Kinetic Studies on the Thermal Degradation of Pantothenic Acid (Pantothenic Acid의 열분해(熱分解)에 관한 속도론적(速度論的) 연구(硏究))

  • Thermal degradation of pantothenic acid in potassium biphthalate buffer and in food samples such as rice, mushroom and beef was studied as functions of temperature and pH. Thermal degradation of pantothenic acid in buffer and food systems followed first order reaction at temperature between $60{\sim}104^{\circ}C$. Activation energy calculated from the Arrhenius equation ranged from 15,700 cal/mole 17,300 cal/mole for both systems. D values at $120^{\circ}C$ were approximately 18 hours for food samples and 15.4 hours at pH 5.65 for buffer sample. Z values of food samples were about $37^{\circ}C$, which were similar to those of buffer sample. The decomposition rate constant of pantothenic acid in buffer sample decreased when the pH increased from 4.0 to 6.46, but activation energy increased. In the range of $pH\;6.46{\sim}8.0$, decomposition rate constant increased but activation energy decreased as pH increased. The kinetic model of pantothenic acid decomposition in buffer system was proposed on the basis of empirical relationship.

  • The term, travel-time reliability, refers to variations in journey time that travelers cannot predict. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a standard way to measure travel time reliability. A modified buffer time indicator is proposed. The index is represented by the difference between planned and actual travel times based on lognormal type travel time distribution. Using this framework, a constant function for railways and a negative parabola function for roads are discussed. The model developed is applied to the real data of Korean road and rail usages to empirically verify the methodology proposed. In this process, the unit value of travel time reliability for each group is estimated. The result of this research is expected to be helpful of conducting more cautious economic feasibility studies of transport.

Existence and Characteristics of Microbial cells in the Bentonite to be used for a Buffer Material of High-Level Wastes (고준위폐기물 완충재로 사용되는 벤토나이트의 미생물의 존재 및 특성)

  • There was a study for biological characteristics, except for physico-chemical and mineralogical properties, on the natural bentonite that is considered as a buffer material for the high-level radioactive waste disposal site. A bentonite slurry that was prepared from a local 'Gyeongju bentonite' in Korea was incubated in a serum bottle with nutrient media over 1 week and its stepwise change was observed with time. From the activated bentonite in the nutrient media, we can find a certain change of both solid and liquid phases. Some dark and fine sulfides began to be generated from dissolved sulfate solution, and 4 species of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) were identified as living cells in samples that were periodically taken and incubated. These results show that sulfate-reducing (or metal-reducing) bacteria are adhering and existing in the powder of bentonite, suggesting that there may be a potential occurrence of longterm biogeochemical effects in and around the bentonite buffer in underground anoxic environmental conditions.

Effect of Enzyme and Inorganic Salts Addition and Heat Treatment on kimchi Fermentation (효소 및 염의 첨가와 순간 열처리가 김치발효에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of microwave heat treatment and addition of enzyme, kimchi liquid, buffer solution and several salts on the changes in pH of kimchi liquid were investigated during fermentation at $25{\sim}35^{\circ}C$. It was found that microwave heat treatment on brined chinese cabbage and enzyme addition of cellulase and amylase showed a little improvement effect, while combination of both methods significantly increased the fermentation rate. The addition of kimchi liquid having pH 4.6 was found to be very desirable for both shortening the fermentation time and flavor acceptance. Among the inorganic salts and buffer solution studied, phosphate buffer(pH 4.6), sodium nitrite and $Na_2HPO_4$ were significantly effective for reduction of kimchi fermentation rate by two to three folds.

Neutralization and Buffer Effect of Crab Shell Powder in Kimchi (김치에 첨가한 게껍질 분말의 중화 및 완충효과)

  • In order to study the effect of ozone treated-CSP(crab shell powders) addition in kimchi on shelf-life, sensory quality, neutralization and buffer action during fermentation at 10"C were investigated. The edible periods of kimchi containing 2% CSP by investigating pH and acidity were prolonged by 40 and 33 days, respectively. CSP in kimchi showed strong neutralization action for 0~25 days and buffer action after 25 days during fermentation. The slow and complete neutralization action of 3% CSP in 2% lactic acid solution was observed. Amounts of lactic acid, which 2% CSP in kimchi was capable of absorption by buffer action during fermentation, was 0.07~0.3%. The studies of sensory quality improvement for CSP added kimchi was demanded in the furture.ture.

  • In the study of cyclic voltammogram of rubeanic acid, rubeanic acid has two reduction peaks; first peak is similar with that of $S^{2-}$ and thiourea, which is conceded to by HgS, second peak is very weak and unidentified. The study also describes the differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetric method for the determination of rubeanic acid. The followings were optimal conditions of rubeanic acid for the study : 0.05M borate buffer solution(pH 10.0) ; an accumulation potential of -0.30V(vs. Ag/AgCl); accumulation time of 120sec. : scan rate of 10mV/sec. The detection limit of trace analysis shows $2.7{\times}10^{-8}M$ of rubeanic and at optimal conditions.

