Dentin dysplasia is a rare hereditary disturbance characterized by a dental anomaly of the dentin layer. The etiology is unclear, and this rare hereditary disturbance affects approximately one person in every 100,000. Dentin dysplasia is classified into two types, radicular dentin dysplasia as type I and coronal dentin dysplasia as type II. The characteristic clinical findings of dentin dysplasia type I are normal appearance of the crown and hypermobility of teeth. The radiographic findings are obliteration of all pulp canals, short, blunted and malformed or absent roots. Dentin dysplasia type II as coronal dentin dysplasia shows similar clinical features with dentinogensis imperfecta. This report shows a case of dentin dysplasia type I affecting one family except the father. The clinical, radiographic and histopathologic findings of this family are presented. Dentin dysplasia type I is difficult to diagnose unless dentist performs radiographic examination. If the affecting patient does not get regular dental care, dental abscesses or cysts may form spontaneously without caries. In this regard, early diagnosis is important to prevent premature loss of dentition.
The purposed of this study was to examine the relation between dental hygienists' treatment posture and body pain by surveying 120 dental hygienists working at dental hospitals and clinics in Busan and to suggest desirable treatment postures and pain prevention methods for dental hygienists' health and job performance. Data obtained from the questionnaire survey were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for Windows. The taller the hygienists were the less pains they had in their 'back' and 'hips' (p<0.05). The shorter the hygienists were the more pains they had in their 'back,' 'waist,' 'hips,' 'legs' and 'ankles/feet'(p<0.05). There was no difference in pains in each body part according to weight. In the results of analyzing correlations among pains in different body parts, a very strong positive correlation was observed between the pains in the 'knees' and 'legs' (r=0.71)(p<0.01). The hygienists of 56.7% had experience in education on treatment posture, and 62.5% were not doing exercise regularly. To the question on what should be done for health welfare in their workplace, the hygienists of 47.9% mentioned improvement in the environment of the workplace.
As a result of having surveyed and analyzed recognition and requirement of dental hygienists for Academic Credit Bank System, the recognition on Academic Credit Bank System accounted for 70.8%, and in terms of information media recognized, surrounding people were the highest with 52.4%. And, in case of the response as saying of being willing to participate, an opportunity of acquiring a bachelor's degree accounted for 24.0%, and in case of the response as saying of being unwilling to participate, the lack of time that will take part in education activity accounted for 13.7%, thereby having been surveyed to be the most preferential choice, respectively. The importance by sphere in course programs was indicated to be the sphere of preventive dental treatment with 3.61, the sphere of dental management with 3.38, the sphere of oral health education with 3.09, the sphere of medical-treatment coordination with 2.82, and the sphere of community dental health with 2.11 in order. The importance by field of sphere in course programs was indicated to be high in the field of oral health education by subject with 2.30 for the field of sphere in oral health education, in the field of plaque control and oral prophylaxis with 3.53 for the field of sphere in preventive dental treatment, in the field of management of the fluoride mouth-rinsing programme with 2.86 for the field of sphere in community dental health, in the field of counselling with 3.24 for the field of sphere in dental management, and in the field of medical-treatment assistance with 1.53 for the field of sphere in medical-treatment coordination.

The clinical institution of some dental hygiene students and the degree of practice and performance according to the practice contents are identified, so as to develop clinical practice guidelines and to improve the education of universities and practical institutions. From November 2016 to March 2017, the questionnaire was prepared by self-inclusion after explaining the purpose of research and how to prepare questionnaire to some dental hygiene students. This material has been analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. As for the clinical practice content items of basic care and infection control, the frequency of "execution" among practice methods was high, and the distribution rate was high in oral evil face radiation, preventive dentistry, prosthesis, periodontology, orthodontics, and oral internal medicine. The conservation department has conducted various practical methods such as "executing," "observing" and "preparing." Oral surgery showed similar distribution rates, such as "observation," "preparation," and "execution" in the "preparation and cooperation of the feet." In pediatric dentistry, "observation" was the most common practice, and among them, "observation," "preparation," and "execution" were performed in "preparation and cooperation for infantile development." In addition, students with more experience in clinical practice showed statistically significant differences in basic care, oral hygiene, preventative dentistry, conservation, dental dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, and oral internal medicine(p<0.05). Most clinical practice shows that it is more observable than performed. It is expected that the goal of clear clinical practice content should be set by grade or number of clinical practice experiences, as well as the practice method that can be performed by the trainees.

This study was to identify the obesity(BMI), health practices and oral health behaviors of university students and provide basic data for the development of a health promotion program for healthy campus communities. Total 177 students filled out a self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed for descriptive statistics, chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression to evaluate the effects of health practice and oral behaviors on obesity. This study shows that the prevalence of obesity was 27.7%. Univarate analysis demonstrated that gender, age, the preference of salt, sleep in every day, self-perceived general health, the visiting the dentist during the past year were significantly different according to BMI. In multivariable regression, preference of salt, sleep in every day, the visiting the dentist during the past year were independent predictors of BMI, after adjustment of gender and age. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of obesity prevention program in overall, eating habit, mental health and oral health behavior in students.

