  • There is true that the evaluation of non-face-to-face swimming classes currently offered by universities due to the COVID-19 outbreak is generally negative. For this reason, the quality of non-face-to-face swimming classes at universities is bound to depend on the expertise of the instructor. However, whether or not of students who lack of practices of swimming could experience exercise flow and could continuously last the swimming exercise after semester or even graduation is difficult to confirm. This is considered to be a significant threat in the future not only for swimming, but also for all liberal arts and lifestyle sports. This study aimed at 281 non-athletic college students with experience of taking both swimming classes, and the need for a study on the structural relationship between exercise flow and participation intention by university swimming class leaders' expertise in non-sports majoring college students. And the results were empirically analyzed. The research results derived in this process are summarized as follows. First, the effect of swimming class leader's expertise (personality, lecture skills, student management, practical skills, basic knowledge) perceived by non-athletic college students on exercise flow (cognitive flow, behavior flow) affects cognitive flow. As a factor influencing, it was found that lecture skills had a statistically positive (+) effect, and as factors influencing behavioral commitment, the positive (+) effect was statistically significant in personality, lecture skills, student management, and basic knowledge. Second, as for the effect of exercise commitment (cognitive commitment, behavior commitment) perceived by non-athletic college students on continuous participation intention, the behavioral commitment factor was found to have a statistically positive (+) effect.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between self-efficacy and adherence of aquatic exercise in patients with chronic arthritis. Subjects were 54 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis who had participated in the 6-week aquatic exercise program. The results indicated that the relationship between self-efficacy and aquatic exercise adherence in patients with chronic arthritis was statistically significant. A significant difference of self-efficacy was found between adherers and non-adherers and self-efficacy of adherer was higher than that of non-adherer(t=5.21, p=.000). Self-efficacy was significantly associated with the total duration of an aquatic exercise adherence(r=.44, p=.001). Based on these results, self-efficacy was the important factor which affect adherence of aquatic exercise in patients with chronic arthritis. Further study was suggested to identify the relationships among self-efficacy, exercise barrier and other possible factors.

Data was collected from march 25 to April 25, 1999 through face to face and telephone interview. Result are as follows. Fourteen subjects(26.0%) were adherer who was keeping aquatic exercise. The reasons of aquatic exercise adherence were improvements of physical and affectional factors. And the major reasons of dropout was an environment factors(65.8%) and second reasons was physical factors(34.2%). Participants of friends(r=.34, p=.014) was significantly associated with the total duration of an aquatic exercise adherence. • While the short term effect of diet and exercise therapy has been proven, there has still been a problem of its long term effect. So, researchers has utilized behaviour modification therapy. It is expected to lead to natural weight loss by modifying wrong dietary life patterns and practices. However, this approach has turned out to be a more effective method for weight maintenance than loss of weight. In spite of its strength, as a matter of fact, persistent and continuous effort for weight management has not worked properly. This study proposes an artificial intelligence approach with the advantages of behaviour modification therapy, overcoming current approaches which is goal-driven and too uniform. For this, we plan to develop a health management program in which users get the messages that are customized for themselves according to different situations so that it can promotes persistent effort for exercise. Here, customized messages are handled by AI techniques, which eventually promotes soft persuasion, encouragement, and motivation.
