  • Simultaneous control of blowers and heat exchangers affecting the air sealing and flow conditions inside the green house is essential to the management of $CO_2$ concentration. Currently, the demand for automation systems and integrated control is steadily increasing according to increasing of farm areas per person due to the reduction of agricultural population. This paper proposes the integrated control system that can control simultaneously the existing devices such as measurement switching devices which are important variables in the supply of $CO_2$, $CO_2$ generator fuel and combustion air mixture ratio(air-to-fuel ratio), and $CO_2$ supply control under internal and external conditions.

Minimizing Benzo(a)pyrene Content in the Manufacturing of Sesame Oil and Perilla Oil (참기름과 들기름의 제조조건에 따른 벤조피렌 함량 변화)

  • This study was carried out to identify the cause of benzo(a)pyrene[B(a)P] production during the manufacture of sesame oil and perilla oil, and to minimize such B(a)P synthesis. The distribution of B(a)P in sesame seed and perilla seed differed with seed-growing district, the range was $0.06{\sim}0.31{\mu}g/kg$ in domestic seed and $0.12{\sim}0.47{\mu}g/kg$ in imported seed. B(a)P contents after roasting at $220^{\circ}C$ for 20 min in sesame seed and perilla seed were $1.87{\sim}2.47{\mu}g/kg$ and $2.12{\sim}2.43{\mu}g/kg$, respectively, and levels in oils obtained from the roasted seeds were $3.68{\mu}g/kg$ and $4.64{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. These data refer to seeds subjected to codsed roasting. With open roasting, the levels were $0.63{\mu}g/kg$ and $0.56{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. Closed roasting resulted in absorption of B(a)P, with consequent high levels in oils. We introduced forced ventilation during closed roasting. We tested various methods to remove B(a)P from sesame oil and perilla oil. Neither centrifugation nor filtering with diatomite and diatomiteactive carbon removed B(a)P. A filtering method using active carbon was effective. But this method adversely affected the color and flavor of sesame oil and perilla oil.

Growth of Lettuce in Closed-Type Plant Production System as Affected by Light Intensity and Photoperiod under Influence of White LED Light (밀폐형 식물생산시스템에서 백색 LED를 이용한 광도와 광주기에 따른 상추의 생장)

  • This study was conducted to examine the effect of light intensity and photoperiod of white LEDs as the artificial light source on the growth of leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) 'Seonhong Jeokchukmyeon' in a closed-type plant production system. Seedlings, transplanted at a density of $20cm{\times}20cm$ in a completely randomized design, were grown under white LEDs (FC Poibe Co. Ltd., Korea), at one of the 3 light intensities (100, 200, or $300{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$), and each with one of 3 photoperiods [12/12, 18/6, or 24/0 (Light/Dark)]. Plants were cultured for 22 days under the condition of $21{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$ RH, and $400{\pm}50{\mu}mol{\cdot}mol^{-1}\;CO_2$. The greatest leaf length and width, fresh and dry weights, and total anthocyanin content were obtained in the 24/0 photoperiod, regardless of the light intensity. Length of the longest root, fresh and dry weights, and number of leaves were greater in light intensity of $200{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ than 100 or $300{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. Chlorophyll value was the greatest in the photoperiod 12/12 than 18/6 or 24/0. The results obtained suggest that plant grew the best kept by light intensity at 200 or $300{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, and photoperiod of 12/12 or 18/6.

A Study on the Hermetic Method for Packaging of Implantable Medical Device (생체 이식형 의료기기의 패키징을 위한 완전 밀폐 방법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper introduces a biocompatible packaging system for implantable medical device having a hermetic sealing, such that a perfect physical and chemical isolation between electronic medical system and human body (including tissue, body fluids, etc.) is obtained. The hermetic packaging includes an electronic MEMS pressure sensor, power charging system, and bluetooth communication system to wirelessly measure variation of capacitance. The packaging was acquired by Quartz direct bonding and $CO_2$ laser welding, with a size of width $ 6cm{\times}length\;10cm{\times}lheight\;3cm$. Hermetic sealing of the packaged system was tested by changing the pressure in a hermetic chamber using a precision pressure controller, from atmospheric to 900 mmHg. We found that the packaged system retained the same count or capacitance values with sensor 1 - 25,500, sensor 2 - 26,000, and sensor 3 - 20,800, at atmospheric as well as 900 mmHg pressure for 5 hours. This result shows that the packaging method has perfect hermetic sealing in any environment of the human body pressure.

  • The present study is a basic investigation for systematically proceeding disaster prevention studying the effect of platform screen door in case of fire at the subway station. In the paper, the characteristics of screen door were surveyed and described. The fully closed platform screen door and the island type of subway station were employed for simulation-study. Numerical simulations of fire driven flow at the subway station with platform screen door were performed with commercial fire CFD code. For analyzing of the effect of platform screen door, the fire simulations with and without the platform screen door were compared. For the fire location, the one is located on the platform and the other case on the railway. The Ultrafast model was taken as fire growth scenario. The maximum heat release rate was 10MW. The propagated time of the heat and smoke to stairs was within 4 minute when the fire is located on the platform. However the heat and smoke propagation was block off by screen door when the fire is located on the railway.