The purpose of this study was to survey visiting health care personnel who worked for their public medical health institutions and thereby investigate their oral health knowledge and behavior. Findings of this study are summarized as follow; First, our visiting health care personnel had a significant tendency toward higher score at correct answers to questions about oral health knowledge (mean knowledge about periodontal disease: 67%, mean knowledge about dental caries: 68%, mean knowledge about common dentistry: 68.4% or higher). Secondly, in terms of oral health care behavior, 50% or higher of all our visiting health care personnel visited dental clinic for preventive purposes, and 60.1% visited dental clinic for oral treatment. 46.6% of health care personnel relied on dental clinic for regular scaling services, and 89.6% relied on general hospital or dental clinic for oral treatment. 89.5% of health care personnel brushed their teeth 3 times or more per day; more than half (58%) of them preferred dental floss to other oral hygiene supplies; and 46% practiced roll technique to brush their teeth. Thirdly, health care personnel's oral health knowledge was significantly correlated with their age (F=5.25, p<0.01) and career of health care (F=3.94, p<0.01), while their oral health behavior was significantly associated with their career of visiting health care (F=3.20, p< 0.05).
The purpose of this study was to examine the satisfaction level of parents with elementary school students in some metropolitan areas with the pit and fissure sealing program in a bid to raise awareness of the importance of the preventive treatment and accelerate the spread of it. The subjects in this study were 231 parents who had school children and resided in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. After a self-administered survey was conducted in October and November 2008, the collected data were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows; 1. As to places for receiving the preventive treatment, 111 respondents (48.1%) experienced pit and fissure sealing in dental clinics, and 88 respondents(38.1%) did that in dental hospitals. 177 people(76.6%) received that treatment from dentists, and 16 respondents(11.3%) did that from dental hygienists. 2. Concerning whether to be for or against the pit and fissure sealing program, more than half that numbered 143(61.9%) supported that program, and 88 respondents(38.1%) didn't. As for satisfaction level, they expressed the biggest satisfaction with the preventive effect of that treatment($3.92{\pm}.85$), and were least satisfied with the cost($1.91{\pm}.86$). 3. Regarding links between general characteristics and satisfaction level, they were statistically significantly different in satisfaction level with the cost according to residential area and the number of child, and age made a statistically significant difference to their satisfaction level with the preventive effect of it. 4. As for relationship between warranty term and whether to be for the pit and fissure sealing program or not, 45(31.5%) out of those who supported the program were provided with no warranty, and 32(36.4%) out of those who took a stand against it were provided with no warranty, either. Warranty was provided to 12(8.4%) respondents of the former group without a fixed term, but that's not the case for any of the latter. The warranty term made statistically significant differences to their agreement or disagreement to the program(p<0.05).

Esophageal atresia is the abnormal development of the esophagus that connects the mouth to the stomach. This birth defect results in the incomplete connection of the esophagus to the stomach causing an inability to swallow properly and breathing difficulties. Surgery is the only treatment for esophageal atresia. Patients undergone an esophageal reconstruction usually suffer from gastroesophageal reflex. A 5-year old boy with congenital esophageal atresia and Sciwitar syndrome visited Seoul National University Dental Hospital because generalized excessive loss of tooth structure. The patient had history of multiple operations for reconstruct esophagus. He had little food intake experience thought oral and had difficulty to swallowing. The patient was generalized severe erosive and decayed state. For patient, the dental procedure under general anesthesia was scheduled due to the multiple caries with erosion and poor cooperation. Under general anesthesia, pulpectomy and restoration as well as extraction was performed. Gastroesophageal reflex is potentially serious condition, with various extraesophageal adverse effects such as dental erosion. To prevent progression of dental caries, dietary counselling and oral hygiene instruction should be reinforced. Also, restorations to erosive teeth will maintain esthetics and function and preserve pulp vitality.

Cerebral palsy(CP) is a motor disorder of the central nervous system resulting from irreversible brain injury due to congenital or acquired causes. Health-related quality of their life is associated with severity of impairment and socioeconomic factors. These patients are particularly easy to be neglected because they lack capacity to care themselves unless they have the help of caregiver from high socioeconomic status. A 11-year-old girl with severe motor impairment came with the chief complaint of severe calculus deposition on whole dentition. She was taken with bed-ridden state with pediatrician not her parents. Since brain was damaged at the age of two, she has been left alone in the city care hospitals without parental care. Main caregiver is her father with not high educational level. Oral hygiene was not performed at all. Severe calculus deposition, gingival swelling, and gingival redness around the whole dentition were observed. During the 1st and 2nd visit, scaling and extraction was performed. CP patients with low socioeconomic status and severe motor impairment tend to be neglected from dental treatment. Dental care, along with medical care, is crucial to the quality of CP patients' lives. Therefore it is important that they visit for regular dental check ups and receive preventative care.
To investigate the correlation between the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases and psychosocial factors in dental professionals in Chungcheong province, a self-administered survey was conducted on 206 dental professionals in Chungcheong province from March 9th, 2009 to March 28th, 2009. SPSS WIN 12.0 software was used to analyze the data and the following results were obtained. 1. As for the perceived symptom degree of musculoskeletal diseases based on measured body parts, the frequency of 'high' was the highest in all the parts of the body. 2. As for gender, females showed higher interest in musculoskeletal diseases than males (p=.000). As for age, subjects ranged 26~30 years showed the highest interest in musculoskeletal diseases, which was statistically significant (p=.000). 3. Work satisfaction showed a positive correlation with the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases in lumbar group and lower extremity group. Work stress showed a weak negative correlation with the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases in lumbar group and lower extremity group. Coworker satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in upper extremity group and lower extremity group. Hospital satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in upper extremity group, lumbar group and lower extremity group. Working environment satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in neck group, shoulder group, upper extremity group and lower extremity group. This study showed a correlation between psychosocial factors and the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases based on body parts. Therefore, psychosocial factors should be considered when the prevention and management program of musculoskeletal diseases are developed.
