A Study on the Users' Awareness of Waterfront in Japan - Focusing on Yokohama Minatomirai21 area - (일본 워터프런트 공간에 있어서 수변공간의식에 대한 연구 ~요코하마 미나토미라이21지구를 대상으로~)

  • Using a questionnaire, this study examined the users' consciousness through the human five senses on the waterside space in the district of Minato Mirai 21, Yokohama located in the east of Kanagawa prefecture, which is well known for its waterfront in Japan. Among the users, the results of the questionnaire showed 52.2% of male, and 29.6% accounted for people in their twenties as the dominant groups. Out of the nineteen questions regarding the consciousness on the waterside space, 'feel the sea breeze' accounted for 237(78.7%) while 'the sea is visible' accounted for 217(72.1%). Then, the contents of the nineteen questions were re-classified into such seven items as the human five senses(sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell), activities, and the existence of facilities, discovering the consciousness of the users. The results demonstrated that touch(22.9%) and sight(20.8%) respectively were the most influential items.

  • In a digital multimedia environment with various experiences and communication, We live in an age where it is possible to experience from imagination to reality realizable by imagination. The remarkable technology based on ICT has been attracting attention as next generation video service technology from 3DTV, UHD TV, and hologram. These media, combined with space design, are able to offer us amazing and diverse experiences. In addition, now, there is a demand for more differentiated contents using human five senses recognition technology. We analyzed the application of realistic contents to space design. As a result, we have come to the conclusion that creative production which can express more fun and convenient will be an important issue.

  • This study was to develope a vibrotactile display system using windows media player from digital audio signal. WMPlayer10SDK system which was plug-in tool by microsoft windows media player provided its video and audio signal information. The audio signal was tried to be change into vibrotactile display. Audio signal had 4 sections such as 8bit, 16bit, 24bit, and 32bit. Each section was computed its frequency and vibrato scale. And data was transferred to 38400bps network port(COM1) for vibration. Using this system was able to develop the music suit which presented tactile feeling of music beyond sound. Therefore, it may provide cross modal technology for fusion technology of human senses.

  • Ubiquitous computer can be interfaced with many several peripheral devices for information acquisition. Users should be able to easily use these devices without considering when these devices were interfaced, how to use these devices, and interoperability issues (such as plug and play, the installation of device drivers, and so on). Further, computers and their users need an interface technology that provides five-senses information (the recognition and expressions of the user) such that multimodal interaction can be enabled. In this paper, we proposed an IEEE 1451 standard that uses a smart interface standard for interfacing devices with ubiquitous computer. IEEE 1451 describes the property information of a transducer in the transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS). Further, by using the TEDS format, the interoperability between devices can be enabled by means of the plug-and-play function; it also makes the inconvenient installations of device drivers unnecessary.

  • Existing sports simulators on the market focus on the motion of platform or reality expression using basic visual contents, and are limited to entertainment products. Therefore, the stimulus on 5 senses is not good enough to be applied on high virtual reality. Moreover, there are not enough professional contents to be applied to an educational sports simulator. In this paper, we developed a sport platform by separating the multi axis based common platform module and the sports application module. We designed the common platform which has 4 degrees of freedom such as surge, sway, heave and yaw motion. This platform has the purpose of stabilizing motion and minimizing interference. The changeable sport module which is attached to the common module has 2 degrees of freedom such as roll and pitch, so that it can be applied to the various fields of 2 degrees of freedom virtual reality sports such as horse riding and yacht.

  • There are always possibilities for conflicts among individuals, between individuals and groups, and among groups because of the complex and diverse nature of contemporary society. Some form of bodyguard is required to protect oneself from this constant possibility of conflicts and thus the concept of security was developed to meet the needs of one's safety. Furthermore, the increase in the number of crime and intellectual crimes now threatens not only the people with power, fortune, reputation but also all citizens. Meeting the need for safety became a challenging task for the world and a security-related industry as well as security-related careers were born. Therefore, schools and security institutions must provide education and training to nurture morality and stable psychological condition for their students/trainees. In order to offer them such working and educational environments, utilizing the sixth-sense the five senses is recommended and it is called security psychology training. This study identifies the psychology, the five senses, and the sixth sense of bodyguards while on duty and explores the training and education contents to utilize the sixth sense.

  • 2007년에는 인터넷의 광고비가 잡지의 광고비를 추월했다. 이런 현상은 전자미디어의 활용이 지속적으로 확대되고 있으며 다매체 미디어 시대로 전환되고 있다는 것을 뜻한다. 그런 가운데 인쇄의 유효성은 다시 각광 받고 있다. 다른 미디어가 할 수 없는 오감에 호소하는 특수한 인쇄 및 가공을 활용함으로써 부가가치를 창출하는데 유용하다는 인식이 확산되고 있는 것이다. 최근 들어 관심을 끌고 있는 제품과 기법을 소개한다.

  • 과거 상표제도에서는 단순히 문자와 도형, 기호로 이루어진 형태만을 보호하였지만, 오늘날 인간의 오감을 이용한 독특한 마케팅전략과 새로운 기술의 등장 소비자 욕구의 다양화로 인해 과거의 전형적인 형태와 다른 새로운 형태가 상표로서의 기능을 수행하기 시작했다. 따라서 국내 도입을 준비 중인 소리상표와 냄새상표에 대해서 소개하고, 추가적으로 해외에서 보호를 받고 있는 위치상표에 대해서도 소개를 하고자 한다.
