를 잃어버리지 않고 정상적으로 추적할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, a simple idea is proposed to change the compliance center of the Remote Center Compliance (RCC) by adjusting the elasticity of the Elastomer Shear Pad (ESP). To vary the elasticity of the ESP, a hole is made in the ESP along its stiffness axis, and a stiffness adjusting rod (SAR) is inserted into the hole. By adjusting the insertion depth of the rod, lateral stiffness of the ESP can be varied, and the compliance center of the VRCC can be controlled accordingly. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed idea, a prototype VRCC is designed and, the position of the compliance center with various lengths of the inserted rod are measured.

  • In this paper a new remote control system for operating indoor gas(LPG) range safely based on PLM(Power Line Modem) and telephone is developed because it would make disasters of properties and lives by user's carelessness or worker's bad installation, etc. The system includes the following elements: a telephone line interface system for user to call from the outdoors to the indoors, a communication system using the power line as a communication media, a system of cutting off gas and a alarm system.

  • This paper has proposed a new-type groundwater auto-monitoring system based on Multi-Sensor Device. The system adopted Multi-Sensor Device as host computer of data acquisition, used Windows Mobile which was prevalent operation system of Multi-Sensor Device. It adopted serial port CAN and RS485 as the communication interface between goundwater sensor Device and monitor host machine and utilized serial-linked multi-sensor design to measure effectively according to the depth of groundwater. We present a design for a groundwater monitoring system based on a network of wirelessly linked sensors. The proposed solution will enable groundwater researchers and decision makers to have quick access to the groundwater data with less effort and cost. Though our design is initially meant for groundwater monitoring, it can be easily adapted to other fields of environmental monitoring.

  • We have recently studied the application of Information Technology to agricultural industry for competitive power. Because the big stockyards are far away from the house, we need a realtime monitering and control system to manage it efficiently. This paper presented design and implementation for a realtime monitering and controlling system that we can use to watch an movement of an electronic devices in the stockyards. Compared to other systems, we have more trust in our system by confirming an operation of devices through a realtime video streaming.
