Smart Electric Mobility Operating System Integrated with Off-Grid Solar Power Plants in Tanzania: Vision and Trial Run (탄자니아의 태양광 발전소와 통합된 전기 모빌리티 운영 시스템 : 비전과 시범운행)

  • To respond to the threat of global warming, countries around the world are promoting the spread of renewable energy and reduction of carbon emissions. In accordance with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal to combat climate change and its impacts, global automakers are pushing for a full transition to electric vehicles within the next 10 years. Electric vehicles can be a useful means for reducing carbon emissions, but in order to reduce carbon generated in the stage of producing electricity for charging, a power generation system using eco-friendly renewable energy is required. In this study, we propose a smart electric mobility operating system integrated with off-grid solar power plants established in Tanzania, Africa. By applying smart monitoring and communication functions based on Arduino-based computing devices, information such as remaining battery capacity, battery status, location, speed, altitude, and road conditions of an electric vehicle or electric motorcycle is monitored. In addition, we present a scenario that communicates with the surrounding independent solar power plant infrastructure to predict the drivable distance and optimize the charging schedule and route to the destination. The feasibility of the proposed system was verified through test runs of electric motorcycles. In considering local environmental characteristics in Tanzania for the operation of the electric mobility system, factors such as eco-friendliness, economic feasibility, ease of operation, and compatibility should be weighed. The smart electric mobility operating system proposed in this study can be an important basis for implementing the SDGs' climate change response.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of an autocascade refrigeration system using the refrigerant mixtures of R-134a(64${\sim}$72wt%), R-23(20${\sim}$25wt%) and R-14(8${\sim}$12wt%) as working fluids by experiment. The experimental apparatus consisted of a autocascade system with a compressor, condenser, evaporator, gas-liquid separator and cascade condenser, etc. Two main causes to this failure were considered as follows. First, the pressure ratio in the compressor was extremely increased at the beginning of the experiment. Second, the outlet temperature in compressor was higher than its limited temperature. For a stable operation of the compressor, a portion of the mixed refrigerant was by-passed at the inlet of the heat exchanger and transferred directly to the suction of the compressor in the modified system. The experimental parameters were changed weight of R-134a(1800g, 2800g), R-23(700, 800, 900g) and R-14(300, 400, 500g). The results showed that the best performance in case of R-134a of 2800g, R-23 of 900g and R-14 of 500g.

Application Software Modeling and Integration Methodology using AUTOSAR-ready Light Software Architecture (AUTOSAR 대응 경량화 소프트웨어 아키텍처를 이용한 어플리케이션 소프트웨어 모델링 및 통합 방법)

  • This paper describes a model-based software development methodology for AUTOSAR-ready light software architecture(AUTOSAR-Lite). The proposed methodology briefly represents an application software modeling technique using Matlab/Simulink. Using the proposed technique, application software architecture elements (e.g. software components, runnables, and interfaces) and functional behaviors can be designed in a single modeling environment. From the designed model, the codes of application software is automatically generated using Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder. The generated application software is easily integrated with hand-coded basic software using the proposed method. In order to evaluate the proposed methodology, a diesel engine management system for a passenger car was employed as a case study. Based on the methodology, 8 atomic software components and 52 runnables are successfully developed, and they are evaluated by engine experiments. From this case study, AUTOSAR compatible model-based application software was successfully developed, and the effectiveness of the proposed methodology was evaluated.

  • The purpose of this study is to perform modelings and experiments to measure air flow rate using hot-wires and a CTA(Constant Temperature Anemometer). The flow rate can be obtained by measuring the heat loss of the hot-wire due to the variations of flow velocity when the hot-wire is maintained at uniform temperature. But the defect of this method is that the output signal changes not only by the flow rate but also by the ambient temperature. Thus, in the present study, a method which compensates the variations of the ambient temperature has been introduced to measure exact flow rate. To be more specific, the bridge circuit of the usual hot-wire anemometer system has been modified in such a way that a temperature resistance sensor and a variable resistance are placed in one of the legs to compensate the different temperature coefficients of both the hot-wire and the temperature compensating resistance for flow velocity or for flow mass up to the flow temperature of 50 .deg.C. Comparing the modeling and experimental results, it has been shown that the compensating point differs as the flow rate varies. Therefore, optimum compensation points are sought to construct the circuit. The present modeling and experimental results may be applied to the design of actual air flow meters for automobiles.

