연명의료결정법의 정식 명칭은 '호스피스 완화의료 및 임종 과정에 있는 환자의 연명의료 결정에 관한 법'이다. 이 법은 호스피스 완화의료에 대한 것과 환자의 연명의료 결정에 대한 것을 규정하고 있다. 특히, 후자의 연명의료결정에 관한 부분은 법제정 과정에서 법 종교 의료 윤리 등 다양한 분야에서 논박이 있었지만 2018년 2월 4일부터 시행되고 있다. 법학에서는 이 법이 생명이라는 법익과 관련되어 있어 형사법적, 민사법적으로 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이 법이 탄생되기 위해 두 번의 변곡점이 있었다. 첫째, 1997년 '보라매병원 사건'에서 의사를 작위에 의한 살인방조죄로 판결한 사건 둘째, 2009년 '김 할머니' 사건에서 회생할 수 없을 경우 가족 등이 진술한 환자 의사에 따라 연명 의료를 중단할 수 있다는 대법원 판결이다. 연명의료결정법은 헌법상 생명권과 자기운명결정권이라는 기본권 충돌이 발생한다. 두 기본권이 서로 상충 할 때에는 어떠한 기본권을 우선해야 하는지가 실질적으로 문제되는데, 이익형량을 통한 규범의 조화로운 해석을 통해 해결해야 한다. 또한 이 법의 흠결과 문제점을 고찰하여 개정작업이 진행되어야 한다.

Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian (and the Border Trilogy) can be used as a touchstone with which the limit of American literature is tested. For his text is particularly significant in the sense that its language mixes English with Spanish; its characterization confronts Americans with non-Americans; and its narrative structure traverses the geographical and symbolic borderlands between America and Mexico. In this sense, his novels deserve to be reexamined under the rubric of Chicano/a Studies, Hemispheric American Studies, transnationalism, etc. Rereading McCarthy's Blood Meridian, this paper attempts to rethink its historical complexity in relation to Manifest Destiny, focusing on the border-crossing motifs of filibustering and scalp-hunting. For this purpose, I pay due and careful attention to the ways in which the ideology of Manifest Destiny was created, circulated, and manipulated among the 19th century American expansionists and border-crossing agents. Of course, my discussion does not omit the significance of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands in the contemporary Chicano/a Studies and Hemispheric American Studies. In these historical and interdisciplinary contexts, I investigate how the 19th century filibusters like Captain Smith and his followers fall prey to the imperial practice of Manifest Destiny. I would also interrogate whether and how the Glanton Gang's scalp trade is involved in the capitalist desire of Manifest Destiny.

The posthumanism, as it is discussed in several areas of the humanities, calls the modern humanist concept of autonomous subject into question. The scientific psychology has been since its birth as independent discipline at the 19th century a 'posthuman psychology' in the sense that there has been always humanistic approaches to humans as autonomous beings on the one hand, and natural-scientific approaches to humans as determined beings on the other hand. I have argued that the concept of autonomous subject makes still sense as a regulating principle of everyday life of purposive agents and as a conceptual framework for interpreting causal knowledges about humans. And I have argued that culture and cultural education should play an important role in reflecting on the meaning and rationality of sciences and technologies.

The present study was examined the expression patterns of cdx2 gone, n lineage marker, in the mouse and bovine developmental stage embryos and whether one blastomere of two- and/or four-cell bovine embryos develop to specific lineage (ICM or TE) of blastocyst by injection of Texas red conjugated dextran as a lineage tracer. It was also investigated the allocation of ICM and n cells in bovine blastocysts derived from one blastomere of two-and/or four-cell stage embryos. Firstly, it was observed that expression of cdx2 appeared symmetric and asymmetric distribution at the two-cell stage mouse embryos. from four-cell to morula stage mouse embryos, the expression of cdx2 gene was observed in almost all blastomeres. In case of bovine embryos, localization of cdx2 was similar to pattern of mouse embryos. The Dextran-labeled blastomere of two- and/or four-cell embryos contributed to both ICM and TE cells in bovine blastocysts. And also, it was confirmed that a single blastomere derived from two-cell stage bovine embryos could develop to the normal blastocyst with both ICM and TE cells. These results show that two-and/or four-cell stage is not the specific stage to determine the cell rate for ICM and TE, and which is not correlated with the expression of cdx2 gene.

This paper tried to interpret new phenomenon in the narrative focusing on the tale. People telling about this story understood it in the way of recognizing and resigning the power of powerful destiny. This article poses a problem to that point. The male character begins the question "why?" And experiences a process of thoughtful thought. And he finds out his past life and pioneers his destiny. The find past life in this tale, it means 'an opportunity to choose oneself and life for themselves'. This can be interpreted as Samsara of Buddhism that does not insist on a fixed self. Experience of this process of reasoning according to narrative context of folktale will become literary therapy activity confirming the effectiveness of marital conflict narrative including the former motifs.

