  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to find out which method was efficient to enhance the flexibility of lower back between PNF(proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) and hamstring stretching. Method : subject were 20 young people between the ages 20 and 25. subjects were randomly assigned to one of 2groups; PNF(n=10), static(n=10). respective group received the same stretching does of 3days per week for 4weeks. Trunk flexion forward a measuring instrument and tapeline were performed to measurement the flexibility of lower back at different times(before starting the exercise, 4weeks after starting). Results : The results of the study were as follows: The lower back flexibility was increased significantly in PNF groups. PNF, static groups showed meaningful defference in trunk flexion forward. The finding indicate that PNF may be preferred technique for improving flexibility and that flexibility training results in on increased consistency of flexibility scores.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effect of trunk stabilization exercise upon the lumbar stabilization and foot pressure on an unstable surface with back pain. Methods: The subjects of the study were 10 patients who showed the symptom of back pain with excessive lumbar curve. This study was 4 weeks, 30 minutes per session, three times a week for a total of 12 times as a result of exercise radiation imaging device and foot pressure analyzer. Results: The sacrohorizontal angle was statistically significant(p<0.05). Comparison of the difference between static right and left foot pressure ratio analysis was statistically significant(p<0.05). Dynamic right and left foot pressure comparisons for the difference was statistically significant in the analysis (p<0.05). Conclusion: Trunk stabilization exercise and the reduction of the excessive sacrohorizontal angle, and static and dynamic foot pressure imbalance reduced left and right.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effects of lumbar stabilization exercise on static and dynamic balance performance with unstable supporting surface and an even surface. Methods : The subjects of this experimental study were 30 patients among hospitalized stroke patients. They were randomly divided into two groups: unstable supporting surface group(USS; n=15) and an even surface group(ES; n=15). The lumbar stabilization exercise program for patients in two groups went through 40 minute exercise sessions three times a week for 8 weeks. To analyze the effects of a variety of supporting surface, Functional reaching test(FRT), Berg's balance scale(BBS), and Overall stability index(static balance) were measured before and after the exercise. The paired t-test was used to compare mean differences between before and after exercis and the independent t-test was used to compare mean differences between groups. Results : After 8 weeks exercise program, there were significant differences between before and after exercise in FRT, BBS, and static balance. But there were not significant differences in balance between two groups. Conclusion : This study suggest that lumbar stabilization exercise on unstable supporting surface and an even surface can improve FRT, BBS, and a static balance.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Swiss ball lumbar stabilization exercise on the strength and flexibility, balance for the subjects. 30 university students who aged an average $23.21{\pm}4.41$ years. Methods : The exercise program lasted for 4 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week within 12 to RPE. The result was analyzed by case study were measured by sit-up for strength, and back muscle strength, and trunk flexion test and trunk extension lifting for flexibility, and also measured by balance test before and during, and after the Swiss ball exercise program. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS/Win(15.0) version and t-test. Results : By the result of this study, we found that the number of performing sit-up strength was increased, and back muscle strength was increase, and trunk flexion test and trunk extension lifting was increased after the 4 weeks Swiss ball exercise program. Conclusion : These finding indicate that Swiss ball lumbar stabilization exercise using Swiss ball could be beneficial to the subjects. The effect of increasing strength and flexibility, balance was flexibility.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the effects of lumbar stabilization exercise and lower extremity strengthening program on pain, lower extremity muscle in patients with chronic low back pain. Method: The subject were randomly divided two groups. 15 people who were conducted lower extremity exercises and lumbar stabilization exercises called the combined exercise group and other(15 people) who were only conducted lower extremity exercise group. The assessment tools were the pain level and the led muscle power. Exercise was conducted for eight weeks. Result: Pain of the combined exercise group showed significant differences in the change in pain level(p<.05). The leg muscle power showed significant differences within group which hip flexor, extensor muscles and abductor muscles. there were significant differences within combined exercise group (p<.05). But the knee joint in each group showed a significant difference within group (p<.05). Conclusion: This study suggest that the lumbar stabilization exercises and lower extremity exercises showed more efficient results in the pain levels and leg muscles power than only the lower extremity exercise for patients with lumbar instability.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of regularly strength exercise of spine in teenagers with tutor. Method: Study subjects were 24 middle school students. They were arranged to 2 groups(n=12, respectively). Then experimental group did regularly strength exercise of spine as the handout maneuver during 50min/day and 1day/week in 8 weeks with tutor, but control group did regularly exercise of spine as same maneuver without tutor. For muscle strength of both extensor and flexor of lumbar, the balancing ability and weight distribution index were measured before and after the intervention. Results: For muscle strength of both extensor and flexor of lumbar, there was not significant differences after the intervention, but both flexor and extensor increase mean value of muscle strength than control group. For balancing ability and weight distribution index, there were not significant difference after intervention(p>.05), but experimental group show a tendency to decrease in a few position than control group. Conclusion: When teenagers regularly exercise for spine strengthening for a long time with tutor, it may be increased muscle strength of lumbar and trunk balance.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of lumbar stabilization exercise therapy on low back pain patients' lumbar spinal function. Identify the effect of stabilization exercise therapy, this study attempted to determine lumbar spinal functions, using spinoscopy, for 20 patients with low back pain This study applied lumbar stabilization exercise to 20 low back pain patients without a control group for 8 weeks and 4 times a week, and examined their spinal functions before and after the application. Data collected from the test were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed ranked test, a nonparametric test. Absolute index, functionality and performance increased significantly compared to them before treatment. FE loads and velocity control while conducting exercise tasks increased significantly compared to them before treatment. Test item ROL and ROM, which indicate the change of angle, both showed significant differences. Of stiff spine, stiff pelvic score and sprain score, which indicate the effects of the conduct of exercise tasks on the movement of the spine, stiff spine score and sprain score showed significant differences. According to the results as presented above, lumbar stabilization exercise may be greatly helpful in improving low back pain patients' lumbar spinal functions.

  • For the favorable performance of a D.I. diesel engine, it is important to improve the mixture formation process and the ensuing early stage of combustion process. In the present paper, high speed photography was employed to investigate the effectiveness of a cavity digged in a piston crown for some more useful utilization of air. The cavity would function to improve mixing of fuel and air by the increase of turbulence of air and by the impingement of fuel spray on the cavity wall. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) From an aspect of thermal efficiency, it is effective to inject the spray tangentially to the cavity wall to enlarge the area of spray evaporation. (2) some deductions obtained from previous investigations using a hot air stream duct are supported by the present results. For example, it is effective for the quick development of flames throughout the combustion chamber to mix the evaporated fuel of main spray with the intermediates brought about by the early stage of combustion of the preceded auxiliary fuel spray.
