Distortion Analysis for Outer Ring of Automotive Wheel Bearing (자동차용 휠 베어링 외륜의 변형 해석)

  • The wheel bearing is one of the important parts in a vehicle for translating power and bearing weight. When it is mounted on the knuckle by using bolts, the distortion of the outer ring including the seal mounting point and raceway occurs. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to analyze the distortion of the outer ring by using a finite element method. The commercial software MSC.MARC was used for this purpose. Elastoplastic and contact analysis were carried out to compute the clamping behavior of the outer ring, bolts, and knuckle. Because the concavity on the flange of the outer ring affects the deformation, its effect was considered. To verify the reliability of this study, the roundness of the outer ring was measured. The experimental results were comparatively in agreement with the computational results.

FE Analysis of Forging Process for Improving Tool Life in Hot Forging of CV Joint Outer Race (등속조인트 외륜 열간단조의 금형수명 향상을 위한 단조공정 유한요소해석)

  • During the hot forging process, the most common cause of tool failure is wear. Tool wear results in the gradual loss of part tolerances, after which eventually the tool must be replaced or repaired. In order to maximize the lifetimes of forging tools, it is important to investigate the wear mechanisms of these tools. In this study, the hot forging of the outer race of an automotive constant-velocity joint was analyzed by a finite element method to investigate the wear distribution, especially the amount and location of the maximum expected wear damage, using Archard's wear model, which was modified considering the forging temperature. Forging analyses were carried out after modifying blocker forging tools based on established versions. The modified blocker tools resulted in an increase in the tool life up to 31% with a finisher punch.

  • 베어링 고장진단은 대부분 진동센서에 의한 근접 탐침에 의존하고 있어 설치 및 측정 상에 제약이 따른다. 최근 들어 전동기 전류를 이용한 베어링 고장진단의 가능성이 제시되고 있으나 베어링의 초기고장에 대한 연구는 없었다. 본 연구에서는 전동기 전류를 이용하여 베어링 외륜의 초기고장을 검출할 수 있는 기법을 제시하였다. 이 기법은 처리 데이터를 줄이고 신속한 고장검출을 위하여 고장진단 주파수 대역 설정방법을 제시하였으며 유도전동기 베어링 외륜 고장검출 실험을 통하여 이 기법의 유용성을 보였다.
