  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the perception on science and scientists of the teachers who are engaged in the special education for the scientifically gifted, science-gifted students and their parents. For this study, 34 teachers, 222 students and 107 parents answered the questionnaire of the perception on science and Draw-A-Science-Test (DAST). The result showed that the three groups generally had a sound recognition but the score of recognition about a 'nature of science' was lower than other domains. The science-gifted students had less cognition about 'science and society' than their teachers and parents, but they had more positive perception about 'science learning' than their parents significantly. All of the three groups had the stereotyped image of scientist. About the internal images of scientists, three groups had a similar perception, and they showed higher scores in the cognitive aspect than emotional or ethical aspects. And the science-gifted students showed the significantly higher scores than their teachers and parents in diligence, imaginative power, concern about other people, respect for other's opinion, humor, artistic sense, respect for human, desire for peace. Three groups turned out to be influenced by movie, science journal, and biography as a source of scientist's image, but their contribution was different among groups.

  • Researches on prodigies and education for those have recently been progressing in many fields. Education for the gifted, which was basically on Math and Science on the start, now includes Intelligence, Invention, Cultural Sciences, Art, and so on. With the progression towards extremely developed information society, interests in and importance on the courses for the talented get more and more focused. The problem is, however, choosing the gifted and educating them is not an easy matter, since the history of Intelligence Technology is relatively short and it is hard to identify prodigies and categorize what kinds of courses they need. Also, from 2010 "Science Education Institute for the Gifted" freshmen draft, paper-based admission test has been discarded and teacher-recommendation through long-term observation introduced. Therefore needs have been increasing for quality selection methods including observation records, recommendation letters, and portfolios. Reformation on teaching and creative selection methods has been accentuated because of lack of academic base for selecting candidates for education for the gifted. Because of all those mentioned above, reliances for the selection processes during the last three years and the one in 2010, observation records, recommendations and portfolios included, have been analyzed and evaluated. Several factors which can be used instead of paper-based tests were coordinated. Based on it, it was highly possible and has been successful to draft all the applicants in cognitive, sentimental, and creative fields.

  • The Inseong Au-Ag and base metal deposit, located in Chungchengbuk-do, Korea, consists of series of quartz veins filling fissures. The deposit occurs in Hwanggangri meta-sediment formation, a lime pebble-bearing phyllite, in the Okcheon Supergroup. Abundant ore minerals in the deposit are pyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena. The gangue minerals are quartz, calcite and chlorite. Hydrothermal alteration such as chlorization, silicitication, sericitization and carbonitization can be observed around the quartz veins. 4 vein stages can be distinguished based on its paragenetic sequence, vein structure, alteration features and ore minerals. Microthermometry of the fluid inclusion assemblages occur in the veins are conducted to reconstruct a hydrothermal P-T evolution. Fluid inclusions in clean and barren quartz vein in stage 1 have Th of $270{\sim}342^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 1.7~6.4 (NaCl eqiv.) wt%. Euhedral quartz crystal in stage 2 have Th of $108{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.5~7.5 wt%. Barren milky quartz vein in stage 3 have Th of $174{\sim}380^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.8~7.5 wt%. Calcite vein in stage 4 have Th of $103{\sim}265^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.7~6.4 wt%. Calculated paleodepth about 0.5~1.5 km (hydrostatic pressure) indicate epithermal ore-forming condition. Shallow depth but relatively high-T hydrothermal fluids possibly create a steep geothermal gradient, sufficient for base metal precipitation in the Inseong deposit.

  • The study aims to analyze teachers' perception of the "personality" area, which can be subjective in the in-depth interview process of selecting gifted children and is easily shunned due to its weak immediate effect. To this end, First, when asked about their difficulties as gifted teachers, many of them answered "professionalism and workload" and cited personality as the most important area to address in-depth interviews in selecting gifted students. It also recognized that personality interviews are necessary for the most basic virtues of education and social contribution, and cited cooperation, consideration, and concession as the sub-components to be dealt with in the personality interview. It was necessary to check whether each student's capabilities were evaluated in a variety of ways in an in-depth interview of the teacher's observing and recommending system. And it needed to be supplemented by in-depth observations such as the development of a valid question, camp or debate in the evaluation of the personality area. In order to reflect the needs of the education field, it will be necessary to supplement the personality interview in the gifted children's selection. And there is also a need to continue to study how to guide the personality education of already selected gifted children.
