An Experimental Study of the Fatigue Specimen for the Typical Structural Details of the Steel Bridge (강교량의 표준적 구조상세에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper presents the results of the experimental and analytical investigation for the fatigue strength of welded details frequently used in steel bridges, especially for the details with relatively lower fatigue strength. The welded details included four kinds of welded details corresponding to the categories C, D, E and E' which represent the flange attachment details, web attachment details, transverse stiffeners and cover-plate details. Tensile fatigue tests were performed. The test results were compared with other available test results and the fatigue criteria of AASHTO, JSSC and Eurocode specifications. Generally, our test results were well agreed with other test results and satisfied with above-mentioned fatigue design provisions. However, it was found that transversely loaded weld-details showed lower fatigue strength than longitudinally loaded weld-details in transverse stiffener detail, and the test results of those details were not satisfied with AASHTO fatigue provisions. Examining the effect of length of gusset plate attachment details, welded details with longer attachment showed relatively lower fatigue strength, especially for the out-of-plane gusset plate details. It is recommended to perform additional fatigue tests with various loading and detail parameters and to establish the more detailed fatigue categories such as Eurocode or JSSC

  • In this study, the grinding and wet cyclone process of the dust for the effective separation of high purity iron powder and iron oxide were investigated. The results obtained in this study can be summarized as follows: 1. By applying the wet cyclone technique for the iron powder(+200 mesh) produced from EC dust of the Kwangyang 2nd steel making factory, the iron powder of high content more than 99.76% of Fe was obtained with 47.66% yield at grinding time of 5 minutes by attritor. 2. The particle size distribution of the iron powder recovered from converter dust is quite simillar with the iron powder of sweden Hoganas Co.(W40.24, W40.29, W40.37, W40.37OX). 3. By using iron powder, copper ions are all adsorbed and removed in any concentration ranges of copper sulfate solution(Cu:100, 200, 300, 600 ppm).

Impact Properties and Fractography of Structural Materials for LNG Tank at Cryogenic Temperatures (LNG 저장탱크용 재료의 극저온 충격특성과 파면해석)

  • In order to investigate the impact properties of structural materials for LNG tank, instrumented Charpy impact tests were carried out at cryogenic temperatures. $9\%$ Ni steel showed a superior fracture resistance because of less degradation in toughness until 77 K. From the load-deflection curve obtained by an instrumented methods it was found that with the decrease of temperature from 173 K to 77 K, the peak load in the curve increased, but the total absorbed energy decreased. In addition, the energy absorbed during the crack growth was larger than one absorbed in the process of crack initiation. In SUS304L material, the energy absorbed in the process of the crack initiation was relatively large, but the energy absorbed in the process of crack growth was small, the behavior of absorbed energy was well agreed with the observations of the fracture surface which showed a relatively smooth fracture surface. The absorbed Charpy impact energy in the case of A5083 alloy was lower as compared with other steels, and some cracks were observed along the crack propagation direction at the fracture surface of 77 K.

  • 국내에 건설되어 거의 20∼30년 가동되고 있는 발전설비, 석유화학 플랜트 등 거대설비 기기의 건전성(integrity) 및 신뢰성 확보와 잔존수명 예측을 위해서는 구조물 내부 또는 표층부에 존재하는 결 함의 특성을 아는 것과 함께 그 재료의 특정 부위에 어느정도의 응력이나 변형이 있는가를 아는 것이 매우 중요하다. 일반적으로 강 용접부의 비파괴적 결함검출에는 주로 SV파(vertically shear wave)와 SH파(horizontally shear wave)라 불리는 횡파를 이용한 초음파사각탐상법이 실용화되어 이용되고 있다. 그러나 비파괴적인 방법에 의한 실험적인 잔류응력 측정, 변형해석법에는 전기 저항 및 자기 스트레인 게이지법, X선회절법, 광탄성법(photoelasticity), 모아레(Mohr's)법, 레이저스펙클(Laser speackle)법, 응 력도료법, Barkhausen Nosise법, Caustics법 등이 제시되어 있으나 그 유용성 면에서는 아직 해결되야할 문제가 많이 남아 있는 실정이다. 응력이나 변형을 해석하는 방법으로 이론적 방법, 계산적 방법 실험적 방법이 잇다. 이론적 방법에는 재료 역학적으로 취급하는 방법, 탄성론 등이 있고, 계산적인 방법에는 유한요소법이 있지만, 이론적 방법이나 계산적 방법만으로는 해석이 불가능한 경우가 많기 때문에 실험 적 방법이 필요하게 된다. 이 글에서는 파괴 시험 또는 다른 비파괴평가기술에 비해 간편한 측정, 높은 측정정도, 시험결과 도출의 신속성, 검사비용의 절감 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있고 실험적으로 유용성이 일부 검증되고 있는 음탄성법(Acoustoelasticity)에 의한 잔류응력 측정법에 관해 소개하고자 한다.TEX> mg/L(평균 49 mg/L)로 비교적 안정적인 처리효율을 보여주었다. 본 연구결과 HVC 공정은 화학약품 사용량의 절감 및 이에 따른 화학슬러지 발생량의 감소를 기대 할 수 있는 친환경기술로 유지관리비를 최소화할 수 있는 장점이 있었다. 않은 사람들 중 미래의 검진실행의지에 건강소식지가 영향을 미친 경우는 48.7%였다. 보건교육을 받은 후 유방암 자가검진 실천율은 사업군에서 53.9%로 받기 전의 27.3%보다 증가하였으나 대조군의 경우는 별 차이가 없었다. 연령별로는 60대가 가장 높았고 사업군에서 검진율의 증가분은 30대가 가장 컸다. 교육수준별로는 사업군은 고졸이, 대조군은 전문대졸이 가장 높았고 사업군에서 검진율의 증가분은 고졸에서 가장 컸다. 보건교육 후 유방암과 관련된 건강지식의 정도는 사업군이 3.7점으로 대조군보다 유의하게 높았으며, 유방암 자가검진법을 실천하는 사람들의 동기는 ‘일반 대중매체의 영향’이 가장 많았으며 건강소식지가 동기인 경우도 20.4%였다. 사업군에서 건강소식지가 유방암 자가검진법 실천에 영향을 미친 경우가 79.6%였으며 유방암 자가검진법에 관한 보건교육을 받고 실천하지 않은 사람들 중 미래의 실천의지에 건강소식지가 영향을 미친 경우는 43.6%였다. 이상의 소견에서 지역주민을 대상으로 인쇄매체를 통한 보건교육은 인쇄물만으로도 쉽게 실천 할 수 있는 유방암 자가검진법이 가장 효과적이었으며, 자궁암검진에 관해서도 검진을 받을 수 있도록 지역사회의 보건의료의 하부구조를 정비하여 제도적 장치를 마련하고 정보를 제공한다면 자궁암검진 실천율도 증가할 것이다.고 12.9% 의 발달율을 보여 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 보아 핵이식 수정란을 효율적으로 생산하기 위하여

