The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the mental health and spiritual wellbeing of the wives of pastors by analyzing the influence of both negative and positive elements of mental health (depression and psychological wellbeing) and spiritual wellness. The findings of conducted survey and the analysis of its result on the 236 subjects to measure their psychological wellbeing, depression, and spiritual wellbeing are as follows: First, the verified result of the differences between depression, psychological wellness, and spiritual wellness depending on the demographic variables revealed that the satisfaction level of ministry uniquely showed a 5% level of significance. Second, depression showed a negative correlation with spiritual wellbeing, and a positive correlation with psychological wellbeing, which proves that rather than depression, psychological wellbeing possesses a greater influence on spiritual wellness. Third, a one-level increase of depression and psychological wellbeing had an influence on spiritual wellbeing by - 0.282 and 0.668 respectively. Lastly, the study categorized the subjects into two groups -- those who are satisfied with their ministry and those who are not -- to analyze the influence of the sub-factors of depression and psychological wellbeing on the sub-factors of spiritual wellness. As a result, both groups showed that depression had significant influence only on the existential wellbeing, while psychological wellbeing had an influence on both religious and existential wellbeing, and rather than depression, a negative state of mental health, a psychological wellbeing which is a positive state of mental health had a greater influence. The study also revealed that depression and psychological wellbeing had a greater influence on the group that is dissatisfied with their ministry than the group that is satisfied.

Food insecurity is associated with poor health outcomes. In particular, previous studies marked the adverse outcomes on mental health. This study examined the association of food insecurity and mental health in Korean adults using the data from the 2013 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). The study population was 5,685 adults in Korea. Food insecurity was examined using 18-items. A diagnosis of depression was considered to be depression. Depressive symptoms were defined as more than 2 weeks of depression feelings. Multivariate logistic regression models examined the associations between food insecurity and depression and depressive symptom. The overall prevalence of depression was 3.8% in the participants. Food insecurity was associated significantly with depression and depressive symptom in the unadjusted and age and sex adjusted model. Food insecurity was associated with depression, depressive symptoms in the multivariate logistic regression model (OR:3.49, OR:3.70). Marginal food insecurity was not associated with depression in the multivariate logistic regression model. The results showed that food insecurity is associated with depression and depressive symptoms in adults. Multi-disciplinary interventions are needed including nutrition, health, health policy, and a healthy environment for the food insecurity group to achieve a better health outcome, especially mental health.
This purpose of this study was to investigate self-esteem, body image and depression in infertile women and to identify factors influencing depression. There were statistically significant difference in self-esteem on variables such as age, education, occupation, pressure of treatment cost. There were statistically significant difference in body image on variables such as period of marriage, education, pressure of treatment cost. There were statistically significant difference in depression on variables such as age, education, family structure, pressure of treatment cost. Self-esteem was positively correlated with body image(r=.688, p=.000). Depression was negatively correlated with self-esteem(r=-.710, p=.000) and body image(r=-.526, p=.000). Factors influencing depression were self-esteem(b=-0.66, p=.000), Living with parents-in-law(b=-7.92, p=.001), and age over 40 years(b=-1.72, p=.033), which explained 63.5%.
This study aims to investigate the effects of social connectedness on depressive symptom focusing on the comparison between the rural and urban elderly. Data from 'Korean Social Life, Health and Aging Project: KSHAP' was used for analyzing. The analysis included 948 rural elderly and 982 urban elderly. The results showed that urban elderly's depressive symptom level was higher than rural elderly's. Depending on the subcomponent of social connectedness, there were differences in the influence on the urban and rural elderly's depressive symptom. It has been confirmed that only loneliness has affected urban elderly people, and that appraisal social support and loneliness have affected rural elderly people, and that belongingness social support has not been significant in both groups. Findings from this research have some implications for intervention endeavors in reducing depressive symptom of older people.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of social support, parenting stress, and subjective hapiness on the depression of working mothers who are raising their children and to investigate alternatives to reduce their depression, and provide a practical program based on the study. In this study, we used hierarchical regression analysis to examine the variables that affect the depression of the working mothers. The results of this study showed that in the first stage, support of family, which is a sub factor of social support has a negative effect on depression. In the second stage, parenting stress had a significant effect on the depression of the working mothers. In the third stage, subjective hapiness has a negative effect on the depression of the working mothers. The relationship between variables such as social support, parenting stress, and subjective hapiness of these mothers were revealed, and the implications of lowering the depression of mothers were discussed based on the result of this study.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the depression and death anxiety of The Elderly, to explore the moderate effect of self-esteem on those relationship and to suggest practical implications for social work services for those the elderly. Data for this study were collected through the use of a survey instrument completed by 146 samples over 60 years of age. Collected data were analysed by moderated multiple regression. The findings of this study were as follows: First, this study provided clear evidence that the depression was very important variable which affected on death anxiety of The Elderly. The purpose of this study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of self-esteem between attachment and depression in adolescents. The study specified theoretical assumptions based on internal working model and vulnerability model. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. A total of 2,058 adolescent data from 2015 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey was used in this study. The results showed parent attachment, peer attachment, and teacher attachment did not have direct effects on adolescent depression, but have indirect effects. Self-esteem had direct and mediating effect on depression. The implications were discussed in relation to interpersonal relationships and self-esteem of adolescents for depression prevention.
There are two competing models explaining the causal relationship of depression and self-esteem, and they are cognitive vulnerability model and the scar model. Cognitive vulnerability model explains that low self-esteem poses as a risk factor for development of depressive symptoms/depression while the scar model asserts that the experiences of depression scars the cognitive function of individuals, resulting in negative self-perception. This study was set out to test two models on Korean adults, and to identify factors that are associated with depression and self-esteem relationship. The first four waves (wave 1~4) of the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KOWEPS) were used for analyses, and latent growth curve modeling was employed to examine the relationship. The findings show that the relationship was reciprocal, one affecting the growth trajectory of another over a four year period. Furthermore, education, poverty status, health status, and satisfaction with social relationships were found to be significantly associated with both depression and self-esteem trajectories. Implications for practice and theory are provided.

This study aims to verify the structured relationship between college students' stress and their stress in the meditating depression and self-efficacy. Findings of the research are summarized as follows. The study looked into how stress would directly affect depression and self-efficacy. It was found that the stress would have immediate effects on depression and self-efficacy. In addition, it was noticed that stress indirectly influences college students' subjective happiness in meditating factors of depression and self-efficacy. After the investigation on the immediate effects of depression in relation to the self-efficacy, results of the study indicated that depression has an immediate negative influence on the self-efficacy. Self-efficacy appeared to affect subjective happiness positively and directly. However, its indirect effects on the subjective happiness was confirmed. Although the study failed to find any direct influence of the stress on subjective happiness, it was learned that stress causes an indirect effect through the meditating factors of depression and self-efficacy. In conclusion, the study suggests that subjective happiness can be improved by stress and depression relaxation, and improvement of self-efficacy.