  • This study was designed to investigate the method of the simultaneous determination of water-soluble vitamins (thiamine, ascorbic acid, riboflavin, folic acid, cyanocobalamine, pyridoxin, nicotinic acid) by free soloution capillary electrophoresis. Factors affecting on the separation were pH of the buffer, applied voltage and temperature. On-column detection at 254 nm allowed accurate and reproducible determination of these compounds. All these compounds were separated within ca. 8 min with fused silica capillary at 20 kV.

  • 이 논문은 촉각 가상 환경(Haptic Virtual Environment)에서 촉각(haptic) 데이터를 촉각 데이터 특성에 맞추어 네트워크에 적응적이고 효율적으로 전송할 수 있는 전송 알고리즘을 제안한다. 촉감 상호작용 측정을 위해 네트워크 햅틱 협업 응용을 작성하였고 지연, 지터, 손실에 따른 변화를 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 네트워크 트래픽에 적응할 수 있는 알고리즘을 구성하였다. 손실되거나 지터의 영향을 받은 패킷에는 간단한 선형예측 방법을 사용하여 보상하여 손실과 지터로 인한 오차를 줄였다. 이는 심각한 손실이나 지터에 의해 떨림 현상이 나타나는 햅틱 장치의 문제점을 개선하게 되었다. 또한 네트워크 협업에서 지연이 발생할 때 나타나는 클라이언트들 사이의 비동시성을 해결하기 위하여 완충시간을 두었다. 지연이 큰 클라이언트는 버퍼를 사용하지 않고 실시간으로 처리하고, 지연이 적은 클라이언트는 버퍼를 사용하여 전송받은 좌표를 완충시킨 후에 처리하는 방법을 사용하여 클라이언트들 사이의 햅틱 렌더링을 동기화 하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 다양한 네트워크 상황에서의 협업에서 개선된 결과를 보였다. 이를 바탕으로 향후 선형예측 방법을 다양하게 적용시키고 서버와 클라이언트 사이의 동기화를 구현하는 알고리즘을 작성할 것이다. 본 논문은 다양한 네트워크 상황 에서 햅틱 데이터를 전송하고 처리하는 연구의 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.

Effect of Buffering Agent and Bead on Bacterial Cellulose Production from Acetobacter sp. A9 in Shaking Culture (진탕배양에서 Acetobacter sp. A9로부터 셀룰로오스 생산에 대한 완충성분 및 Bead의 효과)

  • Acetobacter strains are bacteria that can synthesize cellulose when grown on an undefined medium containing glucose. Several culture conditions affecting cellulose production by Acetobacter sp. A9 were examined by cultivating cells under shaking cultures. The addition of buffering agents, such as 3-(N-morpholino) propanesulfonic acid (MOPS) and CaCO$_3$, increased cellulose production. It suggests that pH of culture medium is important to an economical mass cellulose production. Addition of bead (Ф10 w) to culture medium stimulated 'disintegrated bacterial cellulose' production.

  • 포는 대체로 정확도와 최대 발사거리 및 최대 발사속도 등에 의해 그 성능 이 표현된다. 그 중에서도 최대 발사속도는 매우 중요한 인자로서 포의 주퇴 복좌 장치의 성능에 의해 직접적으로 영향을 받게 된다. 따라서 포의 최대 발사속도 향상을 위해서는 주퇴복좌 장치의 동특성 해석 능력을 확보하고, 그로부터 주퇴 장치의 설계 변경이 가능하도록 해야 한다. 한편, 주퇴복좌기 의 주퇴특성은 주퇴시 총주퇴저항력이 전주퇴장에 대해서 거의 일정해야만 포신에 전달되는 힘을 최소로 하면서 주퇴시간을 최소로 할 수 있으며 이러 한 설계 개념으로 주퇴복좌기를 설계한다. 그에 따라 주퇴복좌기는 그 내부 가 가변 오리피스 및 조절 로드로 이루어져 주퇴복좌기의 주퇴 저항력을 주 퇴속도 및 주퇴변위에 따라 변화시키도록 되어 있다. 따라서 주퇴복좌기는 필연적으로 강한 비선형 특성을 나타낸다. 이러한 주퇴복좌기를 모델링할 때 에 기존에는 주퇴복좌기내의 모든 유체역학적 요소를 고려하여 모델링하는 기법이 통용되어왔다. 그러나 이러한 모델링은 각 요소의 모델링 오차가 누 적될 위험이 있으므로 정확한 모델링을 보장할 수 없으며, 매우 복잡한 과정 을 거쳐야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주퇴 완충기 시뮬레이터를 이용한 실 험에 따른 계의 파라미터 예측을 통하여 모델링하는 기법을 시도하여 보았 다.