  • The concrete-filled tube column has the excellent structural performance. But it is difficult to connect with column and beam because of closed section. It suggests that pipe should be produced by welding two sides together where two shapes are joined after a channel is pre-welded onto the three sides in order to form an internal diaphragm. The upper diaphragm of the connection used the horizontal plate and the lower diaphragm used the Vertical plate. This research performed 6 monotonic tension experiments describing the connection upside and downside in order to evaluate the structural capability of the offered connection. And the cyclic loading experiment was performed about 2 T-Type column to beam connections. As to the experimental result edge cutting geometry, there was no big effect. An increase in the number of holes of the plate ultimate strength was increased by 5% and The thickness of the plate increases, the maximum strength was increased by 4%. T-Type connections until it reaches the plastic moment showed a stable behavior.

Structural Evaluation Method to Determination Safe Working Load of Block Handling Lugs (블록 이동용 러그의 안전사용하중 결정에 관한 구조 평가법)

  • To construct a ship, blocks of various sizes must be moved and erected . In this process, lugs are used such that they match the block fastening method and various functions suitable for the characteristics of each shipyard facility. The sizes and shapes of the lugs vary depending on the weight and shape of the block structures. The structure is reinforced by welding the doubling pads to compensate for insufficient rigidity around the holes where the shackle is fastened. As for the method of designing lugs according to lifting loading conditions, a simple calculation based on the beam theory and structural analysis using numerical modeling are performed. In the case of the analytical method, a standardized evaluation method must be established because results may differ depending on the type of element and modeling method. The application of this ambiguous methodology may cause serious safety problems during the process of moving and turning-over blocks. In this study , the effects of various parameters are compared and analyzed through numerical structural analysis to determine the modeling conditions and evaluation method that can evaluate the actual structural response of the lug. The modeling technique that represents the plate part and weld bead around the lug hole provides the most realistic behavior results. The modeling results with the same conditions as those of the actual lug where only the weld bead is connected to the main body of the lug, showed a lower ulimated strength compared with the results obtained by applying the MPC load. The two-dimensional shell element is applied to reduce the modeling and analysis time, and a safety working load was verified to be predicted by reducing the thickness of the doubling pad by 85%. The results of the effects of various parameters reviewed in the study are expected to be used as good reference data for the lug design and safe working load prediction.

Development of a Prestressed Plate Girder Forming Hybrid Sections of Hot-rolled H Beam and High-Strength Steel Plates (H형강과 고강도 강판으로 복합단면을 구성하는 프리스트레스트 플레이트거더의 개발)

  • Innovative prestressed steel plate girders were presented in this study. Hot-rolled H beams were loaded first, then relatively high-strengthsteel plates were welded on the top and bottom flanges of preloaded H beams. Finally, high prestressed plate (HiPP) girder was manufactured by simply releasing prestresses of rolled beams. To verify prestress distributions induced in this girder, the experimental study was conducted and some guidelines to manufacture these girders effectively were addressed. In addition, methods to determine the allowable bending stress of HiPP girders and to check welding stresses were addressed for design of temporary bridges. The efficiency and effectiveness of the present girder were demonstrated through design examples of temporary bridges adapting the prestress-induced girder or the plate girder of the same section without prestresses. As a result, it has been found to be possible that the span length of HiPP girders for temporary bridges is longer than that of girders without prestresses.

