임의의 입력 영상을 이해함에 있어서 코너점은 디지털 영상의 중요한 정보가 집중되어 있기 때문에 형태를 분석하는데 있어 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문은 영상의 중요한 정보 요소인 코너점을 보다 정확하게 추출하기 위하여 Farzin Mokhtarian과 Riku Suomela가 제안한 CSS(Curvature Scale Space) 방법에 기초한 다면체 모델 방법을 이용한 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다.

In this paper I explore the theory of agent causation proposed by T. O'Connor. According to the theory, we can't explain an agent's control over his intention and action without appealing to 'agent causes events'(shortly, ACEs). But I argue that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action. For this I show that reason-responsiveness is a necessary condition for an agent's control. In order for ACEs to help in explaining an agent's control, ACEs must be able to satisfy 'reason-responsiveness condition'. But, ACEs fail to satisfy the condition. For this reason, I conclude that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action.

우리나라는 약 15년 전부터 종이팩 재활용이 별도로 시도되어 국민의 홍보와 더불어 많은 시민단체 및 환경단체들의 환경과 호응 하에 활발히 진행되어 오다가 지난해에는 종이팩이 EPR제도의 재활용의무품목으로 지정되어 재활용분야에 지원금 등 인센티브제도가 적용되고 있다. 아직까지 우리나라의 종이팩 재활용율은 상당히 낮은 편인데, 근래에 배출 및 수거 쪽으로부터 재활용에 대한 열의가 오히려 식어가고 있는 것 같아 뜻있는 사람들의 마음을 안타깝게 하고 있다. 이에 월간 ‘재활용’지에서는 다시 한 번 현장의 문제점을 진단하여 방안을 제시하고 관련 분야의 인식을 고취시켜 종이팩 재활용율을 향상시키고자 하여 이번 2월호에 종이팩 재활용에 관한 특집과 더불어 업체탐방 코너에 국내에서 종이팩 재활용을 가장 많이 수행하고 있다는 삼정펄프(주)를 소개하고자 한다.

또세인꼬는 19세기 후반에서 20세기 초 식민지 버마의 지적 발전에 지대한 영향을 남긴 중요한 인물이지만 잊혀졌던 인물이다. '미얀마 연구'의 몇몇 뿌리가 식민지 시대에 있음을 고려할 때, 또세인꼬의 저작은 미얀마를 연구하고 이해하려는 오늘날의 노력에 의미하는 바가 크다. 그는 고고학적 저술로 잘 알려져 있긴 하지만, 그의 저작과 경력을 검토해 본 결과 그는 식민지사회에서 공적 지식인으로 활약했음을 알 수 있었다. 아시아 연구(특히 버마 연구)의 발전이 제국주의적 틀 속에서 이루어질 때, 또세인꼬는 식민지 버마에 존재했던 혼성적 저술전통을 따라 저술했다. 또세인꼬는 버마인의 관점이나 가장 공감할 수 있는 언어로 도회지 독자들에게 호소하는 방법과 같은 그 어느 길에서도 벗어났던 스콧, 오코너, 그리고 필딩-홀과 같은 영국학자들의 그룹에 속한다. 또세인꼬의 저술을 연구하는 것은 식민지적 지식과 버마에 관한 영국인의 저작에 관한 연구가 유용하게 재개념화 될 수 있는 기초를 갖추는데 도움이 된다.

경포호는 우리나라의 대표적인 자연호수이자 대관령과 더불어 강릉을 상징하는 대표적인 관광지이다. 거울같이 맑아서 '경호(鏡湖)'라고도 한 경포호수를 두고 송강 정철은 관동별곡에서 "이보다 갖춘 데 또 어디 있단 말인가"라고 할만큼 빼어난 경관을 자랑한다. 이처럼 자연경관이 뛰어난 경포 해수욕장 일원에 강원도에선 유일한 6성급 호텔에 준하는 '씨마크 호텔(경포대 현대호텔)'이 오는 6월 26일 그랜드 오픈을 한다. 현대중공업이 조성 중인 경포대 현대호텔은 강문동 옛 현대호텔 부지(5만$144m^2$)에 지상 15층, 지하 4층 규모로 150개의 객실과 컨벤션센터, 야외공연장, 수영장, 전시장, 한옥호텔 등을 갖추고 있다. 우리나라 호텔 중 가장 아름다운 해변경관을 갖췄다는 평가를 받고 있는 경포대 현대호텔은 세계적인 건축가로 꼽히는 리처드 마이어와 제임스 코너가 설계를 맡아 화제를 모았었다. 특히 리차드 마이어의 백색 건축물은 강릉 앞바다의 풍경과 어우러져 아름다운 절경을 만들어냈다고 평가받고 있다. 오는 2018년 평창에서 개최되는 동계올림픽이 열리면 약 30분 거리에 겨울바다를 조망할 수 있는 경포대 현대호텔의 대형 연회장에서 다양한 행사를 개최, 경포대를 전 세계에 알릴 수 있는 기회가 될 것이며 숙박난 해소 등 동계올림픽의 성공적인 개최에 이바지할 전망이다. 본지는 5월 30일 준공을 향해 막바지 작업에 심혈을 기울이고 있는 경포대 현대호텔 현장에서 현대건설 손정모 설비공구장과 무경설비(주)[대표 김원열] 유경열 소장을 만났다.

