A Study on the Measure for Prevention of Marine Pollution due to the Coastal Activities (해안활동으로 인한 해양오염방지 방안 마련 연구)

  • This study was carried out for the purpose of proposing the guideline for the non-mischief and comfortable coastal leisure activities to reduce the marine pollution caused by sea fishing and strengthen the marine management and supervision for the fishing activity. In research method, a extensive reference was examined and analyzed, and the questionnaire investigation and field work were carried out to recognize the present conditions and problems concerning the environmental pollution caused by sea fishing. At the same time, the guideline for the safe and comfortable activities was proposed by diagnosing of actual evil conditions of marine environment due to the sea fishing activity and by analyzing of foreign mangement cases. On the basis of these research results, it is useful to contrive a management criteria for the realities investigation on the pollution of coastal activities. It also contributes to develop the regional economy by controlling coastal leisure activities effectively and systematically through the national publicity for the prevention of marine pollution.

  • The most likely influenced by the oil pollution at the sea is the fisheries industry, because if the destruction if the marine ecological system The rate if compensation for damage from IOPC Fund due to the incident if oil pollution is more or less $20\%$, which is remarkably lower than those cf our adjacent nations or European nations. The reason such a low rate cf compensation is that it is not easy to take evidences if changed caused by oil pollution requested by IOPC Fund due to the environments if our fisheries. Therefore unless the environments if our fisheries is changed completely, it is very difficult to get actual compensation for damages under the existing system, considering the results if the oil pollution damage compensation claim cases up to now. In this study tried to identify the actual benefits of 03FC convention that raises the upper limit if the compensation while keeping the criterion for compensation And proposed to supplement the compensation system of damage caused by oil pollution with analyzing the actual status if compensation from. IOPC Fund for the our oil pollution incidents and the judgment if Supreme Court on the case if oil. pollution acident in Keumdong No.5.

  • Along with rapid industrial development, toxic chemicals have been discharged extensively into the environment. Many of them have flowed into the soil which is final acceptor of environmental pollutants. As a result, they have deteriorated soil and groundwater environment. Once the soil and groundwater were contaminated by pollutants, these media can not be easily restored without artificial remediation. Foreign countries which accomplished earlier industrialization compared to our country have invested enormous capital for the remediation of contaminated sites and the development of relevant technology. In our country the reserch on the development of remediation technology has been conducted for several years, but it is still in its initial stage. This report represents remediation technologies, their adaptability and clean up procedure etc. which are being used for the managenent of contaminated site in advanced countries.

Studies on Bacterial and Fungal Contamination in the Herbal Medicines (한약재에서의 세균과 진균 오염에 관한 연구)

  • The study has been done for about two months through June 2 to July 30 of 2010. The study subjects are three herbal-pharmaceutical companies located in Seoul. Each of them purchased thirteen types of medicinal herbs, then the study did analysis for microbial contamination status of bacteria and fungi. Here, the study focuses on settling out fundamental data bases regarding the investigation standards of microbial contamination. As comparing the study results with contamination limits of bacteria and fungi which are represented by $10^7$ CFU/g and $10^4$ CFU/g in number respectively, the total percentage of fungi contamination which is 12.8% is higher than that of bacteria is only 7.7%. In the DNA homology analysis regarding 16S rRNA gene, 117 of colonization have been selected as study subjects. Including B. cereus composing of resistant spores, soil microbes account for approximately 96.6%. It indicates that it is important to establish collection and preservation systems in handling medicinal herbs. Also, it is critical to manage microbial contamination limits. In conclusion, the study proposes the needs to study on possible mingling of bacteria and fungi in manufacturing process, and microbial contamination status in medicinal herbs.
