  • This study estimates and evaluates the parameters to relate spectral intensities of aerial and terrestrial images through spectral analysis of each band. For the experiment, an aerial image covering the headquater of the Kyungpook National University was used and terrestrial images were taken by the Sony DSC-F828 DSLR camera. For finding the spectral correspondence, gray intensity, RGB variance, mean, standard deviation were computed, from which parameters of a linear model between patches of both images were computed and evaluated using check patches.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient coding algorithm for the zoom images to find the optimal depth and texture information. The proposed algorithm is the area-based method consisting of two consecutive steps, i) the depth extraction step and ii) the texture extraction step. The X-Y plane of the object space is divided into triangular patches and the depth value of the node is determined in the first step and then the texture of the each patch is extracted in the second step. In the depth extraction step, the depth of the node is determined by applying the block-based disparity compensation method to the windowed area centered at the node. In the second step, the texture of the triangular patches is extracted from the zoom images by applying the affine transformation based disparity compensation method to the triangular patches with the depth value extracted from the first step. To improve the quality of image, the interpolation is peformed on the object space instead of the interpolation on the image plane.

  • Depth-image-based rendering is a technique that can be applied in a variety of 3D-display systems. It generates the images that have been captured from virtual viewpoints by using a depth map. However, disoccluded hole-filling problems remain a challenging issue, as a newly exposed area appears in the virtual view. Image inpainting is a popular approach for the filling of the hole region. This paper presents a robust hole-filling method that reduces the error and generates a high quality-virtual view. First, the adaptive-patch size is decided using the color and depth information. Also, a partial filling method for which the patch similarity is used is proposed. These efforts reduce the error occurrence and the propagation. The experiment results show that the proposed method synthesizes the virtual view with a higher visual comfort compared with the existing methods.

  • In stereo matching system, it is efficient using segment patch, which divides the image into homogeneous region in color or similar intensity, because it preserves the disparity boundary and disparity continuity in low textured region. But many miss matching occur in the highly textured region because of the over segmentation that makes patch small and ambiguous. In this paper, in order to solve problems, we propose adaptive patch matching based on the watershed image segmentation. Performance was verified in experimental results.

  • In this paper, an automatic setting method of control parameters for robot scorer is proposed. First we acquisited some local image lesions including robots and ball patch, and sampled the regions to RCB value. Edge operator is applied to get magnitude of gradient at each pixel. Some effective patch regions can be detected by magnitude of gradient, and YUV value at each pixel in patch lesions can be obtained. We can determine control parameters of robot soccer using luminance component of YUV. The proposed method is applied to robot soccer image to detect initial patch value and get control parameters adaptively in light variation.

  • Emergence of high-resolution digital aerial cameras and airborne laser scanners have made innovative progress in photogrammetry and spatial information technology. The purpose of this study is to generate true orthoimage by recovering occlusion areas. The orthoimages were generated patch-based transformation. The occlusion areas were mutually corrected by using multiple aerial images. This study proposed a novel method of building roof based orthoimage generation and an effective method of occlusion area detection and recovery. The proposed methods could be efficient to generate true orthoimages in urban areas where occlusion areas are problematic.

  • This paper presents a similarity search method based on mixed norm for enhancing self-example-based single image super-resolution. In order to incorporate the local statistical characteristics of the patches into the super-resolution image reconstruction, we propose a method to determine the order of the norm according to the patch inclination and use it as a similarity search between patches. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed similarity search method has the capability to improve the performance of existing search method.

  • In this paper, we propose a linear interpolation method based on patch information generated from a low - resolution image for generating a super resolution image in a single image. Using the regression model of the global space, which is a conventional super resolution generation method, results in poor quality in general because of lack of information to be referred to a specific region. In order to compensate for these results, we propose a method to extract meaningful information by dividing the region into patches in the process of super resolution image generation, analyze the constituents of the image matrix region extended for super resolution image generation, We propose a method of linear interpolation based on optimal patch information that is searched by correlating patch information based on the information gathered before the interpolation process. For the experiment, the original image was compared with the reconstructed image with PSNR and SSIM.

  • We propose a novel method to conceal fiducial markers observed in augmented scenes using patch-based texture synthesis. Despite the efficiency for simple object recognition and tracking, the markers deliver inherent obtrusiveness. They do not only reduce immersiveness, but also severely degrade usability of augmented reality. The proposed method constructs alternative images in real time to overlay markers present in the sequence of images. The global characteristics of background textures are retained and the results are more adaptive to illumination changes.