  • It has been well known that ductile fracture of steel is accelerated by triaxiality stresses. The characteristics of ductile crack initiation in steels are evaluate quantitatively using two-parameter criterion based on equivalent plastic strain and stress triaxiality. Recently, the characteristics of critical crack initiation of steels are quantitatively estimated using the two-parameter, that is, equivalent plastic strain and stress triaxiality, criterion. This study is paid to the fundamental clarification of the effect of geometrical heterogeneity and strength mismatching, which can elevate plastic constraint due to heterogeneous plastic straining, and loading rate on critical condition to initiate ductile crack using two-parameter. Then, the crack initiation testing were conducted under static and dynamic loading. To evaluate the stress/strain state in the specimens especially under dynamic loading, thermal elastic-plastic dynamic FE-analysis considering the temperature rise was used. The result showed that the critical global strain to initiate ductile fracture in specimens with strength mismatch under various loading rate cu be estimated based on the local criterion, that is two-parameter criterion obtained on homogeneous specimens under static tension, by mean of FE-analysis taken into account accurately both strength mismatch and dynamic loading effects on stress/strain behavior.

Acoustic Emission Testing in Cylindrical-Type Storage Tank (원통형 저장탱크의 음향방출시험)

  • In order to investigate the structural defects of a cylindrical-type toluene storage tank, we carried out the acoustic emissions. The storage tank was manufactured with high strength steel in 1978 and its's first and second courses from bottom were entirely repaired, recently. Acoustic emissions were monitored with real time according to load sequences in the $75{\~}84\%$ level range of maximum allowable load. Our results show a non-genuine acoustic emissions as well as a genuine characteristics. The pseudo emissions considered as valve noises were transiently occurred on shut-off processes of inlet valve regardless of water loading. The acoustic emission events occurred during water filling phase were estimated due to defects, and in the $75{\~}84\%$ test load level no evidences of defect growth were observed. Those defects were ascertained as weld cracks and porosities through the post radiography testing conducted near active sensors.

밀폐형 압축기의 소음진동에 대한 연구 예와 시급한 연구과제에 관하여

  • 압축기의 종류는 크게 dynamic type과 positive displacement type으로 우선 나눌 수 있다. 전자는 제트엔진에 사용되는 압축기에서 보는 바와 같이 기체의 속도를 변화시켜 동압을 정압으로 바꾸어 압력을 얻는 경우이다. 후자는 기체를 둘러싼 체적을 줄여서 압력을 얻는데 가전제품에 쓰이는 냉각용 압축기의 대부분의 종류가 이에 해당된다. 압축 기체의 종류에 따라 공기 압축기, 가스 압축기, 냉각용 압축기로도 나눌 수 있겠다. 냉각용 압축기는 다시 여러 가지 방법으로 분류할 수 있겠지만, 구동 모타의 용량이나 냉각 용량에 따라, 대형, 소형으로 분류하거나, 압축기를 둘러싼 셀의 구조에 따라 밀폐형과 반 밀폐형으로 나눌 수 있다. 밀폐형은 냉매를 반 영구적으로 보충할 필요가 없도록 용접형 셀을 가진 구조로 압축기를 다시 열어서 보수할 수가 없다. 냉장고나 냉방기 같은 가전 제품에 쓰이는 압축기는 대부분 소형 밀폐형이 되겠다. 산업용의 중,대형 압축기는 보수의 목적으로, 자동차 냉방용 압축기는 동력이 엔진축에서 공급되는 구조 상의 이유로 반 밀폐형이 채택된다. 보수가 사실상 불가능한 밀폐형의 구조 상 소형 냉장용 압축기는 거의 무한 수명을 감안한 설계를 요하게 되고, 이것이 압축기의 보수적인 설계 및 개발 성향에 어느 정도 영향을 주었다고 볼 수 있다. 이런 소형 밀폐형 압축기(positive displacement, fractional horsepower, hermetic compressor)에 관한 연구의 소개가 이 글의 주 관심이 되겠다. 압력을 얻기 위해 체적을 변화시키는 mechanism도 여러 가지가 있는 바, 왕복동식 피스톤(reciprocating piston) 압축기가 가장 오랫동안 사용되어 온 구조이다. 회전식으로 압축을 얻는 방식으로는 로타리 피스톤식, 스크류식, 스크롤식 압축기가 있다. 로타리 피스톤(rotary piston)식 압축기는 약 20여년 전 부터 냉방용 압축기에서부터 널리 쓰이게 되었다. 약 10여년전부터 상용화 된 스크롤(scroll) 형 압축기도 현재 상대적으로 용량이 큰 가정용 냉방기를 중심으로 많이 쓰이고 있다. 스크류형 압축기는 보통 중대형 상업용에 주로 쓰인다.
