This study examined the effects of infants' and toddlers' temperament and mothers' parenting self-efficacy on parenting behavior. Two hundred and thirty-two mothers with infants and toddlers completed the questionnaires regarding children's temperament, parenting self-efficacy and parenting behavior. The collected data were analysed by correlations and pathway analysis. The results were as follows: First, infants' and toddlers' temperament directly and indirectly through mothers' parenting self-efficacy affected affectionate and permissive-uninvolved parenting behavior. Second, mothers' parenting self-efficacy directly affected affectionate, authoritarian and permissive-uninvolved parenting behavior and mediated between children's temperament and mothers' parenting behavior. Additionally the most important variable predicting mothers' affectionate and permissive-uninvolved parenting behavior was infants' and toddlers' temperament, and the most important variable for authoritarian parenting behavior was mothers' parenting self-efficacy.
The objective of the study is to find out the effects of toddler's temperament and mother's parenting behavior on the development of vocabulary ability. The study was conducted with 299 infants between the ages of 18 and 24 months and their mothers in 47 day care centers in I city, Jeollabukdo. The results of the study are as follows. First, according to the correlation between infant's temperament and vocabulary based on the composition of temperament, approach-avoidance, adaptability, and mood showed a negative correlation with receptive and expressive vocabulary, and response intensity showed a positive correlation with receptive vocabulary. Second, according to the relation between mother's parenting behavior and infant's vocabulary ability based on the sub-factors of mother's parenting behavior, instructional parenting behavior and setting-limits parenting behavior showed a positive correlation with receptive and expressive vocabulary. Third, according to the effects of infant's temperament and mother's parenting behavior on the development of infant's vocabulary ability, as for the understanding of vocabulary, the explanation power of approach-avoidance is the highest, followed by instructional parenting behavior, response intensity, and mood. As for expressive vocabulary, the explanation power of instructional parenting behavior is the highest, followed by mood, response intensity and activity. In the development of infant's vocabulary ability, it was found that receptive vocabulary was affected the most by approach-avoidance, and expressive vocabulary was affected the most by instructional parenting behavior. Mothers will have to have interrelation skills suitable for temperament for the development of infant's receptive vocabulary, and have parenting behavior expressing the traits of things and events for the development of expressive vocabulary.

This study examined the effects of the mothers' sense of humor, ego-resilience on the maternal behavior. 187 mothers of 24~36 month old children completed the questionnaires. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, Pearson's co-relation and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were as follows. First, concerning the mothers' personal variables, the mean of the sense of humor, ego-resilience, and maternal behavior were relatively high. Second, the mothers' sense of humor and its sub-scales, except as a copying strategy, and ego-resilience had a positive co-relation with the maternal behavior and its sub-scales. Lastly, the mothers' sense of humor and its sub-scales, and ego-resilience were significant variables to influence the maternal behavior. As stated above, the ways were discussed to improve the mothers' sense of humor and ego-resilience.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of mothers' parenting stress according to the knowledge and behaviors that mothers have on infant development. The subjects of this study are 145 mothers whose infants range in age from 18 to 36 months. The instruments used are: 1) Knowledge of Child Development Inventory (KCDI) (Larsen & Juhasz, 1986), 2) Q-sort modified by Ahn (2001), 3) Parenting Stress Scale (PSS) (Kim & Kang, 1997), and a demographic questionnaire. The data analyses used SPSS 12.0 which employs basic statistics, a reliability test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. The results of this study indicate a correlation (r= -.20*) between behaviors of child-rearing and parenting stress of mothers. Specifically, mothers behaviors of child-rearing related to cognition development could predict parenting stress.

To this study, We used of Korea Institute of Child Care and Education's "Panel Survey of Korea Child; 2009" data. The subjects of mothers of 11~18 months infants 1,467(M=739, F=728). In order to analyze collected data, Person correlation analysis, regression/path analysis were used. The results of the study were as follows: First, the correlations among social support, marital conflict, self-efficacy, and mothers' parenting stress were between -.475 and .401, which are all significant on the level of within p<.01. Of those the correlation between the variable of self-efficacy, and mothers' parenting stress was shown highest as of -.475. Second, the correlations among these variables and mothers' parenting behaviors of infants were between -.484 and .350(all, p<.01). Mothers' parenting stress shows the highest correlations of all, next social support, self-efficacy, marital conflict in order. Third, multiple-correlation of .533, which explains at 28.4 percentage of total variance of the mothers' parenting behaviors. And -.396 in the degree of mothers' parenting stress, which explains at 15.7 percentage of the total variance of the mothers' parenting behaviors, while .223 in social support(4.97%). But marital conflict has not direct effects but indirect effects.
Parenting knowledge is regarded as an important variable influencing parenting style. This study investigated the parenting knowledge of mothers with infants and analyzed how this knowledge influenced their parenting style. The mothers’ parenting efficacy was included in the analysis as a mediator between parenting knowledge and parenting style. Three hundred and seventy-five mothers with infants completed questionnaires regarding parenting knowledge, parenting efficacy, and parenting style. The results showed that the mothers reported different scores in subcategories of parenting knowledge, in which the highest scores were in knowledge about rearing behavior and the lowest were in the developmental process. Second, there were differences in parenting knowledge scores according to the age, employment status, and educational level of subjects. Third, subjects with the more accurate parenting knowledge reported more positive parenting efficacy and parenting style. Lastly, parenting efficacy completely mediated between parenting knowledge and parenting style.
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the paths from the cumulative risk factors to infant's development at 24 months of age via the mediation of maternal parenting behaviors. The data consisted of 3 year's worth of data harvested from 1802 families participating in the Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC). The results revealed that cumulative family risk factors tended to stay in the family in relatively stable ways. Early risk factors significantly predicted later risk factors. Cumulative risk factors were negatively associated with the parenting styles of mothers, which in turn, significantly predicted the development of the infants concerned. Statistical tests supported the notion that mothers' parenting behavior is the mediator of the relation between family risk factors and infant's developmental outcomes.
The purposes of this study were to compare the nursing behavior and support between mother as a housewife who has the first infant under 24 months in age and grandmother, and to analyze what mother's nursing behavior was affected by that of grandmother. The subjects were 60 pairs of mother and grandmother on mother's side or father's side and the inquiry paper method and interview were used for this study. The results of analyses for this study are as follows: The first, the nursing behaviors in the past and at the present from mother's perception were considerably different between two groups in the affection and concern aspects. The second, the perceived nursing behaviors by mother and mother-side grandmother's were considerably different in the educational aspect between two groups and mother-side grandmother's educational behavior was higher than that of mother. The third, mother's nursing support were given by husband at 1st and mother-side-grandmother in 2nd, but that of grandmother by husband at 1st and both mother-side- and father-side-grandmother in 2nd. The fourth, nursing support were not considerably different in all the aspects between two groups.
