  • This study analyzed the substitute behavior of mothers of infants or elementary-school-aged children in terms of consumption. For this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with women residing in the Seoul metropolitan area who show significant interest in their children. The interviews were analyzed based on the grounded theory. The findings of this study are as follows. First, mothers show substitute behavior for their children's appearance. The younger the children, the more substitute consumption exhibited by mothers. As children grow older and are able to choose what to wear, mothers show less substitute behavior tendencies regarding appearance management. Second, mothers tend to exhibit substitute behavior regarding their children's academic achievements. Mothers hope their children will be more successful than themselves were or will achieve the dreams that they failed to accomplish, which drives substitute behavior. Mothers affectionately provide children with financial support so they can obtain academic achievement and they hope their children will have successful occupations in the future. Third, mothers who are not satisfied with their appearance and have low self-esteem are more likely to exhibit substitute behavior with their children. This study will be helpful in understanding mothers' motivation and psychological factors regarding the support of their children.

  • This study analyzed current use of 2-block haircut styles and preferences for accurate understanding of the haircut and enhancement of its efficiency. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against 441 men in their 20~40s living in Jeollanam-do from June 27 to July 6, 2019. A total of 430 copies were used for final analysis. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis and cross-tabulation analysis, using SPSS 21.0, and the results found the followings: When asked about the factors affecting their choice of the haircut, 58.4% (20~40s in age) responded, 'my own decision'. Second, 61.2% said that they were interested in a 2-block haircut, and 54.7% responded that they had the haircut before. Among them, 92.3% said that they were satisfied with the trendy undercut. The above results confirm that men's appearance management is now essential, considering changes in social environments. People envision their hairstyle and visit a hair salon based on their own will, not after recommendation from their acquaintances. Many customers prefer a 2-block haircut because they believe it looks good on them. In addition, they choose the easy-to-care undercut to have a clean and neat image. It is anticipated that the study results would make a contribution to suggesting basic academic data and enhancing sales in a 2-lock haircut which is expected to remain popular. Therefore, it proposes in-depth studies on new 2-block haircut styles for women.

Students who wore 'skirts only' were the greatest and students who wore 'trousers only' were higher in the case of winter uniform than in summer uniform. The most popular reason to wear skirts was 'because most of their fellow students wore skirts' in both winter and summer. The main reason for wearing trousers was 'because it was easy to cope with changes in temperature' in winter and 'because it allowed more comfortable movements' in summer. Students who wore trousers were generally satisfied with wearing trousers as school uniforms. However, they showed a low degree of satisfaction about design and color of trousers. The students preferred slim and straight trousers, and black col or with beige and blue being the next color. Students in general had low level of recognition for the need to wear trousers. Students perceived trousers as being cold-proof and comfortable for physical activities. But they also perceived that trousers were not suitable for improving their appearances and expressing their characteristics.