어느 나라보다 공동체 인식의 바탕에 형성된 네덜란드 집합주택은 엄격한 가톨릭 정신과 자연을 극복해야만 하는 절박한 운명이 네덜란드인을 하나로 묶으면서 동시에 집합주택이 도시미를 형성하는 중요한 요소로 인식하는 계기가 되었다. 이러한 네덜란드인의 기본정신 위에 발전된 집합주택은 이념을 달리 하는 다양한 건축운동, 건축가의 의지와 실험정신 그리고 예술가와 건축가의 협력 등이 모태가 되어 생성되었다. 역자가 몇 번에 걸쳐 연재할 흐린베르흐의 저서, 'Housing in The Netherlands 1900~1940' (Delft University Press/1982)을 통하여, 네덜란드 근대집합주택을 '근대'라는 기능적이고 합리적인 시점만이 아닌 도시미와 커뮤니티 그리고 선단적인 집합주거 공간을 파악하는 주요한 단서로서 기대하고자 한다.

어느 날 문득 찾아온 당뇨병이라는 몹쓸 병에 많은 이들이 분노, 좌설, 스트레스, 우울을 경험한다. 당뇨병관리를 건강하게 잘하고 있는 사람들을 보면 심리적으로 안정돼 있으면서 보다 즐거운 인생을 살아가고 있고, 또 어떤 이들은 병을 인생의 한 일부분으로서 인정하고 발판삼아 전보다 더 나은 건강한 삶을 살고 있다. 이들 역시 처음부터 당뇨병을 운명이라 생각하고 순응한 것은 아닐 것이다. 당뇨병을 진단받은 후 느끼는 여러 심리상태는 부적절한 것이 아니라 자연스러운 과정이라 봐도 무방하다. 힘든 시기를 잘 이겨내고 헤쳐나간다면 당뇨병이라는 거대한 산을 정복할 수 있다. 아프다고 해서 언제까지 주저앉아 있을 것인가?

'혹한의 동토에는 봄은 오는가' 올 한해 독자 곁으로 찾아갈 책의 운명을 생각하면 가장 먼저 떠오르는 질문이다. 아직도 그 파괴력이 고갈되지 않은 IMF의 위기는 출판인들의 머리에서 떠나지 않는 망령이다. 하지만 이제 출판계는 내성의 시간을 지나 조용히 전열을 가다듬고 있다. 각 출판사들의 기획안을 살펴보면 해동의 기미가 뚜렷이 느껴진다. 우선 몇몇 출판사의 대형 기획물이 출판시장에 모닥불을 피울 것으로 보인다. 한국의 전통문화에 대한 탐구가 심화되고 인문학에서 정신분석학의 활약이 눈부실 전망이다. 대중문학이 여전히 득세할 것이지만 순수문학계도 중견작가들의 저력이 돋보일 것이다. 새로운 천년의 갈림길에 선 한국사회에서 소장파 지식인들의 준엄한 반성과 성찰이 우리 사회에 날카로운 메스를 가한다.

350만 농민들의 거센 반발에도 불구하고 11월 23일 오후 3시 12분, 쌀 협상 국회 비준안이 국회 본회의를 통과하였다. 이에 한농연 등 주요 농민단체들은 쌀 협상 국회 비준 통과를 강력하게 규탄하며, 농업 회생의 근본 대책 수립 촉구 및 총력 대응 방침을 천명하고 있다. 특히 11월 11일 이후 정용품 · 오추옥 · 한상민 농민의 음독 자결 이후 경찰의 폭력 진압으로 전용철씨가 운명하면서, 참여정부와 정치권의 총체적인 농정 실패를 규탄하는 현장 농민들의 분노가 더욱 높아지고 있는 상황이다. 이번 월간 한농연 12월호에서는 △쌀 협상 국회 비준 통과 내용 및 향후 절차 △쌀 협상 국회비준의 문제점을 알아보고 △한농연의 요구사항 및 향후 대응 계획 등을 살펴본다.

21세기 최첨단 산업의 고도화 발전으로 국민들의 생활 수준은 크게 향상되었고 대학 및 각 연구기관의 연구 노력은 국가 경쟁력 강화에 크게 기여하여 왔다. 반면 신기술 고도화에 따른 연구 실험실에서 사용되는 신물질이 갖고 있는 성분도 새로운 양상의 잠재 위험으로 내존 하게 되었다 특히 각 연구 실험실의 연구활동은 특수성을 갖고 있어 연구기관이나 기업의 장래운명에 좌우되는 시간 다툼과 기밀 유지에 폐쇄적이어서 상호정보 교류가 어려운 실정이고, 더욱이 연구원들이 갖고 있는 자부심에 비해 안전에 관한 관심도나 의식이 낮은 상태에서 연구 실험 활동이 추진되어 오고 있다.(중략)