An Effective Block of Radioactive Gases for the Storage During the Synthesis of Radiopharmaceutical (방사성의약품 합성에서 발생하는 방사성기체의 효율적 차단)

  • Purpose : Methode an effective block was investigated to deal with volatile radioactive gas, short lived radioactive waste generated as a result of the routinely produced radiopharmaceuticals FDG (2-deoxy-2-[$^{18}F$]fluoro-D-glucose) and compound with $^{11}C$. Materials and Methods : All components of the radiation stack monitoring and data management system for continuous radioactive gas detection in the air extract system purchase from fixed noble gas monitor of Berthold company. TEDLAR gas sampling bags purchase from the Dongbanghitech company. TEDLAR gas sampling bags (volume: 10 L) connected via paraflex or PTFE tubing and Teflon 3 way stopcock. When installing TEDLAR gas sampling bags in Hot cell on the inside and not radioactive gas concentrations were compared. According to whether the Hot cell inside a activated carbon filter installed, compare the difference in concentration of the radioactive gas $^{18}F$. Comparison of radiation emission concentration difference of module a FASTlab and TRACElab. Results : Activated carbon filter are installed in the Hot cell, a measure of the concentration of radioactive gas was 8 $Bq/m^3$. Without activated carbone filter in the hot cell was 300 $Bq/m^3$. Tedlar bag prior to installation of the radioactive gases a measure of the concentration was 3,500 $Bq/m^3$, $^{11}C$ synthesis of the measured concentration was 27,000 $Bq/m^3$. After installed a Tedlar bag and a measure concentration of the radioactive gases was 300 $Bq/m^3$ and $^{11}C$ synthesis was 1,000$Bq/m^3$. Conclusion : $^{11}C$ radioactive gas that was ejected out of the Hot cell, with the use of a Tedlar gas sampling bag stored inside. A compound of 11C is not absorbed onto activated carbon filter. But can block the release out by storing in a Tedlar gas sampling bag. We was able to reduce the radiation exposure of the worker by efficient radiation protection.

Experimental Investigation of Stannite-Sphalerite System In Relation to Ores (황석석일섬아연석계(黃錫石一閃亞鉛石系)의 실험연구(實驗硏究)와 천연건물(天然鍵物)에의 활용(活用))

  • The subject of this study deals with phase relations between stannite ($Cu_2FeSnS_4$) and sphalerite (${\beta}-ZnS$)/wurtzite (${\alpha}-ZnS$). The phase relations were systematically investigated from liquidus temperature to $400^{\circ}C$ under controlled conditions. ${\beta}-stannite$ (tetragonal) is stable up to $706{\pm}5^{\circ}C$, where it inverts to a high-temperature polymorph ${\alpha}-stannite$ (cubic) melting congruently at $867{\pm}5^{\circ}C$. Sphalerite (cubic, ${\beta}-ZnS$) inverts at $1013{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ to wurtzite, which is the hexagonal hightemperature polymorph of ZnS. Between ${\alpha}-stannite$ and sphalerite a complete solid solution series exists above approximately $870^{\circ}C$ up to solidus temperature. The melting temperature of ${\alpha}-stannite$ rises towards sphalerite and reaches a maximum at $1074{\pm}3^{\circ}C$, which is the peritectic with the composition of 91 wt. % sphalerite and 9 wt. % ${\alpha}-stannite$. At this temperature, wurtzite takes only 5wt. % ${\alpha}-stannite$ in solid solution which decreases with increasing temperature. The inverson temperature of ${\alpha}/{\beta}-stannite$ is lowered with increasing amounts of sphalerite in solid solution down to $614{\pm}7^{\circ}C$, which is the eutectoid with the composition of 13 wt. % sphalerite and 87 wt. % ${\alpha}-stannite$. Here, ${\beta}-stannite$ contains only 10wt. % sphalerite in solid solution. With decreasing temperature, the ranges of the solid solution on both sides of the system narrow. The phase relations in the above pure system changed due to the FeS impurities in the sphalerite solid solution. The eutectoid increased from $614{\pm}7^{\circ}C$ up to $695{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ (5 wt. % FeS) and $700{\pm}5^{\circ}C$ (10wt. % FeS), while the peritectic decreased from $1074{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ down to $1036{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ (wt. %FeS) and $987{\pm}3^{\circ}C$ (10wt. %FeS). A most notable change is the appearance of non-binary regions. An important feature is the combination of this study system with the experimental results reported by Sprinfer (1972). If a stannite-kesterite solid solution is used in the place of stannite as a bulk composition, the inversion temperature is lowered to less than $400^{\circ}C$ which belongs to temperatures of the hydrothermal region.

Residual evaluation of ethyl formate in soil and crops after fumigation in green house (에틸포메이트의 하우스 농작물 훈증처리 후 토양 및 작물 중 잔류양상)

  • Ethyl formate (EF) is a potent fumigant replacing methyl bromide. The use of EF is limited to a quarantine process. Appling EF to agricultural field as a safe insecticide in greenhouse give us valuable benefits including less residual concern. In this regard, residual pattern after EF fumigation in greenhouse should be undertaken. In the previous study, we have established agricultural control concentration of EF to control pests in a greenhouse. EF was fumigated at 5 g m-3 level for 2 h. The concentration of EF inside a greenhouse was analyzed to be 4.1-4.3 g m-3 at 30 min after fumigation. To prepare an analytical method for residues in cucumber crops and soil in the greenhouse, the limit of detection(LOD) of the method was 100ng g-1 and the limit of quantitation(LOQ) of this method was 300 ng g-1. R2 values of calibration curves for crops and soil were 0.991-0.997. In samples collected immediately after ventilation, EF concentration was determined to be below LOQ level. In addition, EF level was below LOQ in samples collected at 3 h after ventilation except that leaf samples of melon during the flowering period showed a level of 1,068.9 ng g-1. Taken together, these results indicate that EF used in quarantine can be applied to agricultural fields without residual issue as an effective fumigant for insect pest control.
