  • In this study, a numerical scheme based on physical optics method is developed to predict RCS of perfectly conducting body. The scheme is verified through the comparisons of numerical values of cylinder and sphere with analytical ones. It is also applied to compute RCS of a fast naval craft. Major reflection of this ship at threat angle of 0 degrees is found to be due to superstructure and stern part of main hull. In order to investigate the shaping effects on the ship. inclination angles of the stern of main hull and superstructure are set to 12 degrees. The RCS of the ship with shaping is proven to be much reduced in comparison with one without shaping.

  • In this paper, we analyze a planar electromagnetic absorber by using the mode matching technique(MMT). The proposed electromagnetic absorber has a periodic structure composed of a perfect conductor and ferrite, and the transmitted and reflected powers in response to the incident wave with parallel polarization are calculated according to the thickness of the plate. The proposed absorber shows a high absorption compared to the cases of periodic slits with vacuum or the ferrite plate itself. The solution to the reflected and transmitted powers by MMT is also verified with the results from a commercial simulator.

  • Two hundred and forty female day-old broiler chicks were employed in this study to investigate the influence of grains containing different levels of dietary fiber on the growth rate, carcass fat content and abdominal fat pad weight. Corn and sorghum were used as low-fiber grains, and rye and hulled barley as high-fiber grains. During the 6 weeks of feeding period, chicks were fed one of the four diets which were iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous. Birds were Tandomly allotted to 20 battery cages. There were five replicates per treatment and 12 chicks per replicate (pen). Data were subjected to the one-way ANOVA test, and when significant at 5% level, then means were compared by the method of Duncan (1955). At 3 weeks of age, rye-fed chicks grew significantly slower than did the other birds. At 6 weeks of age, the growth rates of chicks fed rye and sorghum were significantly lower than those of birds fed barley ana corn. Carcasses from birds fed rye showed significantly lower tat content than those from birds fed corn and sorghum at 3 weeks of age. No significant difference was found between rye and barley in this context. At 6 weeks of age. however, this difference in carcass fat content disappeared. No significant difference in abdominal fat pad weight was found among four grains at both 3 and 6 weeks of ages.

  • To develop a diet for Hanwoo steers during the late fattening phase, three different feeding treatments were investigated: a group fed concentrate and rice straw separately (Formula feed), a group fed TMR during the whole late fattening period (TMR), and a group fed TMR plus concentrate (Formula-TMR). Thirty Hanwoo steers 20 months of age (average body weight = 445 kg) were allotted by a completely randomized design into three treatment groups (ten steers in each group). The impact of these treatments on the performance, carcass traits, and blood composition related to body fat synthesis was assessed. The average dry matter and TDN intake were greater in Formula-TMR compared to other treatments (p<0.05); however, body gain, carcass weight, meat production index, and fat color were not affected by dietary type. Blood characteristics, such as concentrations of retinol, insulin, and leptin were not affected by any of the treatments; however the marbling score of the longisimus muscle was significantly higher in Formula-TMR (p<0.05), which was relatively high in blood leptin concentration. The muscle texture, meat quantity index, and meat quality index were highest in the Formula feed, TMR, and Formula-TMR, respectively (p<0.05).

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of feeding squid by-products on the growth performance and carcass characteristics of Hanwoo cows. Sixteen Hanwoo cows, aged 7 years and weighing $484.1{\pm}63.6$ kg, were randomly allocated to 2 feeding groups (8 animals per group): control and treatment (fed squid by-products). Both groups were fed ad libitum for 150d. Average daily gain was significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group (p<0.05). During the experimental period, DMI and feed conversion ratios were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group (p<0.05). The results of yield traits, back fat thickness, rib eye area, and yield index were similar between the two groups. Carcass weights were 363.4 kg and 353.1 kg for treatment and control, respectively, but these differences were not statistically significant. Quality traits such as meat color, fat color, texture, and maturity were also not significantly different between the two groups. However, marbling score and rate of appearance of high quality grade ($1^{++}$, $1^+$, and 1) were higher in the treatment group than in the control group. These results suggest that feeding squid by-products may improve the growth performance and carcass characteristics of Hanwoo cows.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a high protein diet containing barley on the growth performance and carcass characteristics of finishing pigs. A total of fifty six [(Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire${\times}$Duroc)] pigs (85.08 kg in average initial body weight) were used for a 6-week study. Dietary treatments included 1) Basal diet (CON) and 2) High protein diet with barley 5% (HB5). During the entire test periods, there were no significant differences in Average daily gain (ADG), Average daily feed intake (ADFI) and gain/feed ratio between treatments (p>0.05). The b value of M. logissimus dorsi muscle color was significantly increased in CON fed pigs compared to pigs fed the HB5 diet (p<0.05). The water holding capacity (WHC) was higher in HB5 than CON fed pigs (p<0.05). Also, drip loss was significantly decreased in HB5 compared to CON fed pigs (p<0.05). Backfat thickness, live weight, cold carcass weight, dressing, and carcass grade were not significantly affected by either treatment (p>0.05). In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that a high protein diet with 5% barley affects meat color, WHC and drip loss in finishing pigs.

  • To investigate the effects of total mixed ration(TMR) on growth performance and carcass characteristics of Hanwoo steers, sixty steers were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups; separate feeding of concentrate and rice straw(control), wet TMR(TMRⅠ), dry TMR with 20%(TMRⅡ) and 40%(TMRⅢ) barley bran from 6 to 28 month of age. In growth performance, average daily gains of TMRⅡ group was the highest(0.70kg/day) but significant differences between treatments were not found(p>0.05). Average feed required for kg body weight gain of control group was 11.63kg. Those of TMRⅠ through TMRⅢ were 9.29, 10.46 and 10.71kg, respectively. Dressing percentage and retailed cut percentage were 59% and 63%, without any significant differences between treatments(p>0.05). There were no significant differences in rib-eye area, back fat thickness, meat color and fat color (p>0.05). Average marbling score was higher(p<0.05) in TMRⅠ than in control group.

  • In wireless environment such as wireless LAN, proper location of wireless LAN AP allows us to take an effective coverage to provide good wireless communication service. To simulate wireless environment, FDTD formulation is introduced and Gaussian pulse injection in grid space is considered to be replaced wireless LAN AP. So structural effect corresponding to location of arbitrary obstacle must be considered, and its received gain is estimated. An obstacle in scattering field should be modeled to be conductor and concrete wall and its diffraction effect for some cross wall is evaluated between transmitter and receiver point.

  • This paper presents an efficient method to estimate the induced current by the external electromagnetic wave when the line system is composed of cascaded transmission lines. To solve this phenomena, we apply the state variable method to the nonhomogeneous differential equation. This new method is the way of transferring the sources at a different point by the Ch- aracteristics of the transition matrix. Using this method, we investigate the characteristics of the induced power of the transmission line above the perfectly conducting ground plane.

  • The integral equations used in electromagnetic fields theory can be used for scattering problems. We can obtain various characteristics of scatterer. Ie, power pattern, scattered field, by finding current distribution on the scatterer. In this paper, current distribution on polygonal cylinder is obtained using integral equations in 2 dimension. For numerical aualysis, the moment method is used with pulse function as a basis function and integral equation is used with extrapolation method, which saves cpu time.
