  • The precipitable water vapor (PW) was estimated using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) from several GNSS stations within the Korean Peninsula. Nearby radiosonde sites covering the GNSS stations were used for the comparison and validation of test results. GNSS data recorded under typical and severe weather conditions were used to generalize our approach. Based on the analysis, we have confirmed that the derived PW values from the GNSS observables were well agreed on the estimates from the radiosonde observables within 10 mm level. Assuming that the GNSS observables could be a good weather monitoring tool, we further tested the performance of the current WAAS tropospheric delay model, UNB3, in the Korean Peninsula. Especially, the wet zenith delays estimated from the GNSS observables and from UNB3 delay model were compared. Test results showed that the modelled approach for the troposphere (i.e., UNB3) did not perform well especially under the wet weather conditions in the Korean Peninsula. It was suggested that a new model or a near real-time model (e.g., based on regional model from GNSS or numerical weather model) would be highly desirable for the Korean WA-DGNSS to minimize the effects of the tropospheric delay and hence to achieve high precision vertical navigation solutions.

  • This paper describes the re-design and the calibration results of the MAG digital circuit onboard the KSR-3. We enhanced the sampling rate of magnetometer data. Also, we reduced noise and increased authoritativeness of data. We could confirm that AIM resolution was decreased less than InT of analog calibration by a digital calibration of magnetometer. Therefore, we used numerical-program to correct this problem. As a result, we could calculate correction and error of data. These corrections will be applied to magnetometer data after the launch of KSR-3.

  • The remote sensing technique was applied to enhance the water qualify model validation in a large water body. Since the satellite image usually covers the wide surface area of a large water body, it can compensate for the lark of measured data points required for model calibration and verification. This paper describes the analysis of Landsat FTM+images collected on April 29th and September 4th in year 2000 to evaluate surface water temperature of Lake Paldang. The water temperature data obtained from the satellite image were compared with model results by estimating three different methods of error criteria. The residual ratios on April 29th and September 4th were 0.13 and 0.04 respectively. This showed that the model result accords with the data obtained from the process of satellite image. Without considering atmospheric interference, however, transformation process of satellite image causes relatively large residual ratio in the surface water temperature distribution pattern on April 29th. In the future study, therefore, the atmospheric properties of image acquisition point needs to be considered for the application of radiance transformation model.

  • In this paper, the performances of modeling methods for combining corrections from multiple reference stations for network user were compared and analyzed. The longer the distance between reference station and user is, the more the GPS errors are decorrelated. Based on this point, multiple corrections from reference stations which is constituting a network should be combined properly to be applied for user observation to eliminate GPS errors. There are many widely used conventional modeling methods and they are applied for Compact Network RTK users and user position accuracy is predicted by using residual errors in observation of user. Compact Network RTK is a technique of generating corrections which was developed by Seoul National University. As a result, the horizontal and vertical accuracies were within about 5 cm and 7 cm respectively with 95 % probability for all conventional modeling methods. In addition, we analyzed condition for reference station constellation for modeling method using height information.

  • This study was analysed the characteristis of traveling vehicles using the collected data by DGPS receiver. These data were checked the vehicle position in every 2 seconds and compared with GIS digital map after correcting the errors. These are compared travel speed and running speed overall and analysed the stopping vehicle in the middle of travelling. The stopping frequency, stopping time and stopping factor was analysed. The X, Y coordinates positioning of DGPS received data about stopping vehicle was analysed. DGPS receiver didn't position at first but positioned it exactly as time went. This study carried out the basic study about travel characteristics with digital map and DGPS received data. Few studies which applied advanced technology like GIS & DGPS have been executed. I hope that the more study will be executed in this traffic field.

  • The subjects of this study are to examine and to apply the methods of making 1 : 10,000 scale digital maps using Russian's 2 m resolution satellite images of Alternative and 8 m resolution stereo satellite images of MK-4 for the Kyoha area of Paju-city where aerial-photo surveying is not possible. A digital elevation model (DEM) was calculated from MK-4 images. With this DEM, the Alternative images were orthorectified. Ground control points (GCP) were acquired from GPS surveyings and were used to perform geometric corrections on Alternative images. From field investigation, thematic attributes are digitized on the monitor. RMS errors of the planar and vertical positions are estimated to ${\pm}0.4$ m and ${\pm}15$ m, respectively. The planar accuracy is better than an accuracy required by NGIS (national GIS) programs. Local information from field investigation was added and the resulting maps should be good as base maps for, such as, regional and urban plannings.

  • The objective of this study is to estimate and to compensate far the volumetric error of a workpiece influenced by the geometric error of a machine tool. In this paper, the volumetric error is defined and the error synthesis model is presented. Then, the volumetric error of workpiece is calculated and compared through the simulation, and a new tool-path is generated to compensate for the error in the post-processor of CAM system using the error synthesis model. By this method, the error is compensated without modification or replacement of a machine tool being in use.

  • In 2013, NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) has developed and provided the KNGeoid13(Korean National Geoid Model 2013) to support the fundamental computation of GNSS-derived orthometric height. In this study, the adjusted ellipsoidal height, the sum of geoidal height and height by the leveling, is applied to calculate the GNSS-derived orthometric height without the local bias, based on GNSS static surveying and KNGeoid13. The mean of errors in GNSS-derived orthometric heights could be verified with the leveling data, which was actually less than 0.5 cm with using the adjusted ellipsoidal heights, but 3 cm by calculating differences between ellipsoidal heights and geoidal heights. By analyze the accuracy of GNSS-derived orthometric height depending on the duration of observation, we could realized 95% of data shows less than 4 cm accuracy, when the GNSS survey conducting for 4 hours spread over two days, but while the case of GNSS survey conducting for 4 hours and 2 hours respectively, resulted in 95% of data less than 5cm level of accuracy. Also, if the ambiguity is fixed, less than 10cm of accuracy could be obtained at 95% of data for only 30 minutes GNSS survey over a day. Following the study, we expected that the height determination by GNSS and geoid models can be used in the public benchmark surveying.
