Link Margin Analysis on Telemetry for KSLV-I Launch (KSLV-1 발사를 위한 원격측정신호 Link Margin 분석)

  • Telemetry data is very important for the Launch Mission and Flight Safety Control during the Space Launch. In Naro Space Center, several telemetry stations such as a small station in the NARO space center, two stations in Jeju and a downrange station on a ship are deployed for the stable acquisition/receiving of the telemetry signals. In this paper, the Link Margin and Reliability for the telemetry are analyzed to evaluate the probability of the signal receiving of each station. Even though the proper analysis is to using the on-board EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiation Power) values in the direction of the ground station considering the predicted flight trajectory and the locations of the stations, the global EIRP of 95% spatial coverage has been used for the analysis, due to the limitation of the available data.

High-Altitude Environment Simulation of Space Launch Vehicle in a Ground-Test Facility (지상시험장비를 통한 우주발사체 고공환경모사 기법 연구)

  • The experimental research on a high-altitude environment simulation of space launch vehicle is important for securing independent technologies with launching space vehicles and completing missions. This study selected an altitude of 65 km for the experiment environment where it exceeded Mach number of 6 after the launch of Korean Space Launch Vehicle(KSLV-II). Shock tunnel was used to replicate the flight condition. After flow establishment, in order to confirm aerodynamic characteristics and normal and oblique shockwaves, the flow verification was carried out by measuring stagnation pressure and heat flux of a forebody model, and shockwave stand-off distance of a hemispherical model. In addition, a shock-free technique to recover free-stream condition has been developed and verified. From the results of the three verification tests, it was confirmed that the flow was replicated with the error of about ${\pm}3%$. The error between the slope angle of inclined shockwave of the scaled down transition section model using the shock-free shape and the slope angle of the horizontal plate model, and between the theoretical and the experimental value of the static pressure of the model were confirmed to be 2% and 1%, respectively. As a result, the efficiency of the shockwave cancellation technique has been verified.

  • A program that predicts trajectories of projectiles influenced by the interference flow field of helicopters is developed. The interference flow field are computed using a compressible inviscid solver in conjunction with an actuator disc model. The trajectories are predicted using 6-DOF (Degree of Freedom) equations as well as an alternative form of modified point mass equations of motion. The method for the interference flow field prediction method are validated with ROBIN(ROtor Body INteraction) model. A Sierra international bullet and a 105mm projectile are used to validate the trajectory method. Trajectories of a Sierra International bullet and a HYDRA 70 rocket firing from a helicopter are predicted.

  • The purpose of international cooperation for launch vehicle between Ukraine and Brazil was to launch Ukraine's Cyclone-4 launch vehicles at the Alcantara cosmodrome in Brazil. Ukraine and Brazil have prepared this cooperation since 1999 and established a joint venture. However, the first launch has been postponed several times. Because it took a lot of time and efforts to negotiate, sign and ratify the cooperation agreement and to regulate the protection of technology transfer to the third countries. Thus, the administrative affairs and diplomatic steps as well as the technical matters should be considered to prepare international cooperation for launch vehicles.

  • 본 논문에서는 나로호(KSLV-I) 비행상태의 실시간 감시를 목적으로 국내에서는 처음 개발된 우주센터 원격수신자료전시시스템(EDS)의 구축과 운용을 소개한다. EDS는 우주센터 발사통제시스템의 주요 시스템 중 하나이고 그 역할은 위성발사체의 비행에 중대한 영향을 주는 주요정보(QLM)와 궤적정보(TSPI)를 수신하여 실시간으로 처리함으로써 탑재 서브시스템별 전문가들이 위성발사체의 비행 상태를 감시할 수 있도록 지원하는 것이다. EDS는 3회에 걸친 나로호 비행시험에서 그 역할에 따라 매회 8대가 운영되었으며 임무를 성공적으로 수행하였다. 본 시스템을 기반으로 추후 발전된 형태의 한국형발사체(KSLV-II) 비행상태의 실시간 감시시스템의 구축이 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

  • For a GPS antenna to normally receive GPS satellite signals during full flight mission of a satellite launch vehicle, it should be installed on skin of the vehicle. The surface of a launch vehicle is drastically heated up due to aerodynamic heating effect during flight, so that the GPS antenna mounted on surface of the launch vehicle is directly exposed to extremely hot temperature environment. Hot temperature test specification of the GPS antenna, therefore, is severer than inner components. This paper describes that procedures and results of performance analysis of the GPS antenna for KSLV-I under hot temperature environment. The GPS antenna was not deformed physically and inner LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) operated normally without performance degradation.

  • 천리안 위성은 4개 정부 부처 공동 사업으로, 통신 서비스, 해양 기상 관측 서비스 제공을 목적으로 개발된 복합 위성으로, 그중 통신 서비스를 담당하는 통신 탑재체는 방송통신위원회 출연으로 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)가 주관, 개발하여 성공한 순수 국산 개발품으로, 위성 발사 성공 후 시험 검증을 거쳐 현재 정상 운용 중에 있다. 우주 인증 획득을 목적으로 개발한 통신 탑재체는 위성 스위칭 중계기와 다중 빔 안테나로 구성되었으며, 구성 부품들인 능동 부품과 수동 부품들은 대부분 국내 연구진에 의해 설계, 제작 시험 검증되어 중계기 및 안테나 시스템 종합화, 통신 탑재체 및 위성체 우주 환경 시험을 성공적으로 수행되었다. 위성 발사 성공 후에, 정지 궤도상에서의 통신 탑재체 궤도내 시험을 완료를 통해 순수국산 개발된 통신 탑재체의 설계 제작 기술에 대한 정지 궤도 우주환경에서도 정상 동작됨을 입증하였다. 통신 탑재체는 다양한 우주 조건에서의 다양한 기술 확보와 차세대 멀티미디어 위성 서비스 개발에 활용하고자 한다. 본 논문은 통해기 통신 탑재체 설계 제작 시험 기술을 소개하고, 활용 계획에 대해 언급하고자 한다.

  • FIMS(Far-Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph)는 2003년에 발사된 과학 위성 1호의 주탑재체이다. FIMS는 우주의 고온 플라즈마에서 방출되는 원적외선(900-1750$\AA$) 영역을 2$\AA$의 분해능을 갖고 관측하는 기기로써 관측 영역의 범위는 선택된 천문학 target과 지구 북반구의 aurora에서 지구 대기의 glow까지 포함하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 위성발사 후 과학 위성 1호의 FIMS로부터 관측되어 내려온 data 중에서 aurora 관측 자료를 이용하여 aurora의 특성 spectrum에 대하여 분석해 보고자 한다. Performance Analysis of a Precise Explicit Guidance Algorithm for Space Launch Vehicles (우주발사체의 정밀한 외연적 유도 알고리듬 성능 분석)

  • This paper considers one of the explicit guidance algorithms, which has been proposed by Jaggers, to determine the closed-loop guidance algorithm for upper stages of a 3-staged space launch vehicle. Its commanded thrust vector is closer to the optimal solution when compared with that obtained by using the well-known Powered Explicit Guidance (PEG), which has been developed through the Space Shuttle program. Its performance is evaluated here by applying for guidance of the launcher during the second and third stages. Furthermore, to generate more precise guidance commands, it is attempted not to use the approximate formulas for the derivation of the original guidance law, and it is shown that performance is improved in comparison with the original.

  • During the Cold War, all space developments were focused on the performance only. However economy becomes more important for space development after the Cold War. There is a growing interest in reusable launch vehicle to secure the economic feasibility. In this paper, technology development prospects and direction of reusable launch vehicles and future propulsion systems of various countries are presented.