A study on reduction of structural vibration of an intake manifold system (흡기다기관 시스템의 구조진동 저감에 대한 연구)

  • Vibration of intake menifold is important as it could worsen the noise levels radiated from surface itself and support bracket, and it eventually leads to the failures of a Throttle Position Sensor and an Idle Air Control Valve. In this study, structural modification method is proposed to reduce structural vibration of an intake manifold system. At first, vibration problems are identified through tests on a running engine. Then modal data acquired by modal testing and finite element analysis are helpful to understand vibration mechanism of the system, and used as the design guide when structural modifications are attempted. After the system model is validated by comparison of the modal data obtained from analysis and experiment, iterative calculations are performed to find optimized structure of the system by finite element analysis. As a result, a newly designed plenum bracket is suggested in such a way that the intake manifold is stiffened, and that design of the support bracket is suggested in such a way that the intake manifold is stiffened, and that design of the support bracket is changed in terms of bolting position, thickness, shape, and minimum weight increase. Finally, it is shown that a new design achieves a significant reduction of vibration of an intake manifold system and it is confirmed by tests on a running engine.

  • In this paper, we propose that a model based design for an electric motor cycle system using ASM (Automotive Simulation Models). Before prototyping a realistic electric motorcycle, a reliable simulation program is required to test the capacities of the power sources and optimize the parameters of an electric motorcycle. Because ASM is based on Simulink, we can design the drivetrain and powertrain of the vehicle model systems easily. To verify the electric motorcycle system analysis of design parameters such as max power, capacity, state of charge and slope angle is carried out by the simulation and experimental method. The predicted results by the development model were in good agreement with the experimentally obtained results. Therefore, the proposed electric motorcycle model can effectively reduce the expenses during the designing of an electric motorcycle system.

  • Cellular Automata is a discrete dynamical system which natural phenomena may be specified completely in terms of local relation, can increase and decrease the difference of luminance locally according to transition rule by keeping the characteristic of target image. In this paper, we propose a noise reduction method by keeping the characteristic using transition rule of Cellular Automata, also we propose methods of effective transition rule, the selection of parameters, the selection of number of neighborhood pixels. For uniform distribution noise, Gaussian noise, impulse noise, we do an experiment on adaptive state using different mathematical operations and compare its results. It was confirmed that the proposed transition rule is based on fast convergence speed and has stabile results.

  • In this paper, we propose a suitable multiplication architecture for cellular automata in a finite field $GF(2^m)$. Proposed least significant bit first multiplier is based on irreducible all one Polynomial, and has a latency of (m+1) and a critical path of $ 1-D_{AND}+1-D{XOR}$.Specially it is efficient for implementing VLSI architecture and has potential for use as a basic architecture for division, exponentiation and inverses since it is a parallel structure with regularity and modularity. Moreover our architecture can be used as a basic architecture for well-known public-key information service in $GF(2^m)$ such as Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol, Digital Signature Algorithm and ElGamal cryptosystem.

  • 본 논문은 공장 등에서 버려지는 중온온도영역($100{\sim}250^{\circ}C$)에서의 패열을 잠열축열 시스템에서 유용하게 사용을 목적으로 잠열축열재인 에리스리톨와 만니톨 그리고 이것들을 혼합한 혼합물에 대한 조사에 관한 것이다. 또한, 만니톨에 에리스리톨을 첨가하는 것에 의해 융해 응고온도가 조정의 가능성에 대해서도 조사한다. 이때 에리스리톨과 만니톨 그리고 이것들의 혼합물의 융점과 잠열량은 시차주사열량계(DSC)를 이용하여 측정되며, 시험관안에 상변화물질을 충전하여 융해 응고거동을 디지털 카메라를 이용하여 관찰 된다. DSC측정결과에서는 만니톨의 함유량이 50~60mass%에서는 3개의 융점, 70~90mass%에서는 2개의 융점을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 시험관을 이용한 실험결과에서는 만니톨의 함유량에 따라서 각 각 다른 융해 응고거동이 일어나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

A Design System of Dies for Hot Extrusion of Structural Shapes from Aluminum Alloys (알루미늄 합금 형재의 열간압출 금형설계 시스템)

  • A design system of dies for hot extrusion of structural shapes such as Z's, L's, T's, U's and H's from aluminium alloys was developed in this study. The developed design system of dies is based of estimated die design rule system. The design rules for die design are obtained from the handbooks, plasticity theories and relevant references. The environment of the system is AutoCAD and AutoLISP, the graphic programming language was used for the configuration of the system. This system includes five major modules such as section shape design module, die opening number module, die opening layout module, die correction module and die bearing design module that are used to determine design variables. This system would be used to design of dies for hot extrusion from aluminum alloys and widely used in manufacturing course.