In "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," Flannery O'Connor describes a striking journey of a family, in which all the members dramatically get killed. Through the tragic death of Bailey's family, O'Connor evokes the reader to think about life and the life after death. Growing up in the communities of Catholicism and Protestantism, O'Connor herself had agonized with the same question between the two types of Christian belief throughout her life. In the story, O'Connor embodies her anguish with the major characters and questions the reader about the meaning of Christian salvation. More specifically, Bailey's family represent the people who get lost in life. They live without any direction and purpose. Red Sammy and his wife, on the other hand, provide travellers with rest, food, and the necessaries. The Tower is a shelter of travellers in life; however, it is not everlasting but temporary. The Misfit, exemplifying religious stragglers, has been completely frustrated with the variance of Christian salvation theories, and no longer practices the religion but knows enough to justify his cruel behaviors. Finally, the grandmother is the manipulator and opportunist of the religion. All those characters are fragments of human characters and their life - obscene and transitory. In the story, there is little God's grace on the surface even though the writer claims "all my stories are about the action of grace." Nonetheless, the reader should be able to identify with those characters because they are the mirror images of themselves. While visualizing the characters, O'Connor wants the reader to have a moment to think about the "Righteousness," and ultimately to seek out God's grace that she essentially wishes to show the reader. Instead of showing God's grace directly, O'Connor ultimately leads the reader to consider about God and the grace as she/he reads the work.

The reconstructed images from highly compressed MPEG or H.263 data have noticeable image degradations, such as blocking artifacts near the block boundaries, corner outliers at cross points of blocks, and ringing noise near image edges, because the MPEG or H.263 quantizes the transformed coefficients of 8$\times$8 pixel blocks. A post-processing algorithm has been proposed by authors to reduce quantization effects, such as blocking artifacts, corner outliers, and ringing noise, in MPEG-decompressed images. Our signal-adaptive post-processing algorithm reduces the quantization effects adaptively by using both spatial frequency and temporal information extracted from the compressed data. The blocking artifacts are reduced by one-dimensional (1-D) horizontal and vertical low pass filtering (LPF), and the ringing noise is reduced by two-dimensional (2-D) signal-adaptive filtering (SAF). A comparison study of the subjective quality evaluation using modified single stimulus method (MSSM), the objective quality evaluation (PSNR) and the computation complexity analysis between the signal-adaptive post-processing algorithm and the MPEG-4 VM (Verification Model) post-processing algorithm is performed by computer simulation with several MPEG-4 image sequences. According to the comparison study, the subjective image qualities of both algorithms are similar, whereas the PSNR and the comparison complexity analysis of the signal-adaptive post-processing algorithm shows better performance than the VM post-processing algorithm.

Mathematics textbooks as the main resources to support mathematical teaching and learning are used importantly in Korean lessons. Although the scope of mathematics textbook research has been expanded and the research has increased, few studies have analyzed the overall trends of mathematics textbook research in Korea. This study analyzes the overall trends of textbook research on 418 papers pertinent to mathematics textbooks published in domestic mathematics education journals. The results of this study showed that the proportion of textbook analysis research was the highest, followed by textbook use and textbook development research in order. There were more textbook studies at the elementary school level than at the middle or high school levels. Regarding textbook analysis studies, the most frequent topic was to analyze how specific mathematical concepts were presented in textbooks. Regarding textbook use studies, many studies asked both teachers and students to review the appropriateness of textbooks under development or analyzed the perception and use of specific activities of textbooks based on a survey. Regarding textbook development studies, the most popular topics included the directions and examples of new development, such as storytelling-based or electronic textbooks. This paper finally presented implications for textbook research in light of the domestic mathematics education context and the international mathematics textbook research trends.
